A formal dance.

WHO: Everyone!
WHERE: The Atrium, Haven's Hub.
WHEN: Today! The dance will go on from the late afternoon until the early hours of the morning.
WHAT: Have your top hat and cane? This is a formal ball. The origination is a drunken Vandal and battle-worn Saber.
WARNINGS: Could be anything from bar fights to drunken swearing to people tripping over their own feet or people making out in a corner.

Welcome to the dance!
     The Atrium will have its doors open in the late evening. For the first two hours, Vandal and Drift will be acting as receptionist and bouncer. After that, the doors close. At the reception desk, you will be required to sign your name and also hand over any weapons that you are carrying. (Within the building there is an inhibitor placed. No one will be able to use any weaponry on their person.)

     The Atrium is decorated in royal purple and black, with accents of white and pearl. The decorations are standard fair for a ball. There's hanging draperies, table clothes, and colored lighting. Towards the outside of the circular Atrium, everyone will be under a glowing white light. Towards the middle of the dance floor, there is a much softer lavender that illuminates the immediate area.

     Vandal and Saber organized and planned, and then helped with decorations. They will also be over seeing the event throughout the entire night. Vandal will be handling the reception desk and registration. We have Frenzy as our DJ in the Atrium, and Miko will be playing electric guitar for those who decide to visit the bar. Saber, Ironhide, and McCrane will be acting as security. They would be the best to contact should you have any.. safety concerns. Our bouncer, Drift, will be "on call" for security once his primary assignment is done. Kay organized and lead the decorating, and Ravage and McCrane helped with placing them. Melan and Joe gathered needed materials. Skidaddle is the one to blame for having the supply of available hats at the doors for any Cybertronian who tries to get past the one piece of attire rule.

     Feel free to post in any sub-forum area you think your character would be present in (with or without an opening post), or merely tag others. Prose or action-spam is okay (and you may want to include this in your initial posts if you want others to tag you). Bonus: include links to garments your character may be wearing. This is entirely up to you! Have fun!

[Skyfire expected to have fun at the dance. It'd be a good way to meet new friends; he was lucky that a gathering like this was taking place so soon after he had arrived. He didn't even mind the bowtie.

He thought it looked kind of nice, really.

But now that he was here... well. He wasn't quite sure of what to do, and even though Saber had told him that he didn't need a date, most of the others did seem to have one. So he was mostly wandering around, until he figured out he should probably sit down somewhere and stop looming.]

Jetfire wasn't sure why, or how, he'd (been made to) agreed to come here, but regardless, present he was. He wasn't really the type to dress up - in any way at all, but since it'd been sort of required, he'd managed to find something of a sash.

It was particularly hard to miss his alternate; the mech was taller than he was, which was... interesting. The other differences had been easy enough to spot, but size wasn't easy to judge over a video feed.

"It seems there's a few more differences between us." It was said with quiet, dry amusement as Jetfire came up, and was rather pleased to have this chance. The first time he hadn't gotten to meet his alternate personally.

"Though I admit I don't really see the point of the... extra requirement." Jetfire resisted rubbing her lower face, and instead folded his arms over his chestplates, automatically casting his look around the nearest area, but Starscream - and that crown - wasn't in view.

Perhaps for the best.

Skyfire hadn't put much thought into into, but when he saw Jetfire approach, he realized that he'd been expecting his alternate to be closer to his size. Well. No such luck there. Then again, he was so used to standing out in the crowd that it barely registered, other than as a curious fact.

He did grin at the comment about the formal 'clothes', though.

"It's all in good fun," he said. "Just... a bit silly."

At least he wasn't the same size as Starscream? And he was taller than Optimus. Just not... to the size of Skyfire.

"Quite a bit so, really. Can't fault the idea or execution, but I'd have preferred it not be a requirement." Jetfire shook his helm and then shrugged. "I wasn't going to go, but it seeemed better that I do so." There was only a singular reason he'd come here, though it wasn't, for the moment, present.

Frowning thoughtfully, Jetfire realised something had been reduced to a lower priority during the tailend of the mechanoid centipede invasion.

"Would you like to come see the lab tomorrow or a bit later? I realise the offer got somewhat lost in trying to put an end to the invasion of those... creatures."

He nodded in agreement. That much he could understand; especially considering that for some models it might be very hard to find something to wear that wasn't completely ridiculous. Skyfire could see the point.

"I'm sure they meant well. But it's not for everyone, I suppose," he admitted. "At least we all look equally silly."

Small comfort, perhaps, but it was something.

And then, of course, his face lit up at the mention of Jetfire's offer.

"I would love to!"

At that, Jetfire laughed quietly and nodded agreement. There was that, indeed. Though, looking silly or not, the type of decoration that had been demanded might not be to the preference of some. Technically, if he was more laid towards decoration at all, he might not have minded a few strings of crystals, like that he'd seen on the pink femme around here... But as he wasn't, he felt odd even with the understated sash around his hips.

"And then there's those that take pride in it. Either way." Shaking his helm, Jetfire smiled again. "Excellent. I was... ah, going to suggest we leave now, but you might be inclined to stay?" And he should stay, for all that he'd prefer not to.

Skyfire hesitated for a moment. It wasn't as if he was the life of the party, after all... Most people probably wouldn't even notice if he left. On the other hand, well. He'd come with the idea of meeting people, after all, and perhaps making a couple of new friends. He might still give it a try.

"I'd like to stay a little longer, if you don't mind," he said after a moment. "I could still get to mingle a little."

"I'll survive." he chuckled and shrugged, casting a glance around the room. "Given that I'm not entirely here for myself only, and since it is a good chance to get to talk to people personally, I'll hardly insist we leave now."

Turning back to Skyfire, Jetfire considered their... height, again, still somewhat surprised by it.

"And while I'd rather have a more in-depth discussion to consider all the differences and similarities later... We don't seem to share altmode." Which wasn't truly the most curious thing; the few alternates that had been around hadn't necessarily shared altmode, though it was more often that they did than not.

No one, though, hadn't shared a designation, which was more curious.

It was a fascinating subject, once he got past the odd feeling of knowing for a fact that there were more of him out there - in a sense, at least. Of course they were not exactly the same, and since they did not have the same experiences, the differences were even more noticeable. But still, an alternate was an alternate.

Fortunately for Skyfire, his curiosity got the better of him soon enough, and it wasn't long at all until he found it interesting instead of upsetting.

"That's right... I wonder if it has to do with different timelines," he mused. "I am still using an old altmode, back from before the war. I didn't have the chance to upgrade it."
