A gift he really didn't want
WHO: Cliffjumper and Blurr
WHERE: The entrance hall of Vector's temple
WHEN: around now
WHAT: flight trainiiinggg
WARNINGS: none!
Cliffjumper had been a bit slow about this. Sure, there'd been another incident here and there, but nothing as bad as getting stuck on top of a tower in Vector's temple. So he'd dragged it out and preferred to ignore it.
He had a jetpack, that was more than enough!
But, really, he couldn't just leave this, because what if something happened and he had another "incident"? Or he didn't have his jetpack... then it would be useful.
So, he'd gotten Blurr to meet him in the entrance hall - inside, limited chance of getting too far up - for some training, liking it or no.
"Ugh, okay. So what... just start thinkin' 'up' to get this started?"

Cliff stop yo whining it's a magical gift
"WellwellwellIamGLADthatyoudecidedtogiveitatry. You won't regret it my friend I assure you, I've seen some really beautiful things up there NO WONDER why the seekers believe themselves so superior, they have a really different view of the world. " Blurr's maybe a bit too eager about all this.
"First we could start with something simple, like controlled hover."
>8V magical his aft
Staring flatly at Blurr's first burst of somewhat faster-than-he-could-easily-interpret, Cliffjumper huffed and crossed his arms over his chestplate.
"Pretty sure I will, but I can't really keep the brakes in 'bout this." He just shook his helm at all the blather about pretty things and Seekers - he didn't care about that, and he could get pretty far up with the jetpack if he did.
"Uh-huh. How the frag did you get control of it? Just bein' able after a while to control this slag through thinking about it after trainin'?"
So now Cliff's aft is magical? Does it sparkle?
Blurr waves a hand, dismissing his complaining. "That's not a very positive attitude. Have you been hanging out with Sentinel?" He smirks but then he decided to actually be useful.
"I had no one to teach me so I came up with my own techniques, those might not work for you but it's worth trying. YOU SEE it's a bit like learning how to swim or float. First, relax as much as you can." Go on. Cliff you don't look relaxed.
It is not! And it doesn't. >8|
Snorting, he did try to do as Blurr suggested, though that, in addition to being highly aware of the reason for this little thing, of course had him floating.
And going upwards.
And when he was up in was far harder to figure how to get control of it, or even get down - which was ridiculous, since he didn't like his feet off the ground.
"Fraggin'---"
What a pity. Imagine how cool that would be. and by 'cool' I meant F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S
"...well I never said swimming was easy either." Stop making things harder using logic and common sense, Cliffjumper. Blurr quickly fliest up and reaches out for him, grabbing Cliffjumper's shoulder before he flied into the moon or something.
"There, I got you. You are doing great you just need some more control. Keep in mind that you are still a heavy body, balance the thought of flying with the sense of your own weight."
You mean RIDICULOUS he wouldn't look either cool or fabulous!!
Huff.
Grimacing as he glanced between Blurr and the floor quite far beneath them, Cliffjumper was glad this was being done inside.
"Last time I did this I fell down hard and fast," Cliffjumper muttered and grabbed onto Blurr as well, to not just have the other mech hold onto him in the case a sudden movement or drop made Blurr lose his grip.
He could if he tried hard enough. Blurr can lend him his tiara
"You won't fall, I'm here." He will never let go, Cliffjumper. "It's like you don't trust me at all. Some kind of friend are you. Don't tell me you are scared?"
Maybe if Blurr pokes at Cliffjumper's pride he will get more confident and actually try do control his new power.
if only to punch Blurr. He doesn't want to try and he doesn't want a tiara either!
He just had this issue about no ground under his feet, even if he could use his jetpack and stuff like that.
But, since they're here now and Blurr, at least, can control his own flight, Cliffjumper turns off his optics, because maybe that will help.
And, in a way it sort of does, because while he keeps wobbling in altitude, at least it's... somewhat stable.
Good then, because that tiara looks much better on Blurr anyway
If Cliffjumper talked about what really worries him perhaps Blurr would understand it better. But right now he's pleased by what he sees.
"You are already doing it great. I don't need it anymore but at first I used my vents to get the air out of my system and change directions while hovering. Try it? "
Blurr can certainly have it!
Not that Blurr would be able to tell that from any normal shifting, but he knew what it was about.
"Eh, I guess..." frowning, he concentrated on the next vent out. Tried for several more vents, until a klik had passed, but... nothing really happened. Not even a jerky motion in any direction.
Cliffjumper scowled.
"Think I'm gonna need to use somethin' else."
FINE....ungrateful mech >:C
"Hmm...." Still at an arm length, Blurr grinned. "Try starting your transformation?"
>8V he's not ungrateful you're just not helpful!!
"My transformation? What's that gonna do?" Try to be less confusing, Blurr! Because what was transforming supposed to help? Blurr came up with really strange ideas sometimes.
HE'S helping a lot, you twat >8C
"I thought that perhaps the movement could help? Forget it, it was a silly suggestion." He's trying okay? He's trying...
TRYING TO, at least he can give you that! :V
"Not silly, I just don't get it, since it ain't gonna move me in any particular direction..." Grimacing, Cliffjumper sighs sharply and thinks for a moment...
"Why don't ya just move a bit? Sure, I ain't gonna be doin' anything, but, I dunno. Maybe I can pick up something that way." And Blurr is helping, even if it's only as an anchor to give Cliffjumper a stable point.
It does help.
Hmm...fine ;w;
Blurr floats around, not too fast and not too far away.
<o<... /hugs
There was no guarantee that would teach him how to propel himself at all, but it did give him a feeling of control - if just through someone else's controlled flight.
"'Cause at least then there might be less fraggin' accidents for all of us when they do kick in."
(づ。◕‿‿◕。)づ /hugs!
Blurr gives Cliffjumper's hand a encouraging squeeze. He knows his friend is a fast learner, he's sure Cliffjumper will master the art of flying in no time.

"You'd think they would've put somethin' into the fraggin' glyphs though, since they're thereeee--gah!" And then the mental thought of 'pushing' turned into Cliffjumper moving and crashing right into Blurr.
"... Fraggin' slag-drippin' scrap. Sorry."
no subject
"ItsokayItdidn'thurtatall..." He regained his composture after a few seconds. "YOU DID IT! By accident and not perfectly but ey you moved! Try to do it again!"
And after a mom net he added. "On the opposite direction of where I am."
no subject
"Maybe, but don't see much difference from what I did the first time, since I tried to get down and fell after I was thinkin' about down." He was a bit frustrated, okay. And Hanging around in the air with nothing underneath his feet but... well, air didn't help him.
"But, yeah, I guess..." Frowning, Cliffjumper thought back to how it felt when Blurr was moving and - he went flying sharply backwards, managing to jerk to a stop framelenghts away.
"Slaggin' scrap!"
Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu I never got the notif for this 8'[
"Try thinking about 'lower' instead of just 'down'. Perhaps your body will listen to your mind that way."
But seeing how Cliff flies away so quickly that's clearly not working. Blurr moves forward and grabs his hand.
"Easy, easy. Turn around and move to the opposite direction. The rooms' big enough, you just need to keep trying."
THAT'S OKAY I didn't want to say something until now in case you were too busy. :'D
Squinting, Cliffjumper rubbed his chin as he tried to think of some other way to phrase it in his processor for moving - the issue was probably that like this, there was no handy way to gauge his speed, which meant he had no 'anchor' for it and just went randomly flying.
"... Dunno how, but I think I need some slaggin' way of thinkin' about direction and speed more precisely. Otherwise I just go flyin' like I got slaggin' tossed."
I don't really know what happened, I am sorry. Never worry about asking! D:
Blurr scratches his chin, thinking how this could help Cliffjumper. He's throwing theories into the wind, since nothing seems to work 100% for his friend.
"Try thinking in terms of time and not space? As in, you know how much will take you to reach the door at the end of teh room, right? The exact number of milliseconds.
Think about where you should be once those milliseconds pass, maybe that way you will float towards said point while controlling the speed. Thinking about more milliseconds would imply moving at a slower pace, since you are thinking that it should take you more time to reach your objective."
Does anything make sense? It does to Blurr, a little bit.
<33
As they hung there in the air, Cliffjumper's frown deepened at Blurr's suggestion. How the frag was that supposed to help him, he didn't---
Except he did.
He'd not thought about it earlier, having simply not noticed the perfect calculations of how long it'd take to get somewhere at any given speed but...
"... Huh. I do know that." Excuse him as he has a moment of stunned realisation, Blurr.
Staring without exactly seeing the floor beneath them, Cliffjumper narrowed his optics and then drifted down a few feet.
He wobbled at the end, but at least he didn't fall like the few tons of metal that he was.
"... That might work."
♥!
"Well done! Now you just need to keep practicing. Did you really not know about the calculations?"
