THE SHOW MUST GO ON [open]
WHO: Soundwave & OPEN
WHERE: Medbay
WHEN Some hours after Barricade & Driller find him/repair him.
WHAT: Eventually, Soundwave wakes up from repairs in a very unfortunate location for him. Visitations, anyone?
WARNINGS: Trauma, mention of robotgore/robotdeath.
Dreaming is a difficult thing for him.
Usually, Soundwave is in the company of someone, and adopts their memories, their dreams into his own. It's sort of nice, because he feels as though in that way he can improve his techniques as the Decepticon Army's Morale Officer. He knows how to help his fellow soldiers, help his friends keep upbeat. Not just with sing-a-longs with Dead End or Bombshell's therapy sessions, but he himself needs to help the others find a will to carry on.
Here in the medbay, when he's resting, he gets flashes. Some dreams his own, some not. A mix of what he's taken, and what he trembles in the wake of.
There's a sharp smile, a cheerful giggle, and a laser scalpel digging into his face as it's removed, torn from his head You just look so much more interesting this way! and how his mind burns when he knows the truth that he failed one of his adopted kids he's dead he should have rescued him red eyes burning at him This doesn't concern you, Decepticon and he hears Rodimus screaming and he's too late and the black sucks him down and he's never been able to escape it and in his arms it's cold metal just so cold and
he remembers
something new to all of it
this isn't what I want stop stop stop stop and the tired sigh of it's not as if you will remember this, Soundwave, your struggling is getting tiresome and stop stop stop don't open that there's just no choice.
The dust kicks up under his feet, the expansive desert, and Soundwave stares in confusion. Twin stones twisting around each other, a fierce glow, and it screams in his head.
MAKE US WHOLE
Soundwave jerks awake from recharge, his intakes gasping to vent out hot, anxious air, trying to cool himself off. Looking around in a panic, he almost doesn't remember being here.
The medbay.
Frag, he hates being in medbays.
"Ugh, so bogus," he groans to himself, rubbing his helm. Glad he has hands to use again.
It's rare to dream something for himself. Not all of it his, but enough of it was, and that bothers him. Soundwave shudders to himself, shaking his head. No, no. He's okay, he just needs to roll it off his shoulders. He can deal with it.
It's okay. It's okay.
Soundwave folds his arms over his midsection, hugging himself.
Right. He'll be okay.

"H-hey, us Cybertronians... we recover way better than organic dudes do to this sort of thing. Don't you worry..."
He lets out a shuddering bout of air from his vents.
"Please don't worry, Kay. I'm sorry."
no subject
"You promised!!"
As a frustrated girl, she does the first thing she can think of--smacking him across the face. Of course, it hurts more than probably hurts him, and she has to shake that hand afterward. Still, it felt good to relieve that.
"You really weren't okay when you called, were you?"
no subject
"No. N-not really. I'm... I'm sorry, Kay. I just..."
It's okay that she's mad. He can take that. But the idea of upsetting her bothers him so much.
"I didn't want you to worry. I'm sorry I lied."
no subject
"A-At least 'Cade got you...right? He brought you here?"
She'd have to thank him later.
"You're dumb."
From the tone of her voice, you can tell she doesn't really mean it and is just saying the first words she thinks of.
no subject
"Yeah, totally. 'Cade... he's takin' care of me. No worries."
The last comment earns a tired laugh. "I know it."
no subject
"What happened, Soundwave? Why would they do this to you?"
Yeah, she's figured someONE did this. And she wants to know who.
no subject
"I... I ain't gonna give you the deets. I dunno why; some people are just... wicked. Not in the good way. Just real twisted. Prism's just a bad, bogus dude." A thumb rubs her back lightly.
no subject
"I hate them."
She didn't even know this guy and she was throwing vivid terms at them.
"They remind me of someone back home, and I hate them."
She leans against the thumb rubbing her, stroking the large palm that held her up in return.
no subject
It's upsetting to him that Kay knows someone like that.
"Sucks, that you got reminded of that. Sorry, Rockstar. You shouldn't hafta deal with that."
no subject
She clings onto that headband tightly as she looks into that yellow visor of his.
"I can't rock without you there!"
no subject
Soundwave doesn't struggle or push her aside. No, he'll leave the headband in her grip, for as long as it gives her comfort.
"Heh. I wouldn't get far without my friends. An' I gotta teach you th' drums, too. Right?"
no subject
"You do. Or the Cymbals. Or both."
There's a slight giggle.
"Sorry I hit you."
no subject
Her touch is pleasant and comforting. Frankly, even just having her company is good enough, but Kay's radiant attitude is a pleasant addition as well.
"Aw c'mon, Rockstar; I totally deserved it anyway."
no subject
It's almost as if the previous situation had dissipated away, because she's all smiles and leaning against the robot's face, giving a slight giggle.
"You did, but I'm still sorry. You're too nice to hit, Sounders."
no subject
Seeing the better expression on her face warms his ember, for certain. Soundwave, behind his mask, smiles broadly and leans his face in a bit more to nuzzle her.
"Heh, well. I appreciate that, but I think yer hand needs an apology, too."
no subject
I know, it's a mystery how that works.
"O-Oh! Don't worry about that! I...I've done worse!"
no subject
Soundwave tsks her gently. "If I take better cake of myself, you do the same for yourself. We good?"
no subject
Well when you run into burning buildings chasing THE TRUTH, the man has every right to, Kay.
"Sounds like a promise to me!"
She gets out her notebook, flipping it open to a page.
"I'll write it down for us, okay?"
no subject
But no. They'll both be more careful. They both promised.
"Hm?" Soundwave glances down at the notebook, then nods once. "Sure! Sounds like a done deal. Write it down, Kay."
no subject
She flips open to a page labeled 'Promises', with some lines already filled out, but she starts scratching in the most recent one on the next line labeled IX:
Soundwave and I will promise to take care of ourselves
There. Done deal.
"Perfect."
no subject
As much as he'd enjoy a quieter life, he knows he has responsibilities.
The page is eyed curiously by the Decepticon, his head tilting. An interesting way of handling it, but it seems utterly charming to Soundwave.
Yes, he'll approve of that.
"Looks good, Rockstar. It's official."
no subject
With his head slightly tilting, she leans back on it accordingly, smiling back up at him as she snaps it closed.
"Good. Now you better keep it or I'll smack you again."
