A gift he really didn't want
WHO: Cliffjumper and Blurr
WHERE: The entrance hall of Vector's temple
WHEN: around now
WHAT: flight trainiiinggg
WARNINGS: none!
Cliffjumper had been a bit slow about this. Sure, there'd been another incident here and there, but nothing as bad as getting stuck on top of a tower in Vector's temple. So he'd dragged it out and preferred to ignore it.
He had a jetpack, that was more than enough!
But, really, he couldn't just leave this, because what if something happened and he had another "incident"? Or he didn't have his jetpack... then it would be useful.
So, he'd gotten Blurr to meet him in the entrance hall - inside, limited chance of getting too far up - for some training, liking it or no.
"Ugh, okay. So what... just start thinkin' 'up' to get this started?"

"I don't think about them as calculations, Blurr. I mean, sure, I noticed I suddely had a much better grasp on how long it'd take me to get places at any given speed and slag like that, but never really looked under the blasted hood of it, ya know?"
At least he had something that might help him get control of this stupid thing now, and that was good enough to him. Not that he really felt like practicing, but he'd do it.
no subject
"I wonder what other thing you missed, silly bot." Then he punches him friendly on the arm. "Do you want to keep trying or you think you already hit enough walls? We can call it a day if you are tired."
no subject
"... Well, I ain't too eager on doin' this, but now that I've got what might be a slaggin' grip on this thing... gimmie a movin' target for a bit." Because if he was doing this and had finally found a way that might work for him, why not go for the hardest thing around instead of just trying to cross the various distances like most would do?
no subject
"Oh I just know the best moving target possible." Blurr taps at his chest, right in the center of his Elite Guard insignia. It moves (like it moved away when their chest connected so it didn't get squished) and it *flaps* a pair of wings.
What it looked like Blurr's insignia was really the small firelizard Barricade had made specially for him. The creature turns, stretches its neck and lets out a brief 'graw' while looking at Cliffjumper.
"Do you think you could catch him?"
no subject
Or look like one the Autobrand either, for that matter.
Frowning again, Cliffjumper considered it.
"But I don't see why I couldn't... ain't much different from endin' up chasin' you, right?"
no subject
Blurr's baby is special like that. Isn't he cute? Scout flaps his wings some more and starts flying really fast around Cliffjumper.
"Well..he's much smaller and hard to catch. Good luck to you two." And with that, Scout flies away to the other side of the room.-
no subject
And then it flew off.
"... Come on, how the slag is that fair?" Huffing, Cliffjumper nontheless turned towards where Scout had flown off and after a moment of frowning hesitation as he considered the distance, decided to actually try and trust that strange sense he'd gained.
He flew off, overshooting Scout and that allowed the critter to fly off again.
"Slaggin'---" He wasn't going to give up though.
no subject
"If someone attacks you in the air is not going to be fair either. And you like challenges."
Scout chirped and started to fly in circles, but not moving from his new spot in mid air, waiting for Cliff to catch up on him.
no subject
Letting out a loud static sigh - because he did like challenges, he flew off at Scout again, trying to shift his "destination" in mind (and the time it'd take to get there) from Scout's location, to the little firelizard himself.
That, however, gave Cliffjumper something of a processor ache and his speed sputtered until he hung in the air a short bit short of Scout. Okay, that wouldn't work yet.
no subject
However, even the little dragon can tell the red mech is trying. he flies over to Cliffjumper until he's an arm's reach. "Chirp!"
no subject
Not really angry, just exasperatedly amused. Blurr chose to do it to himself, and Cliffjumper hadn't laughed too much now had he? This, however, simply had to be dealt with and learned. It wasn't like he could choose to deactivate it or something like that.
Reluctantly, he smiled as Scout flew close and he could touch the little firelizard, and he shook his helm.
"Ya know this ain't gonna help me learn, even if the thought's nice."
no subject
Blurr easily moves on the air and next to his two boys. Scout chirps, flies over him and jumps over his arm. Then he runs up all the way until he's perched on top of one of Blurr's pointy shoulders.
"He likes you, you know. Do you want to try to chase me instead?"
no subject
"Not sure how he can come to that judgement that quickly," rolling his optics, he nodded, "might as well. If I get a handle on this, I might be able to catch him."
Right now, though, that was a bit too hard for him.
no subject
Scout likes to watch things from there when he's not latched to Blurr's chest. There's good views. "Do you realize that he knows you, right? I had him for a long time now and he's been acting as my insignia for months. Scout knows we are friend so he likes you too."
no subject
"He's... Right. Why didn't ya say somethin'?" It's just a harmless little firelizard, but it still made him feel annoyed. He wasn't even sure why. Not that he got overly defensive about it, but there was a huff at the end of the question.
no subject
"It didn't seemed important at the time. You never seemed to worry about me bringing Frank along so I thought this was no different." Blurr wasn't so bold or clueless as to not notice the annoyance. The humor in his face disappeared. "Sorry,I guess I should have told you sooner."
no subject
It might be overreacting, but he couldn't help it. At least he wasn't throwing out an accusation of spying, because honestly that could have happened! But there's not many (any) Blurr would be spying for here, and, well... Scout is still stuck on his chestplates, so he's not seeing anything Blurr isn't.
So Cliffjumper just feels vaguely annoyed.
no subject
"I know it probably doesn't help but I only told another person before you and that's because we were talking about security. Scout was created so I could have back up when I needed it."
And thus a situation like the one he had to face with Longarm-Shockwave could be avoided. Even if Blurr got captured or hurt, the little robot dragon could fly away unnoticed and warn others. "I'm sorry I upset you, Cliffjumper."
no subject
"It doesn't really, but whatever. Done's done. And it's kinda cute, I guess," Cliffjumper said as he dropped his hand and shook his helm, "and back-up's good, even if it's just of the 'go tell people' kind."
He'd apologise, but well. Cliffjumper had issues with that sometimes, and especially when it came to the thing with spies and disguises and whatever else.
no subject
The soy part Blurr can't help it but he understands the disdain for disguises.
no subject
"If nothin' else, if we get into trouble again sometime, maybe it can go get help, huh?"
Since Scout was tiny and could fly, he'd have far easier of a time getting away from places than either of them would have if something did go wrong.
no subject
"Are you planning another trip close to dangerous places?" Count him in, they haven't had one of those in some time.
no subject
"Plannin'? Nah. But you never know what happens and all that, and like this, with everything we're at least more prepared, seems like." Which is really nice compared to when they got stuck in that deathtrap.
If either of them had been capable of flying like this back then, things would've been far easier.
no subject
no subject
"Good. Least that ain't gonna mess with you if you need to use it, but that's kinda creepy, really. Useful, but creepy." At least being able to fly wasn't creepy. It was just... inexplicable flying.
Just because he didn't like being in the air like this didn't mean it was creepy.
