OPENING LOG: Awakening

WHO: Everybody!
WHERE: The Junk Pile.
WHEN: Right here, right now.
WHAT: Game opening! Our Heroes find themselves in a strange place not of their own world, however familiar (or not) it may be.

Consciousness is slow, and a struggle to obtain. The moments before darkness are hazy enough; a great vertigo, a twisting, and then, falling. Falling for what seemed like forever. And when you are finally aware of your surroundings, it is most decidedly not where you came from.

Instead, you are now in what appears to be a wasteland. A wasteland...of junk. Debris as far as you can see, heaped in mini-mountains that offer only so good of a view of the world around you. Perhaps in the distance, you can make out some flatter land, perhaps you can just make out what looks like a crevice - but it's difficult at best. The light here is all wrong, the two greatest sources being a white line in the alien sky that doesn't so much give off light as simply have it - and something in the south that glows like a setting sun.

You may or may not notice it at first, but you, too, have something alien - something on your arm, more likely than not. A marking that glows softly, but offers no clue as to how it got there - no pain, no sensitivity. It's simply there, as you are here.

So.

Now what?

((OOC: This is it, you guys! Have a blast! Please remember to keep everything under the first thread for now; we'll be adding the Firstforged in in a little bit...

OKAY There is now a second thread to post in! Feel free to make new threads there to react to the arrival of the Firstforged, or respond directly to the Firstforged themselves.))

The Brave Detective is almost startled to hear an answer to the fuss hes making, and really he feels instantly sheepish. It's probably pretty stupid to give away his position like that- but he's finding it really hard to care.

Yuuta is gone, damn it. He's always been charged with protecting him, making sure he's safe and happy and he's utterly failing that right now.

His internal strife is interrupted however, when he turns to see the source of the voice.

Another robot- he's never seen this one before. It looks like it could be a BP model, but where Deckerd is made to look, act and sound like a human, that's not the feeling he gets from this one. Still... he's obviously not a threat. Friendly.

He holsters his gun and briefly raises his hands in a disarming gesture.

He didn't understand most of what Ratchet said. He knows it's English (proper English, not that nonsense Gunmax occasionally tags onto his sentences).

He hopes, if the bot understands English he'll understand Japanese, too...

"I'm looking for a boy. Nine years old? Dark hair. Answers to 'Tomonaga Yuuta'. Have you seen any children around?" He pauses, suddenly unsure, "Human children?"

Couldn't hurt to specify. He's curious about this new robot. Is he a BP model? Who made him?

However, his curiosity will have to wait. There's more important matters at hand.

Ratchet relaxes, even smiles a little when the mech holsters his gun, but then he starts speaking and, well. That is not English or Cybertronian. Still, never say that Ratchet's not one to be prepared. They'd charged themselves with protecting all of the human race, after all, not just the Americans, so he'd learned the most common other languages. That said, it's not as if he'd had a chance to practice much (or at all). Out of Deckard's sentence he was able to parse out that the bot was looking for a nine-year-old boy of some sort, but ... what was a "Tomonaga Yuuta"?

"Ah... sorry, but I do not have a lot of Japanese." He winces internally at the halting, clumsy nature of his speech, but soldiers on. "I've seen only one boy. He is not what you are looking for.

He pauses a bit longer, then decides to offer, "Could I help you look?"

[[ ooc: Take an English sentence, Google Translate it to Japanese, then put it back to English. Voila, you get Ratchet's horrifying translation capabilities. ]]

Deckerd brightens visibly when he hears the familiar canter of his native language, broken as it is. He's so relieved he could laugh. He won't- afraid the bot might take it as an insult. Instead he smiles fondly, appreciating his attempt. He speaks decently for someone who obviously isn't a native speaker.

He tries to slow himself down when he talks, he has a habit of speaking quickly, but when he slows he's fairly easy to understand since he uses the polite form of everything.

"That's okay. I can understand, that's all that matters," There's a brief pause, "My name is Deckerd. I'm a detective with the Brave Police. I certainly won't say no to any help. But... could you tell me where we are by any chance? Are you a BP model?"

He presents his badge, as if that would offer some kind of credibility to someone who's probably never even heard of the Brave Police.

Mentally, Ratchet sends a thank you up to Primus that they have a ... well. A somewhat common language. Although he's certainly got some luck running into a second man-made bot.

You'd have thought that I'd know about some of these, being on Earth for so long. Are they all new?

But that's not important right now. What is, is communication and trying to find this... Deckerd's (?) boy.

"BP? Ah... hm. No. I'm not like you. I am a ... //Cybertronian//. Autonomous robot comes from the planet //Cybertron//... it is there where we might be. If the star is right."

He points up when he says that last mangled phrase, indicating that the constellations are very much not those seen on Earth. Heck, they aren't really those of the Cybertron that Ratchet remembers, but there are enough of the main ones evident, that he feels comfortable indicating that they might be somewhere close.

"Saibaturonian?" For as much as Ratchet struggles to speak Japanese, Deckerd struggles with everything else. he chews on the word awkwardly, cocking his head.

"You mean you're not built by humans?" Unfortunately for Ratchet Deckerd hasn't been canon updated to have seen an alien the concept of someone from beyond the stars is pretty fresh to him. However he accepts it fairly quickly. There's certainly no denial there. He just seems mostly confused.

"Ah... hm." He has a lot more to ask, but right now they're wasting time.

"I suppose we should get to looking."

"Ah... yes." Close enough, in Ratchet's estimation.

"No, humans did not create me." And then Ratchet nods in agreement. "We might search better apart than together. Do you have a comm channel at all?"

patokichi: (That makes sense...)

[personal profile] patokichi 2012-06-29 04:59 am (UTC)(link)
He'll curb his curiosity for now, it's obviously awkward to talk right now. Later, when they've figured some things out maybe. When he's found the others.

"Yes," He nods, taking out his badge and flipping it open. "This functions as a means of communication between myself and my team."

He also has the internal comm, but he'll keep that to himself.

"Hmm." Ratchet reaches for the badge, curiosity on his face. "Can I take a look? If I can connect my ... comm link ... to it, I could contact you if I find Yuuta."

He's never had to find a Japanese translation for most technical terms, so he waves at where human ears would go on his head, hoping that his meaning comes across.
patokichi: (because I'm adorable)

They seem to be communicating fairly well for only being able to understand each other half the time.

He'll gladly hand over his badge, holding it out for Ratchet to take.

Maybe a little too trusting of him, but what else does he have right now aside from the kindness of strangers?
docbot: (ee oh eleven)

Ratchet takes the badge and gives it a scan. The technology is very obviously human made which, in a contradictory sort of way, makes it harder for him to figure it out. After a little technological fumbling, he has enough of a handle on its frequency to at least send a burst of static if nothing else.

He hands it back to Deckerd, then makes a 'telephone' handsign before moving back a bit and attempting send something over the frequency through his comm link.

//You can hear me?//
patokichi: (Thumbs up!)

[personal profile] patokichi 2012-07-01 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
He watches and nods when Ratchet steps back. A moment later his badge comm crackles to life and he gives Ratchet a thumbs up.

"Loud and clear!"

Well. Easy as that, then isn't it?
docbot: (save a horse)

[personal profile] docbot 2012-07-02 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
"Good!"

Ratchet gives him a thumbs up in return.

"We will ... split now?"

patokichi: (Yes boss!)

[personal profile] patokichi 2012-07-02 06:01 am (UTC)(link)
Deckerd nods again to confirm, and with a quick salute and a smile he turns to continue his search.

"Thank you again!"

He'll take the time to chat later.

Right now...

No. Not right now.
