A formal dance.

WHO: Everyone!
WHERE: The Atrium, Haven's Hub.
WHEN: Today! The dance will go on from the late afternoon until the early hours of the morning.
WHAT: Have your top hat and cane? This is a formal ball. The origination is a drunken Vandal and battle-worn Saber.
WARNINGS: Could be anything from bar fights to drunken swearing to people tripping over their own feet or people making out in a corner.

Welcome to the dance!

The Atrium will have its doors open in the late evening. For the first two hours, Vandal and Drift will be acting as receptionist and bouncer. After that, the doors close. At the reception desk, you will be required to sign your name and also hand over any weapons that you are carrying. (Within the building there is an inhibitor placed. No one will be able to use any weaponry on their person.)

The Atrium is decorated in royal purple and black, with accents of white and pearl. The decorations are standard fair for a ball. There's hanging draperies, table clothes, and colored lighting. Towards the outside of the circular Atrium, everyone will be under a glowing white light. Towards the middle of the dance floor, there is a much softer lavender that illuminates the immediate area.

Vandal and Saber organized and planned, and then helped with decorations. They will also be over seeing the event throughout the entire night. Vandal will be handling the reception desk and registration. We have Frenzy as our DJ in the Atrium, and Miko will be playing electric guitar for those who decide to visit the bar. Saber, Ironhide, and McCrane will be acting as security. They would be the best to contact should you have any.. safety concerns. Our bouncer, Drift, will be "on call" for security once his primary assignment is done. Kay organized and lead the decorating, and Ravage and McCrane helped with placing them. Melan and Joe gathered needed materials. Skidaddle is the one to blame for having the supply of available hats at the doors for any Cybertronian who tries to get past the one piece of attire rule.

Feel free to post in any sub-forum area you think your character would be present in (with or without an opening post), or merely tag others. Prose or action-spam is okay (and you may want to include this in your initial posts if you want others to tag you). Bonus: include links to garments your character may be wearing. This is entirely up to you! Have fun!

Make sure to add your character to the tags! (That's the registry.)

Thundercracker realized that he'd probably regret this whole ridiculous affair. Firstly, a high congregation of people was rarely a good thing in his experience, just in general. Inevitably, there were . . . issues . . . that came up as personalities and tempers and ideals clashed. And secondly . . . well, maybe it was because he'd been a Decepticon for almost as long as he'd been functional - which was an impressively long time, as he was among the oldest still surviving - but he didn't like going into places where he didn't feel he could properly defend himself. He'd kept himself alive from threats both outside and within his faction by being . . . prudent . . . in all things.

Still, he was here. No one could accuse him of being anti-social. He'd been to the reception desk, then was pointed over this way. Something about "formal wear" which he still didn't fully understand the necessity for. As a lifelong soldier, the blue Seeker was nothing if not practical. Decorative accoutrements just threatened to get in his way.

He recognized the Autobot from a brief conversation some weeks ago now. Well, at least he wasn't approaching a complete stranger. He nodded a greeting, then stated without preambled, "I'm told I have to have a hat."

It had been a long time since he'd seen a military-class flight model up close--and Whirl didn't count. He always forgot how large they could seem.

On the plus side, this one had excellent taste in color scheme, and, being partial to blue himself, Skids had made a fair number of blue-accented hats.

"You don't sound very thrilled by the idea."

He only wishes Rodimus were here, so that he could be equally un-thrilled by the idea of hats while having to wear one.

"Not trying to match anyone else, I'm going to guess, in which case..." He glanced down at his pile. "What's your favorite color?"

It wasn't a trick question, but he was staring right at one with a blue ribbon and a red shock of feather.

"Not particularly," he responds with a grimace to the first comment. "Seems . . . frivolous."

Maybe he'd just been at war for too long, but then, he'd always been a rather utilitarian mech.

He cycled a sigh through his vents and shook his head. From his angle, he couldn't tell that Skids was looking at any article in particular . . . though to be honest, that one had caught his optic as well. Still, he's not overly partial. "I don't know. Whatever won't make me look ridiculous, I guess. More ridiculous."

"I think that is the point. When you look a little silly, you're less likely to pull out a gun and shoot the mech you're dancing with. It keeps the atmosphere light."

Bending down, he grabbed the hat in question, and looked up at Thundercracker.

"Given the fact that plenty will be drinking tonight who used to fight each other on a regular basis, I definitely appreciate 'light.'"

Because, really, no one wanted to go home with a few holes in their fuel lines.

"Here." Motioning for the seeker to bend down a bit, he held up the hat to put it on his head.

"Hm. 'Light' is good in that respect, yeah." He nodded, definitely able to see that logic. It still amazed him some of the friends and acquaintances he'd made here – two of his closer friends were an Autobot and a Neutral.

He stepped closer and crouched, letting the smaller mech put the hat on. Huh, maybe this wasn't so bad.

"Look. It fits."

It fit a little better when he deftly slipped a pair of magnets in it to hold it onto the Seeker's head, but all in all it wasn't bad. It was...probably the last thing he'd expected to be doing in his lifetime. Ever.

But not bad.

"If those guns on your arms come off, might not be a bad idea to remove them. You know. For the sake of lightness."

Thundercracker reached up to touch the hat, exploring it a bit. At the comment, he scowled, hand dropping to lightly grip the opposite rifle. His optics flicked over to the check-in desk. His tone is somewhere between a soft growl and just sullen. "Once I have 'proper accoutrement', I'm to report back over there and 'relinquish my weaponry' until I leave." He understands it – really, he does.

Doesn't mean he has to like it.

"If it helps any...its not you I'm worried about."

Thundercracker was threatening enough without the weaponry. He was not insane, however, which put him a few steps above someone such as...say...Whirl. Who, even when disarmed, managed to start fires.

"And cheer up. The hat looks good on you. I'm sure its good for at least one free drink."

Considering they were all free.
