OPENING LOG: Awakening

WHO: Everybody!
WHERE: The Junk Pile.
WHEN: Right here, right now.
WHAT: Game opening! Our Heroes find themselves in a strange place not of their own world, however familiar (or not) it may be.

Consciousness is slow, and a struggle to obtain. The moments before darkness are hazy enough; a great vertigo, a twisting, and then, falling. Falling for what seemed like forever. And when you are finally aware of your surroundings, it is most decidedly not where you came from.

Instead, you are now in what appears to be a wasteland. A wasteland...of junk. Debris as far as you can see, heaped in mini-mountains that offer only so good of a view of the world around you. Perhaps in the distance, you can make out some flatter land, perhaps you can just make out what looks like a crevice - but it's difficult at best. The light here is all wrong, the two greatest sources being a white line in the alien sky that doesn't so much give off light as simply have it - and something in the south that glows like a setting sun.

You may or may not notice it at first, but you, too, have something alien - something on your arm, more likely than not. A marking that glows softly, but offers no clue as to how it got there - no pain, no sensitivity. It's simply there, as you are here.

So.

Now what?

((OOC: This is it, you guys! Have a blast! Please remember to keep everything under the first thread for now; we'll be adding the Firstforged in in a little bit...

OKAY There is now a second thread to post in! Feel free to make new threads there to react to the arrival of the Firstforged, or respond directly to the Firstforged themselves.))

Was that a little bit of guilt amid the confusion in Optimus's tone?

"Tell that to your scientists. Or your Magnus, perhaps? It was his ship after all," Starscream purred, leaning down and prodding the autobot right on his brand.

"Not a clue. Then again, I could be lying. Have you tried calling for any of your buddies?" The magenta jet would have done so himself, except for the fact that everyone in the Decepticon army wanted him dead at the moment.

He refused to flinch as the claw met the metal of his shoulder, offering him a cold look.

"Ultra Magnus wouldn't stand for torture," he said firmly, despite his own uncertainty.

There was no way the Autobots would have resorted to torturing Starscream. Despite everything he'd done, despite his faction - no one deserved that. It was a line that separated them from the Decepticons. The scientists might have... studied Starscream's code while he'd been held captive, but... torturing it out of him?

"If we're both trapped here, lying isn't going to help you escape anymore than it will help me."

He wasn't about to freely offer up the fact he hadn't been able to contact his team.

"Of course not. I expect he sat for it. Considering how long it took!" Starscream cackled.

Unfortunately, as amusing as messing with Optimus was, the enjoyment was starting to wear off as reality crept in. He was wasting time- time better spent figuring out where he was.

"Lying, no. But flying, maybe. I'm out of here, unless you have any other ideas."

He wouldn't even dignify him with a response.

While he refused to give Starscream a reaction, it had planted the tiniest seed of doubt in his mind. What had happened aboard the Autobot vessel? Surely Ultra Magnus wouldn't have allowed any sort of invasive experimentation, even if it was Starscream. But then... why mention it? It seemed a bizarre thing to taunt him with, without reason.

Shoving the thoughts aside, he tried to focus on the situation at hand.

"I can't believe I'm even suggesting this, but... I think we have a better chance of finding a way out of here if we keep in contact."

Unless of course, Starscream found the exit first. Optimus knew better than to think that he'd offer him a way out. At least it doubled as an excuse to walk away unscathed.

The jet was turning away when Optimus finally spoke up.

"Asking for my comm code on the first date? How forward of you!" he said with a leer. Was the autobot really that naive? Could he really be unaware that the deal he was offering benefited Starscream the most?

Perhaps that was why he'd even bothered to suggest it.

"Okay, autobot. You call me if you find something," he agreed, transmitting his personal comm frequency with a grin.

This was a stupid plan. Optimus had no idea what he was thinking.

Starscream wasn't going to help him - and tracking him based on comm signal alone wasn't going to be an exact science. He already knew that the Decepticons could mask their energy signature, but if he had his frequency, there was at least a slim chance he could keep track of the other 'bot.

Slim... was better than none. At least he'd be able to tell if he was still in the same universe.

"You can count on it."

Optimus turned to leave, hesitating for a long moment. They both knew that Starscream wouldn't hesitate to leave him in this scrapheap - so transferring his own frequency was a pointless effort.

"I'm sure you'll be in touch," he said dryly, finally forwarding his own commlink information, albeit reluctantly.
