OPENING LOG: Awakening

WHO: Everybody!
WHERE: The Junk Pile.
WHEN: Right here, right now.
WHAT: Game opening! Our Heroes find themselves in a strange place not of their own world, however familiar (or not) it may be.

Consciousness is slow, and a struggle to obtain. The moments before darkness are hazy enough; a great vertigo, a twisting, and then, falling. Falling for what seemed like forever. And when you are finally aware of your surroundings, it is most decidedly not where you came from.

Instead, you are now in what appears to be a wasteland. A wasteland...of junk. Debris as far as you can see, heaped in mini-mountains that offer only so good of a view of the world around you. Perhaps in the distance, you can make out some flatter land, perhaps you can just make out what looks like a crevice - but it's difficult at best. The light here is all wrong, the two greatest sources being a white line in the alien sky that doesn't so much give off light as simply have it - and something in the south that glows like a setting sun.

You may or may not notice it at first, but you, too, have something alien - something on your arm, more likely than not. A marking that glows softly, but offers no clue as to how it got there - no pain, no sensitivity. It's simply there, as you are here.

So.

Now what?

((OOC: This is it, you guys! Have a blast! Please remember to keep everything under the first thread for now; we'll be adding the Firstforged in in a little bit...

OKAY There is now a second thread to post in! Feel free to make new threads there to react to the arrival of the Firstforged, or respond directly to the Firstforged themselves.))

The questions were these: were there any humans here, and did anyone speak English? Anyone?

He'd snuck past a few other huge robots arguing among themselves, but those had been speaking a completely different incomprehensible language than the first robot. Troubling. And again, protocol said he wasn't to speak with the inhabitants, but the Dark Corridors weren't taking him home (he'd tried; they led right back here) and, well...

And then--a human. Maybe. Certainly not a Nobody or a robot, at least. Worth a shot.

"Oi!" he shouted. "Do you speak any English?"

V hadn't been wandering very long when he heard someone calling to him. Or so he assumed, since there really wasn't anyone else nearby.

And it seemed to be a human. Excellent. He liked robots as much as the next person in Heartland, but it was very odd to actually be outnumbered by them.

"Yes," he said, heading over. He wasn't going to shout if he didn't have to. "Although I might be a bit rusty. I haven't needed to in a while." And indeed, he has a bit of an accent, but it's mild at most.

"Not as rusty as some of the fellows running around this place, eh?" he said, smirking just a little. "I'm not used to so many machines in one place..."

Well, that gets a bit of a smirk out of him. For about half a second. It might have been a full second if this were another, less worrying situation.

"I haven't seen any robots quite so large before," he said with a slight frown. Lots of robots in one place? Yeah, sure, all the time, but there were usually around three feet tall.

"I've seen a few," he said. "But they tend to be rare, and they're never this smart."

He didn't feel any need to elaborate that these were heartless machines he was talking about. Enough that he'd seen machines.

"If I'm not mistaken, I think those gathered here are from quite a few different worlds, as well," he said. "But none I've ever heard of..."

"... and goodness, how impolite of me not to introduce myself. My name is Luxord," he said.
