OPENING LOG: Awakening

WHO: Everybody!
WHERE: The Junk Pile.
WHEN: Right here, right now.
WHAT: Game opening! Our Heroes find themselves in a strange place not of their own world, however familiar (or not) it may be.

Consciousness is slow, and a struggle to obtain. The moments before darkness are hazy enough; a great vertigo, a twisting, and then, falling. Falling for what seemed like forever. And when you are finally aware of your surroundings, it is most decidedly not where you came from.

Instead, you are now in what appears to be a wasteland. A wasteland...of junk. Debris as far as you can see, heaped in mini-mountains that offer only so good of a view of the world around you. Perhaps in the distance, you can make out some flatter land, perhaps you can just make out what looks like a crevice - but it's difficult at best. The light here is all wrong, the two greatest sources being a white line in the alien sky that doesn't so much give off light as simply have it - and something in the south that glows like a setting sun.

You may or may not notice it at first, but you, too, have something alien - something on your arm, more likely than not. A marking that glows softly, but offers no clue as to how it got there - no pain, no sensitivity. It's simply there, as you are here.

So.

Now what?

((OOC: This is it, you guys! Have a blast! Please remember to keep everything under the first thread for now; we'll be adding the Firstforged in in a little bit...

OKAY There is now a second thread to post in! Feel free to make new threads there to react to the arrival of the Firstforged, or respond directly to the Firstforged themselves.))

Starscream's first reaction of course was to sort of flail about. Well, try to flail about, it was rather difficult with an overly large jet practically on top of him.

...

Wait.

Something seemed off.

But first thing was first. The seeker struggled against the weight of Jetfire and of course went out of his way to make his presence very known.

"Get off me you overgrown scientific calculator before I --!"

The rest of what he said was mostly muffled, but to paraphrase it was a long rambling tangent full of colorful insults and how much he hated the universe as a whole.

And of course how this whole thing was entirely Jetfire's fault.

When Starscream spoke up, the connection between both of them being back to correct size after several months of being the same height finally clicked and dragged his attention away from the other things he was trying wrap his cerebro-circuits around.

Shifting so he wasn't lying completely on top of the Seeker, Jetfire tilted his helm and stared while Starscream proceeded to insult him to Earth and back (since this definitely wasn't Earth, it was a safe comparison).

"Are you done?" He finally spoke up when Starscream looped back to "overgrown calculator" and interrupted him while standing up, offering a hand for him to take.

When Jetfire finally got off of him and stood up, Starscream did the mature thing and smacked his hand away. It didn't matter if they were back to their normal size. Starscream was still Starscream.

"No. What is going on?! What did you do?!"

He shoved himself up and turned to directly face the larger jet. Of course Jetfire had to have done something to get them sent to this strange place.

There was no other rational explanation.

Watching Starscream shove himself upright, Jetfire wasn't sure whether to be amused or exasperated. Honestly, who did Starscream think he was? If he was really capable of getting them away from the Keep under his own power, wouldn't he have done so months ago?

... Though then, quite a few things wouldn't have happened.

"Because I do have an interdimensionally-capable portable space-bridge in my subspace. What am I supposed to have done?" Shaking his helm, Jetfire walked around Starscream to pick up his helm, and caught sight of... hm. That's strange.

The detachable paired gun-mounts lying discarded and half-buried under some rubble nearby.

"I woke up just moments before you. All I remember is falling, and before that going to recharge at the Keep." Staring into the unlit visor of his helmet, Jetfire then looked back at Starscream and shrugged.

"Presumably either Lord Deior was correct, and he restored the multiverse as it should be and we were sent... well, this isn't home, so elsewhere. Or he was lying, and whatever brought us here simply disrupted whatever containment field was keeping us at the Keep to pull us here." Looking up at the sky and the strange, black, starless tear with its white line in the middle, he noted something he'd not seen before.

"... There's two moons."

"You did something. I don't know what, but this is somehow your fault."

Because he had no one else in his presence to blame it on. Sure he could say it was Lord Deior, but he didn't seem to be around and Jetfire was an easier target.

Then again, Jetfire was always an easier target.

"What?" Starscream's looked up to see what was so exciting, but just snorted and shrugged it off.

"So? Several planetary systems have multiple moons, Jetfire. Unless all your knowledge on space study is somehow corrupted, I don't see why you are so amazed."

Something did seem familiar about the planet they were on though, not that Starscream would say anything about it.

"If it is, I'll hope I don't come to regret doing it, then." Not that he believed he'd done anything; he had nothing that could pull them through dimensions on his own, after all. Starscream's dismissal earned a slight shake of his helm, and another indication upwards.

"Multiple natural satellites are indeed the most usual configuration in the ratio of planet to natural satellite in solar systems across the galaxy, but most of them, usually do not share the features of the moons of Cybertron, Starscream." Because that's what they looked like. Of course, it wasn't an exact fit... But if this was another reality's Cybertron than their own, it made sense that the moons wouldn't look the same.

A bit of attention paid to the details wouldn't hurt, now would it, Starscream?

Jetfire vented softly and walked over to where the gun mounts were half-hidden to dig them out, tucking his helm under one arm. When looking around, he found the pieces of the dismanted little drone they'd been given at the Keep.

"... Is there anything around here that's familiar to you?" Turning around, Jetfire presented his helm as well as some of the pieces to the furby he'd picked apart, having attached the gun mounts to their spots on his forearms.

"Because at least this," he said with a nod to his helmet, "shouldn't be here."

"Blah, blah blah. You don't know if this is Cybertron or not. Last time I checked, Cybertron wasn't full of junk."

Besides, Starscream rarely paid attention to little details. That was one of his biggest flaws in life. (You know, aside from the overly huge ego and all)

"... Not that I've seen. But I don't make a habit of carrying around knick-knacks anyway."

Jetfire probably wouldn't know what a knick-knack is, but that was perfectly okay, Starscream didn't really either.

"But if there is something around here that belongs to me, I hope it's something good."

Or maybe something like Megatron's fusion cannon. Yeah. He could totally use that.

Or even Megatron's head. Just his disembodied head that he could put on a shelf somewhere as a reminder of how awesome Starscream himself was.
angleofscience: (inquisitive - how much data?)

[personal profile] angleofscience 2012-06-27 10:12 am (UTC)(link)
"'Full of'?" Gesturing around them with a sweeping wave of his hand, Jetfire gave Starscream a brief stare and then shook his helm. "We've just woken up here, and this particular area has all this... ah, detrius. We don't even know how far it stretches, so why assume it covers the whole planet?"

If he'd have known about it, Jetfire would have said something about this probably not being Junkion. As it was, however...

"Though, if it's not Cybertron, I assume it could be the location, or a similar such, where the junk from Cybertron that was tossed through the space bridge ended up... As long as that location had two moons." Another glance upward, and even if the light was bad and the view was somewhat disrupted by the tear in the sky, those moons definitely looked like Cybertron's moons. Maybe less... worn, though?

"You do have your null-rays still, so those wouldn't be here... Ah." Frowning and looking around, Jetfire did a quick overview of what was in his subspace and... He was missing one more item. "Starscream, if you see my rifle, pick it up for me? It doesn't seem to be in the immediate area."

Unlike all the other things, most of which he hadn't even had in the Keep. Curious.

"I'm not lugging around your over-compensating giant weapon."

Not that it'd be too heavy for him to carry around, but Starscream was slightly lazy and he wasn't going to do it just out of spite. Because he is Starscream.

He huffed and walked farther into the junk, kicking random debris out of the way as he moved.

"How do you know it doesn't cover the whole planet anyway? As far as I can see, it's nothing but random rubble! We go from one slagging hell-hole to another. I can't believe this."

Yes, Starscream was probably going to spend his remaining time complaining about everything.
angleofscience: (too little input - find more data)

[personal profile] angleofscience 2012-06-30 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Following after Starscream and keeping an optic out as they walked, Jetfire shook his helm even if he was walking behind Starscream.

"I'm not asking you to carry it around, you know. Merely to alert me if you find it. I could possibly make a new one, but I do prefer my old rifle." He'd made it when he'd finally become a lot less... passive about fighting. It wasn't a moment he relished remembering, but it had seemed - had been - necessary then, and was still so.

"Over-compensating? It's a perfectly normal size for me, and for what it's made for, Starscream. While I admit making it double-barreled might have been too much, a particle rifle needs to have a minimum size according to the power and energy it creates..." Idly trailing a finger down along the upper edge of Starscream's wing as he spoke, Jetfire just shook his helm at the second comment.

"Why are you assuming it does? And I don't know, obviously, but it would be just as much of a faulty assumption to say it does, as it would be that it doesn't. We don't know, and need more data. To scout out the surroundings before we make pessimistic proclamations of the state of this planet."
