A formal dance.

WHO: Everyone!
WHERE: The Atrium, Haven's Hub.
WHEN: Today! The dance will go on from the late afternoon until the early hours of the morning.
WHAT: Have your top hat and cane? This is a formal ball. The origination is a drunken Vandal and battle-worn Saber.
WARNINGS: Could be anything from bar fights to drunken swearing to people tripping over their own feet or people making out in a corner.

Welcome to the dance!
     The Atrium will have its doors open in the late evening. For the first two hours, Vandal and Drift will be acting as receptionist and bouncer. After that, the doors close. At the reception desk, you will be required to sign your name and also hand over any weapons that you are carrying. (Within the building there is an inhibitor placed. No one will be able to use any weaponry on their person.)

     The Atrium is decorated in royal purple and black, with accents of white and pearl. The decorations are standard fair for a ball. There's hanging draperies, table clothes, and colored lighting. Towards the outside of the circular Atrium, everyone will be under a glowing white light. Towards the middle of the dance floor, there is a much softer lavender that illuminates the immediate area.

     Vandal and Saber organized and planned, and then helped with decorations. They will also be over seeing the event throughout the entire night. Vandal will be handling the reception desk and registration. We have Frenzy as our DJ in the Atrium, and Miko will be playing electric guitar for those who decide to visit the bar. Saber, Ironhide, and McCrane will be acting as security. They would be the best to contact should you have any.. safety concerns. Our bouncer, Drift, will be "on call" for security once his primary assignment is done. Kay organized and lead the decorating, and Ravage and McCrane helped with placing them. Melan and Joe gathered needed materials. Skidaddle is the one to blame for having the supply of available hats at the doors for any Cybertronian who tries to get past the one piece of attire rule.

     Feel free to post in any sub-forum area you think your character would be present in (with or without an opening post), or merely tag others. Prose or action-spam is okay (and you may want to include this in your initial posts if you want others to tag you). Bonus: include links to garments your character may be wearing. This is entirely up to you! Have fun!

[His hands curl around her, as close to a hug as he's ever been able to give to her.]

I've seen it, yes. [His head tilts.] You're so dressed up.

[And she hugs back, accepting it as much as she would if he were human. But she does take the time to pat her dress down, laughing.]

Yeah! I wanted to make sure I was fancy enough!

You really are.

[He smiles at her again. It's... strange. Why does he feel so proud of her? When all she's done is wear a dress...]

Should we... dance?

[Why does she feel so..happy? It's like she got an A+ on a school paper (which never happens). Her hands go to her cheeks, a bit flustered.]

I thought you'd never ask...

I... wasn't sure how to, actually.

[His hands withdraw, hovering over her uncertainly.]

How -- How are we...?

[HOW DOES HE DANCE WITH YOU, YOU'RE SO SMALL :C]

Don't you worry, I've got this covered.

[Her hands reach out, touching the tips of his fingers with her palms and holding them gently.]

Like this.

[She knows ): But that doesn't stop your daughter, Kagerou!]

[He crouches there, awkwardly, watching her. If she says she has this covered, more than likely, that's true. After all... she can't really get into trouble at a party, can she?]

[When she takes his fingers, he blinks a few times. Oh, so they have to hold... hands.]

You had this planned, didn't you?

[But he says it with the slightest of smiles, starting to move his hands back and forth a little.]

Mayyyybe a bit.

[She giggled, stepping along with those fingers. It was easier than she'd imagined it to be, honestly. Probably the easiest dance of the night, and Kagerou was even leading for her!]

You're a pretty good dancer, you know! ...It's probably not terribly exciting for you, is it.

[He has no idea what he's doing. He's just trying to imitate what he sees the others doing -- albeit with his hands, and not with the rest of his frame.]

[... But she seems so happy. He must be doing something right.]

Don't worry. I'm fine. It's... worth it, to make you so happy.

[And boy is she enjoying it. Every few minutes she's giggling, whether she's stepping over her own feet or just amazed at the fact that she's dancing with a giant robot.

Or better yet, her dad.]

You know, in high school there's this thing called a Father-Daughter dance. I never went.

But I'm making up for it now.

[He holds very still whenever she trips, letting her catch her feet again, before moving her carefully back and forth on the floor. It's good, to see her smile.]

[He has no idea how he grew so fond of a human being... but right now, he's all right with it.]

Then we need to make certain this one is worth it... don't we?

[... He tries to spin her in a circle.]

[Tries.]

[When he spins her, she twirls, giggling the whole time. It's amazing how despite not knowing what he's doing, he's a rather good dancer. With his hands.]

It already is, you silly!

Is it now?

[He spins her again, careful not to knock her down. As long as he's not waltzing around on his own left feet, he figures he can do this.]

...You have no idea.

[And she's spun, twirling in his hold more gracefully this time around. Really, she couldn't have asked for a better night.]

Are you going to dance with anyone tonight? Besides me, that is.

No?

[He stops the spinning for a moment, going back the the aimless sort of walking her around by her hands.]

I don't think so. I'm fine with just this.

[She stops dancing for a moment, looking...touched. That's so sweet, Kagerou, you're killing her.]

But there's so many people here!

[He shrugs slightly, but doesn't let her miss a beat.]

And I'm sure they'll be all right, dancing with each other instead.

...

You don't mind just dancing with me?

Why would I mind that?

I just didn't want to take up ALL your dancing time. In case you had someone else waiting!

[She giggles as she continues the dance, pulling the finger up and spinning under it before flowing back out. Literally, this was the time of her life.

A real father-daughter dance...sure, Kagerou wasn't biological...

But he was every bit the real thing.]

The only one I would... want to be my date is already waiting. At home.

[ ... Shadowmaru ... ]

[But Kay is family. She's just as good. And he cares for her very much, as well. He holds his hand steady for her, as she spins.]

[And smiles.]

[Just for her.]

Well, I just worry you'll get lonely.

[She holds those fingers, looking up at him with sparkling eyes.]

I like it when you smile...

Please don't worry. I want you to have fun tonight.

[And... he won't tell her that, yes, he is lonely. So very much. But there's nothing to be done about it, and there's no sense in making her more concerned.]

You do?

Same for you, Kagerou. It's your party too.

[If anything, Kagerou needed it more. He missed that other bot so much...it was a hard hole to fill.]

Yeah. It's almost like your whole face brightens up!

It's all right, Kay. It's worth it... to see you enjoying yourself.

[Because, in addition to the loneliness, there is still a lot of guilt floating around in his head -- he'd left her. He hadn't meant to, but he'd left her.]

[And the memory of her crying wasn't one he wanted to repeat.]
