OPENING LOG: Awakening
WHO: Everybody!
WHERE: The Junk Pile.
WHEN: Right here, right now.
WHAT: Game opening! Our Heroes find themselves in a strange place not of their own world, however familiar (or not) it may be.
Consciousness is slow, and a struggle to obtain. The moments before darkness are hazy enough; a great vertigo, a twisting, and then, falling. Falling for what seemed like forever. And when you are finally aware of your surroundings, it is most decidedly not where you came from.
Instead, you are now in what appears to be a wasteland. A wasteland...of junk. Debris as far as you can see, heaped in mini-mountains that offer only so good of a view of the world around you. Perhaps in the distance, you can make out some flatter land, perhaps you can just make out what looks like a crevice - but it's difficult at best. The light here is all wrong, the two greatest sources being a white line in the alien sky that doesn't so much give off light as simply have it - and something in the south that glows like a setting sun.
You may or may not notice it at first, but you, too, have something alien - something on your arm, more likely than not. A marking that glows softly, but offers no clue as to how it got there - no pain, no sensitivity. It's simply there, as you are here.
So.
Now what?
((OOC: This is it, you guys! Have a blast! Please remember to keep everything under the first thread for now; we'll be adding the Firstforged in in a little bit...
OKAY There is now a second thread to post in! Feel free to make new threads there to react to the arrival of the Firstforged, or respond directly to the Firstforged themselves.))

There are no booming footsteps as she would expect from something of that size, and no further shouting from the voice that had spoken in a foreign language. Very slowly, she begins to ease out of her tight posture, just enough to lift her head and look out through the opening.
no subject
"Now...where did you go..."
Unfortunately for Annie, his first language is Cybertronian - and it's what he's speaking now. Softly and to himself, but...
no subject
Then, slowly, she crawls on her hands and knees to the gap while keeping herself low, and does her best to look around without making herself visible. As she struggles to see anything at all even from there, she hears a voice nearby just barely as it is quite soft. The language is something she heard earlier but not one she can recognize or distinguish from any other. Even so, it gives her an idea as to which way to look.
Chancing it, Annie tentatively leans forward to stick her head out just enough to see with one eye. Spotting the being far closer than she expected, she gasps softly and withdraws backwards. She turns over to scramble backwards with her hands and feet until she gets to the back of the pocket a rather disappointingly short distance away. Out of room to escape, she looks around for some other exit, but finds no other openings. Lowering to kneel with her legs to one side as far back as she can manage, she lifts her hands up close to her face and waits with her whole form tensed enough that she trembles.
Please don't find her!

...and then pauses. Right. Trying not to be scary. Let's, uh. Let's try coaxing them out, first.
"...bah weep granah?" he tries again. Maybe it's not so universal as it's supposed to be...
no subject
As far as she can tell, it might be a question to itself. Maybe she wasn't seen... Hoping so, Annie remains quiet and still as she can while shaking.
no subject
...well, he's got a good few languages, thanks to Solus and Trion, but he can't imagine wherever to start. Maybe it's best not to use a language at all? But what is he supposed to do to get attention?
Nexus moves a little closer to the hole, just enough to look inside - he can just make out a figure in there, he thinks, and that only by some trace movements. Poor thing's terrified.
"Hey there...er."
No language. But what else is he supposed to do?...he tries holding out a hand, just a little.
"I'm not going to hurt you. Really!"
no subject
With a rough swallow, Annie lowers her arms back downwards slowly, the movements not quite as smooth as they would be if she weren't still so frightened. Given just a moment, she finds her voice and barely manages to speak out above a whisper, "I....I-I don't understand."
no subject
At least the language is in his databanks. Nexus outright grins at that, adapting his words to match hers. "Is this better?"
no subject
Having already spoken with other robots like Drift, the English that follows should not surprise her and yet it is enough to cause her to tilt her head to one side a little as she starts to calm down. She simply had not made the assumption he would understand her. He does look similar to the enormous figure she saw at the distance that waved to her...
With a nod of her head to answer, she brings her hands together to clasp in front of her chest, "...yes." Curious and confused, she follows her answer with a question of her own, "...a-are you...?"
Well, the start of a question at least.
no subject
Probably not a good idea to reach in and grab her, or just take this place apart so he can grab her without reaching in. But she's got to get out of there sooner than later, right? As soon as Nexus figures out what she's asking, maybe.
no subject
For the moment, she lets her question wait. Or rather questions. The girl had not finished her question due to the fact she could not select which to ask first.
no subject
He'll give her the benefit of the doubt, until he can coax a bit more information from her. If she turned out to not bear one...
"I'm here," he answers with a wry smile. "Nothing can harm you while I'm around."
If she was Cybertronian, he would offer the guarantee that it even if something did, she'd be safe...but he can't tell if there's any Rarified Energon within her. Likely not.
no subject
Closing her eyes for an extra second and taking a breath in, she then pushes with her legs to get up to hands and knees and crawls her way back out through the opening to the pocket. Squirming a little to get her shoulders through, she slows down as she gets her hands out onto the rummage. At that point the glyph she wears would become visible on her back as she brings her legs out one at a time. As luck would have it, that glyph on her happens to belong to Nexus. The blue really is a rather stark contrast against the pink of her sweater, so it's difficult to miss.
Once out into the open again, the girl kneels in front of the one that coaxed her out of hiding, hands coming up together to clasp at her chest for comfort. With a side glance, she peers out into the distance to see the rather looming figure still standing there. At least it hasn't drawn any closer...
no subject
He'd have to tread carefull-oh, there's the glyph. So those colors are a part of her, he decides, but even so he's smiling in more than just relief when he recognizes the color and shape. One of his - and all the more reason to ease her in to it, gently.
Nexus follows her gaze, spotting himself, and turns his larger body the other direction, attending to other Refugees and matters. Good thing he's good at multitasking - of all of them, the best at it.
"Does he scare you?" he asks the female - girl, is that the term for a young one? She seems young, he'll have to find out - as he tilts his head.
no subject
Rather than answering with a direct affirmative, she presents a reason with obvious shyness about it as her shoulders shrug upwards a little and her voice softens, "...I-I've never seen anyone so big."
Barely having become acquainted with some of the robots moving around on the piles of junk, she had not yet considered the possibility of even larger beings. All of this has been so different from her experiences in Gotham.
no subject
"If big is all that takes to scare you, you'll have a rough time here, I can say."
He's trying to make it teasing, if only a little. Don't want to go too far with someone so skittish.
no subject
Only here in this new, strange place has she ever met anyone with such an obvious advantage to her that had not dismissed her presence or used that advantage against her.
When Nexus teases her gently, Annie bows her head forward further and glances down at her lap as she almost smiles with embarrassment, "...I-I guess so." Then looking up from beneath the edges of her bangs, softly she asks, "...do...do you know him?"
If the bot in front of her was familiar with him, he could provide her with some idea about the giant in the distance. She hopes to gain more information so that perhaps she could shake off the feeling of fear.
no subject
Oh, right.
"We're pretty close," he admits. "Same mold, you could say. Doubt he'd like hearing you were afraid of him - it'd probably make him wonder what he could do to make you not, you know?"
