A formal dance.
WHERE: The Atrium, Haven's Hub.
WHEN: Today! The dance will go on from the late afternoon until the early hours of the morning.
WHAT: Have your top hat and cane? This is a formal ball. The origination is a drunken Vandal and battle-worn Saber.
WARNINGS: Could be anything from bar fights to drunken swearing to people tripping over their own feet or people making out in a corner.
The Atrium will have its doors open in the late evening. For the first two hours, Vandal and Drift will be acting as receptionist and bouncer. After that, the doors close. At the reception desk, you will be required to sign your name and also hand over any weapons that you are carrying. (Within the building there is an inhibitor placed. No one will be able to use any weaponry on their person.) The Atrium is decorated in royal purple and black, with accents of white and pearl. The decorations are standard fair for a ball. There's hanging draperies, table clothes, and colored lighting. Towards the outside of the circular Atrium, everyone will be under a glowing white light. Towards the middle of the dance floor, there is a much softer lavender that illuminates the immediate area. Vandal and Saber organized and planned, and then helped with decorations. They will also be over seeing the event throughout the entire night. Vandal will be handling the reception desk and registration. We have Frenzy as our DJ in the Atrium, and Miko will be playing electric guitar for those who decide to visit the bar. Saber, Ironhide, and McCrane will be acting as security. They would be the best to contact should you have any.. safety concerns. Our bouncer, Drift, will be "on call" for security once his primary assignment is done. Kay organized and lead the decorating, and Ravage and McCrane helped with placing them. Melan and Joe gathered needed materials. Skidaddle is the one to blame for having the supply of available hats at the doors for any Cybertronian who tries to get past the one piece of attire rule. Feel free to post in any sub-forum area you think your character would be present in (with or without an opening post), or merely tag others. Prose or action-spam is okay (and you may want to include this in your initial posts if you want others to tag you). Bonus: include links to garments your character may be wearing. This is entirely up to you! Have fun! Make sure to add your character to the tags! (That's the registry.) |

Hello there~ ;D
"I'm impressed by the variety, and on such short notice, really... And it seems you've managed as well, Optimus." After a little pause, Elita reached out to brush her fingers down the cloak, curious about what material had been used.
"It suits you." She smiled over the edge of the cube as she said it while fingering the cloak, a little less careless than other times, perhaps because of the setting and their extra... decoration.
no subject
"As am I. But thank you. It is simply a costume I've had for some time." He nodded in agreement, holding out an arm to allow to her look over the cloak at her leisure. Optimus took the opportunity to more closely examine the crystals decorating Elita's frame.
"...I'd say your look is a good deal more impressive, though. You look lovely, Elita. Did you craft them yourself?"
no subject
She ran her fingers down the cloth a bit more thoughroughly at the wordless offer, her helm tilting slightly at his examination and held out her other arm a bit, letting the light play through the facets with her movements.
"Not so simple, I'd say. You look very impressive." Which was true enough; simple or not, the extravagant full flow of the red cloak, as well as the fall of it, underscored his lines and the simple authority the Prime carried himself with.
"Thank you." Her smile eas easy and deep as she nodded. "I did. Kind of. Barricade helped me, but we had a good base in the crystals from the trees out on the edge of Solus Prime's quadrant."
no subject
"Thank you. And ah yes, Barricade. He does have a variety of skills if I recall correctly," he smiles at the name, glad for the distraction as he silently tries to keep his examination of the crystals focused. They were lovely, but the simply served to enhance the wearer in his optics.
And this was supposed to be a dance, after all. Despite appearances, even he needed a moment to work up his own courage.
"Well, you both did a good job on them. They compliment you well."
no subject
"He does at that. If nothing else, a processor for design; he gave me a more elaborate idea of what to do with these," said Elita, touching a large crystal that hung down in the center of the raised front of her helm, the strings from there swinging up to twine around her antennae. She did like the elaborate collection of stings twined around her helm.
"We certainly tried, through a bit of trial and error... luckily these crystals are durable." She paused, helm tilting and optics glowing slightly stronger at compliments. "And I can use them for other things as well, if needed. I doubt there'll be many chances like this again." She nodded around the room to illustrate, even if the "fancy" part was probably just to add to the distraction of the event from the slightly stressful situation earlier of the worms everywhere.
And if she wasn't quite as interested as she was, with the added little awkwardnesses between them, Elita would already have asked. But give her a moment or two more and she might.
no subject
...There it was.
Moment of truth.
He held out a hand, smile gone wry but earnest nonetheless.
"...Perhaps as we dance? If I may have the honor?"
no subject
"I'd hardly say no, but I don't know any formal dances, just as a warning." She would still be able to follow along pretty easily as matching her movements to someone else's was something she was used to, fighting hand-to-hand usually.
no subject
"That simply means I have the pleasure of teaching you, if you wish."
A gentle tug had him leading her out to a relatively uninhabited section of the dance floor to give them room to move about - and room for mistakes.
"I'm hardly an expert, but I've had to attend a few formal functions in my time."
no subject
"Then I'll listen to the expert," siad Elita with a tilted smile and a jaunty flicker to her optics, pleased at simply having the chance to spend what seemed to be a simple, low-complication moment with Optimus.
no subject
He laughed, before moving to readjust their hands; left hands clasped lightly around her right, he guided her left to his waist armor before settling his hand on her shoulder, just under the joint for her 'wing'.
"We'll start with something simple, hmm? Just go back when I go forward, and come forward when I go back. Even someone as lead-footed as I can manage this. Though watch your feet - I'll ruin the fun if I step all over you."
He winked - he wasn't nearly as bad as all that - and gently moved to guide her through the steps.
no subject
"Will do. And I promise to not let you step on my feet. I'm much too quick for that, even if you happen to stumble." She grinned right back and while the first few steps were somewhat lingering, partly to get the feel of the music, partly the steps, and partly Optimus' rhythm.
No one could ever accuse Elita of being slow to learn, however, and very quickly she was moving with Optimus instead of being guided through the movements, a little smile on her lips as she took the next step back´like a full swing backwards before sliding up close again.
no subject
Optimus allowed himself a moment to admire the effect the crystals had, before refocusing without any stumbles in the dancing. Thankfully, Optimus was as quick a study as Elita, and he matched her little surprise motions with a few of his own; stepping to the side to show her the next portion of the dance, or pinging an abbreviated instruction before raising their joined arms over her head to give her a simple spin.
no subject
It was also speaking to the parts of Elita that enjoyed observing, paying attention to details... and it was nice. This was simple and enjoyable, especially the thrum of their engines working, and she didn't even think about it as her hands tightened where they helm and she tossed Optimus an easy smile.
no subject
Mask still retracted from the drinks earlier, Optimus couldn't help but let his smile show.
no subject
She didn't quite want to give up the moment just yet, so why let it go?
no subject
He was sure Elita would catch on quickly.
no subject
This was simple and clear and she enjoyed his company, even when they weren't necessarily doing any talking.
no subject
"I expected nothing less, but I'm still impressed! I'd hate to face you on the field."
When the beat of the song increased, he slipped in a few extra moves to keep her on her toes, grinning in easy challenge.
no subject
"On the field, I could have you on your back in a klik." An astrosecond later Elita realised what she'd said, but kept anything from showing on her faceplates. Ah, hopefully that hadn't been going too far.
She hadn't yet lost the easy, simple presence the dancing had allowed, and hopefully it wouldn't be lost yet.
no subject
"I don't doubt it."
He grinned, wry and teasing and he didn't break the rhythm of their dance for a moment.
"Though now you've got me too scared to request a proper spar sometime."
no subject
"Oh, I doubt that. And even so, one must face one's fears, Optimus," she said with a curl at the corner of her lips and briefly pulled her arms outward, pulling his along with hers as she stepped in, her chestplates ending up against the underside of his for a brief moment before the rhythm of the dance had her stepping away.
no subject
If the ending twirl had her pressed briefly close...well. He kept his hands in the proper positions. But he did take the opportunity to breath out his question.
"So. Would you care for a friendly spar sometime?"
no subject
She smiled over her shoulder as he asked, feeling a pleased little thrill at it that followed the rhythm of the dance.
"I certainly would care for that, yes." Like showing off her rocket launcher, just a little bit more... closer. She was simply pleased at the chance to spend some time.
no subject
"I look forward to it," he rumbled, pleased. The song ended, and Optimus released Elita a few pointed seconds after with a gracious bow.
no subject
"Me as well. Thank you for the dance, Optimus." Briefly, Elita reached out to grab one of Optimus' hands and squeezed the fingers before she let go and wandered off.
