OPENING LOG: Awakening

WHO: Everybody!
WHERE: The Junk Pile.
WHEN: Right here, right now.
WHAT: Game opening! Our Heroes find themselves in a strange place not of their own world, however familiar (or not) it may be.

Consciousness is slow, and a struggle to obtain. The moments before darkness are hazy enough; a great vertigo, a twisting, and then, falling. Falling for what seemed like forever. And when you are finally aware of your surroundings, it is most decidedly not where you came from.

Instead, you are now in what appears to be a wasteland. A wasteland...of junk. Debris as far as you can see, heaped in mini-mountains that offer only so good of a view of the world around you. Perhaps in the distance, you can make out some flatter land, perhaps you can just make out what looks like a crevice - but it's difficult at best. The light here is all wrong, the two greatest sources being a white line in the alien sky that doesn't so much give off light as simply have it - and something in the south that glows like a setting sun.

You may or may not notice it at first, but you, too, have something alien - something on your arm, more likely than not. A marking that glows softly, but offers no clue as to how it got there - no pain, no sensitivity. It's simply there, as you are here.

So.

Now what?

((OOC: This is it, you guys! Have a blast! Please remember to keep everything under the first thread for now; we'll be adding the Firstforged in in a little bit...

OKAY There is now a second thread to post in! Feel free to make new threads there to react to the arrival of the Firstforged, or respond directly to the Firstforged themselves.))

Luxord unzipped the top of his coat, shrugging the shoulder just low enough so that McCrane could see the glowing symbol.

"Yes, me as well."
mccrane: (Thinking--looking up at sky)

[personal profile] mccrane 2012-06-24 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
Nodding, McCrane finally took a chance and lowered his weapon. Communication was not going to progress at all, if he did not have his hands, and right now finding out information was growing increasingly more important than defense.

"I don't speak much English, but I can understand a little," he said. "It is at least good to know that you're from earth."

If this human was here, though, that meant he had to have arrived from somewhere....and most of the English words he knew involved technology. "Spaceship?" He asked, pointing up toward the sky and tilting his head. It was possible that Luxord remembered more about his awakening than he did.
rotafortunae: (from blinding heights)

I... assume that last sentence was Japanese.

[personal profile] rotafortunae 2012-06-24 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
"No, not a space ship. Don't know."

He could gather at least from the sentence that... something about an 'earth,' which seemed a place.

"What's 'earth'?"
mccrane: (worried--head tilt)

Everything but 'spaceship!' I'll try to be more clear. x-x

[personal profile] mccrane 2012-06-24 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
Thankfully, he knew of 'what.' Gunmax had said 'what' plenty of times. He also knew 'no,' which made this considerably better.

"Earth..." he trailed off, surprised that a person could speak English and not know what earth was. Crouching, he found a dusty refrigerator, and traced an (admittedly large) picture of earth on it, continents and all.

"I was built on earth." He stated, slowly, in Japanese, but with 'Earth' in English, and looked to Luxord to go with one of the few other english words he knew. "You?"

That sure was an odd looking world. No visible buildings on it anywhere, just weird blobby things. It looked terribly dull.

He managed to gather enough that the machine was asking where he was from, or something to that effect. He shook his head.

"Not Earth," he said. As for where he was actually from, well, he wasn't going to say a word on that. Let the other fellow think that it was too hard to explain through waving one's arms.
mccrane: (Surprised--uncertain Question-mark head)

[personal profile] mccrane 2012-06-24 08:01 pm (UTC)(link)
McCrane could only stare.

This human, somehow, was really trying to tell McCrane that he wasn't from earth. Given the strangeness of his situation, this wasn't as odd as it might have been, but it was still highly unlikely. Could Luxord have been an alien?

Confusion was written all over his faceplates, and he shook his head--understanding, but not believing.

"Humans..." he said in Japanese, pointing at Luxord. "Are from Earth." A poke at the crude drawing. "How else do you speak English?"
rotafortunae: (runs through my veins)

[personal profile] rotafortunae 2012-06-24 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)
"There are other..." What would be the easiest word? "Worlds. Planets."

Luxord leaned over and dotted the sky around this Earth with smaller circles. Crude drawings of other worlds: Radiant Garden with its palace, Twilight Town with its clockwork belltower, Wonderland with its hedge maze... he left the others blank, figuring it illustrated the point well enough.

"Humans, humans, humans," he said, pointing to each one. And then, well, might as well provide the exceptions to the rules. He sketched in the Pridelands and Disney Castle. "Not humans, not humans."
mccrane: (Surprised--curious closeup)

[personal profile] mccrane 2012-06-24 09:07 pm (UTC)(link)
This explanation, for all its simplicity, was brilliant.

It was also completely boggling to McCrane. Humans were on more planets than one? And this human had gone to all these planets? The drawings of the worlds was perplexing enough to him, but it was possible that, wherever he was from, worlds were designated by the more prominent buildings on them. His world, in that case...

He drew Tokyo tower on top of his Earth, and peered toward Luxord to see if that made it more accessible for him.

Then, thinking one step further, he drew a small, blank circle with a question-mark in it, and pointed down to the ground they stood on. "What world is this?"
rotafortunae: (you can't deny the prize)

[personal profile] rotafortunae 2012-06-24 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Suddenly, everything made sense: the peculiar language (he KNEW he'd heard Zexion practicing it before), the symbols, the... odd behavior of this fellow (though none of Vexen's reports had mentioned robots?)... of course.

"Shibuya?" he asked.
mccrane: (Smile--with a headtilt)

[personal profile] mccrane 2012-06-24 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
"Shibuya, yes!" McCrane's eyes glowed a little brighter, suddenly hitting on a point of common ground. "In Japan. On Earth."

He pointed at the tower again, and then at himself. "This is where I am from."

He drew a line from the tower to the planet he'd put the question mark in, indicating that that circle meant this world. "This is where we are." He gestured to the piles of junk.

Then he pointed to the question mark, and drew what he hoped looked like a pile of junk on top of it. His drawing skills were'd on par with Drill Boy's, but it would have to do.

"Do you know where we are, now?"
rotafortunae: (forget how to feel)

[personal profile] rotafortunae 2012-06-24 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Giant robots from Shibuya. Apparently, Demyx's initial assessment of that planet had been completely incorrect ("Well there was this one cool guy who was like all about hanging out and we had ramen, BUT THEN OH GOD SOMEONE STARTED TALKING ABOUT MATH"), but that was par for the course when it came to Demyx.

"No, sorry," said Luxord. This wasn't any world known to him.
mccrane: (standing--long side view)

[personal profile] mccrane 2012-06-25 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
Luxord didn't know.

So that meant this human, this alien human, was just as lost as he was. It also meant that he wasn't going to be getting any answers, here.

McCrane signed, and nodded.

He'd learned some things, but it wasn't enough to get him back home. "I should continue my investigation," he offered knowing that Luxord wouldn't particularly understand, but feeling stranger to say nothing at all.

Instead, he stared at the refrigerator, and pointed to the line that connected his Earth with this, garbage-filled world. "Not Spaceship," he said, in English, and looked back to see if Luxord had any idea how he'd gotten here, if not via ship. If not...then it was time for him to move on.

[personal profile] rotafortunae 2012-06-25 02:01 pm (UTC)(link)
He at least got the gist of it, some sort of 'I should be going' thing, he supposed. As to that question...

There was no way in Shadow he was going to be able to explain Dark Corridors through pictograms, so he just shrugged.
mccrane: (worried--looking down his nose)

[personal profile] mccrane 2012-06-25 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
"Are you going to be alright here, if I go?" he asked in Japanese, in case any of the words made to Luxord. He wasn't particularly eager to abandon a human who was as lost as he was, but there was nothing about this one that indicated any distress.

Considering his language again, he tried in english: "You okay?"

[personal profile] rotafortunae 2012-06-26 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
Luxord chuckled.

"I'm fine, no need to worry yourself about me," he said, and then amended it with something a little simpler. "I'm okay."
mccrane: (Smile--gonna walk away)

[personal profile] mccrane 2012-06-27 05:12 pm (UTC)(link)
That was good enough for him. He offered a bow of the head, and a "It was nice to meet you. Good luck," in Japanese, even knowing the other wouldn't understand.

Then, he moved to continue on.

He would, however, glance back several times, just in case, still hesitant about leaving someone that he was coded to protect.

Luxord gave a jaunty wave, then started off in the opposite direction. Of course, the second time McCrane looked back, Luxord was gone completely, having decided to take a Corridor across the empty plain.
mccrane: (Surprised--WTF)

[personal profile] mccrane 2012-06-27 06:09 pm (UTC)(link)
That...would be a more than a little disturbing to him. When he doesn't see you the second time, he'd go to investigate the spot where you should have been, wondering if you'd just managed to get around some pile in the junk and got lost to sight.

Not finding you will make him more than a little bit perplexed.

However, there is nothing to do about it, so he'd log it for later questioning and continue on.
