A formal dance.
WHERE: The Atrium, Haven's Hub.
WHEN: Today! The dance will go on from the late afternoon until the early hours of the morning.
WHAT: Have your top hat and cane? This is a formal ball. The origination is a drunken Vandal and battle-worn Saber.
WARNINGS: Could be anything from bar fights to drunken swearing to people tripping over their own feet or people making out in a corner.
The Atrium will have its doors open in the late evening. For the first two hours, Vandal and Drift will be acting as receptionist and bouncer. After that, the doors close. At the reception desk, you will be required to sign your name and also hand over any weapons that you are carrying. (Within the building there is an inhibitor placed. No one will be able to use any weaponry on their person.) The Atrium is decorated in royal purple and black, with accents of white and pearl. The decorations are standard fair for a ball. There's hanging draperies, table clothes, and colored lighting. Towards the outside of the circular Atrium, everyone will be under a glowing white light. Towards the middle of the dance floor, there is a much softer lavender that illuminates the immediate area. Vandal and Saber organized and planned, and then helped with decorations. They will also be over seeing the event throughout the entire night. Vandal will be handling the reception desk and registration. We have Frenzy as our DJ in the Atrium, and Miko will be playing electric guitar for those who decide to visit the bar. Saber, Ironhide, and McCrane will be acting as security. They would be the best to contact should you have any.. safety concerns. Our bouncer, Drift, will be "on call" for security once his primary assignment is done. Kay organized and lead the decorating, and Ravage and McCrane helped with placing them. Melan and Joe gathered needed materials. Skidaddle is the one to blame for having the supply of available hats at the doors for any Cybertronian who tries to get past the one piece of attire rule. Feel free to post in any sub-forum area you think your character would be present in (with or without an opening post), or merely tag others. Prose or action-spam is okay (and you may want to include this in your initial posts if you want others to tag you). Bonus: include links to garments your character may be wearing. This is entirely up to you! Have fun! Make sure to add your character to the tags! (That's the registry.) |

"I'm sure they meant well. But it's not for everyone, I suppose," he admitted. "At least we all look equally silly."
Small comfort, perhaps, but it was something.
And then, of course, his face lit up at the mention of Jetfire's offer.
"I would love to!"
no subject
"And then there's those that take pride in it. Either way." Shaking his helm, Jetfire smiled again. "Excellent. I was... ah, going to suggest we leave now, but you might be inclined to stay?" And he should stay, for all that he'd prefer not to.
no subject
"I'd like to stay a little longer, if you don't mind," he said after a moment. "I could still get to mingle a little."
no subject
Turning back to Skyfire, Jetfire considered their... height, again, still somewhat surprised by it.
"And while I'd rather have a more in-depth discussion to consider all the differences and similarities later... We don't seem to share altmode." Which wasn't truly the most curious thing; the few alternates that had been around hadn't necessarily shared altmode, though it was more often that they did than not.
No one, though, hadn't shared a designation, which was more curious.
no subject
Fortunately for Skyfire, his curiosity got the better of him soon enough, and it wasn't long at all until he found it interesting instead of upsetting.
"That's right... I wonder if it has to do with different timelines," he mused. "I am still using an old altmode, back from before the war. I didn't have the chance to upgrade it."
no subject
"I would surmise so, yes... Though as of yet, all the others have shared the same designation." Jetfire paused, frowning thoughtfully as he folded his arms over his chestplates. "That's... interesting, however. I ended up changing from the design I had pre-war and earlier in the war mostly because of the modifications I was performing. The old one looked... similar, but less armoured."
That was the easiest way to describe it, frankly, without taking into account where all the pieces had been.
"I would... theorise our realities are close enough to lend a close similarity physically - with a few obvious differences," said Jetfire with a dry, lopsided smile and a shake of his helm.
no subject
It was probably just idle theorizing, since it wasn't as if they had a way to find out for sure. But it was a fun way to spend time, at least.
For a very particular definition of 'fun'.
"I think you have a very good point about our realities. Our contexts must be similar enough. Space-capability seems an obvious factor, for example."
no subject
Jetfire spread his hands as he talked, frowning slightly. It was sort of frustrating that patterns might be missed because they were "too close", but at the same time, outside of their own realities as they all were... This was the "furtherst away" they'd ever be.
"Mm, yes. Space-capability... Starscream. More, undoubtedly." A dry smile, and had Jetfire known about their little jaunt of being frozen, he'd have made a probably-unfortunately phrased comment about that similarity as well.
no subject
"Our work in science, too. Even if it's not exactly on the same fields."
There were other things he could ask, but... they were a bit touchy. He couldn't bring himself to outright ask Jetfire if he'd ever been frozen. Or a Decepticon.
no subject
"Indeed. And no, I believe it's not... I'd assume the necessities for navigating in space would be similar enough, but as for the rest..." Jetfire trailed off, frowning thoughtfully. "The wider diciplines connected to geology are one of my oldest, along with aerodynamics. Weapons engineering." The last is admitted somewhat slowly; it has proven useful, but not quite what he'd like to have in his repertoire.
"... And I believe perhaps comparing our pasts should be saved for a more... quiet and private occasion." It was still something he wanted to do, despite the potential for... quite a lot of things, depending on what was similar and what wasn't.
But when did you otherwise get a possibility like this?
no subject
"I preferred working with living organisms whenever possible, but geology was one of my main fields, too. Starscream and I used to explore uncharted planets."
He trailed off for a moment, giving himself a few seconds to think. To be quite honest, he appreciated the suggestion of leaving the conversation for later. He couldn't really separate his professional background from his personal life, after all. That much was clear.
It was funny, in a way. Back then he would never have imagined it might become an issue.
"I'd like that," Skyfire agreed in the end. "I admit that I'm quite curious about it."
no subject
And Skyfire and Jetfire both have that little... issue, unfortunately enough. Which Jetfire had somewhat assumed and well. It might simply be easier to be too careful than not. Jetfire waited quietly until Skyfire agreed and while he certainly was curious, the pause hinted at something a bit... sensitive. He'd probably not been too wrong, so the smile, while genuine, was a bit wry.
"Me as well. Especially given the similarities, so it'd be interesting to see if there is a definitive point where the events branches, or if it's simply many small things but otherwise the overall pattern being the same..."
no subject
He paused, and then grinned a little. This wasn't the best place or time to talk in great detail about personal things - that was also true.
"That is, when we have a more quiet moment."
no subject
"Not the best location or event for it no, even if I'd certainly want to do it now." Then Jetfire realised that... perhaps... he ought to at least make a cursory pass around the Atrium, see if there was anyone else he might want to speak to...
And find Starscream.
Just so he knew what the Seeker was up to.
"Want to have a look around? I should... at the least, try to find Starscream." Jetfire rubbed his hand over the lower half of his face, only slightly hiding the exasperated smile.
no subject
"I'd like to," he agreed, with a slight nod. "I haven't been... around, much. Not yet."
no subject
And it was more like Starscream convincing him to come. Unfortunately. Not that he could regret agreeing to come, since he got to talk to Skyfire in person.
no subject
"Ah, yes... We'd better find out where he went off to."
no subject
"Indeed. Besides, I'm sure it'll give him something to comment on." The two of them, that was. With a snort, Jetfire led them off. At least Starscream wouldn't be hard to find, really, since he was among the taller mechs present (excluding either of them), and wore that... crown.
It'd be useful for spotting him, at least.
no subject
"I'm sure it will," he agreed. "Starscream always seems to find some excuse to give his very important opinions.
The fact that Starscream was also getting their attention right now even though he wasn't even there didn't quite register with him.
no subject
"That he does... And then some end up surprised when what he says make sense," said Jetfire, honestly dryly amused. He knew Starscream well enough to know the Seeker was hardly a rambling, illogical pile of arrogance.
Perhaps unfortunately.
And the fact that they were talking about Starscream... well, it was probably inevitable, really. He did seem to carry some... importance for them both.
