What's December Without Christmas Eve? [Tree Decorating: OPEN]

WHO: Anyone and Everyone!
WHERE: Around various parts of Haven
WHEN: From now until what counts as 'New Years' for Cybertron (New Years Day for us?)
WHAT: Tree Decorating!
WARNINGS: Infinite cute and maybe tree eating

Well, Kay and Elita had done it. It took awhile, and surprisingly, all in one night, but they'd been able to grab branches from the large crystal trees that the pink robot had grown, and placed them all around Haven. Where, specifically? Outside the temples! Really, surprised no one noticed it.  But to those who walk out of the them, they'll now notice a tree on either their right or left, empty, glittering, and with a note.

What could this mean? What's this? There's trees everywhere! What's this? And depending on what your alignment is/where you live, you'll get a different tree.

(ooc: I'll be putting comments up for each quadrant's tree. Comment under whichever one you'd like to react to/decorate/chat with people under. It's a huge mingle thread! Also, don't forget to put your tag in the log!

hi garrus. what're u thinkin about?

[personal profile] songofmypeople 2012-12-25 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
Tarn glances over at the small organic. The armour does a good job of keeping it from looking completely disgusting, and he wonders if the alien is built into the suit, or if it can be removed completely. Scans indicate that the little thing is somewhat metallic in its makeup. That's almost cute.

"And why someone would spend the time."

Garrus has Tarn's full attention now, and his voice is nothing but amicable. "Have you read the attached note?"
heatsink: (there's that ruthless calculus again)

oh you know. silly little things blushuuu. what're u thinkin bout

[personal profile] heatsink 2012-12-25 07:05 am (UTC)(link)
Amicable. He could work with that. Even if that fabulous mask looked like the picture definition of ominous bad guy. There's a tentative flick of the mandibles as Garrus looks back to the trimmed crystal formation, still keeping watch on the large machine with the corner of his eye.

"Decorating the tree? Sounds like an old human celebration I saw back home on the Citadel. Minus any physical trees, since growing them wasted the station's water." A space station, in other words.

"I'd check the details on the extranet, but there's bad reception on this planet." Could these robots brain jokes? May as well try.

Torture and murder. Decepticon stuff. the usual. Idly wondering about u 2

[personal profile] songofmypeople 2012-12-25 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh Garrus, stop being so genre savvy. Maybe this mask is just used to intimidate shop vendors into giving him a larger discount. Don't judge his fashion man, maybe he got this on Tuchanka.

And 'bad guy'? Excuse you. He just prefers his eggs on the renegade side, okay?

"I can see how growing organic material would be a waste."

H-hey. Maybe that... maybe that was a joke too? At least he still sounds super jolly! So! That's gotta count for something, right?
heatsink: (Oh.. Hm.)

jus thinkin bout justice. u know how it is.

[personal profile] heatsink 2012-12-25 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)
No no. He's pretty familiar with this. There's renegade, then there's clearly ominous (and possibly Reaper-aligned) glowy-eyed creepy bad. This was edging more towards the latter. Unless Tarn's hiding all his renegade scarring under there.

There's a raise of a brow plate at the pun(at least he thinks its a pun), though it doesn't quite get a smile. Well. It was something. Better continue the story.

"People tended to just make an interactive display, instead. You could adjust it's appearance through your omni tool.", he looks away from the tree to fix on the Decepticon,"It was much simpler, in any case."
songofmypeople: mine (So)

o man. justice is my fave. specially the bit with the killing

[personal profile] songofmypeople 2012-12-26 08:36 am (UTC)(link)
It's either renegade scaring or robot leprosy, but so far no one's 100% sure.

Meanwhile, what's an omnitool?

"So not only is it an outdated practice, it's the inconvenient version. I don't know whether to be surprised or disappointed in the humans." Again it's hard to tell how disdainful he's being since his voice carries only a sort of rueful, 'boys will be boys, lesser organisms will be lesser organisms, can't live with 'em, can't live without 'em, what're you gonna do' tone.

): what about the bit about helping the innocent and society in general

[personal profile] heatsink 2012-12-26 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
"Outdated practices are something everyone has to deal with. Your people don't even have one obscure ritual sitting around?", Even the geth had their gods and rituals, and they were a race of computer programs.

Also, he's genuinely curious. He knows practically nothing about Cybertronians. And they seemed closer to organic races than their own local synthetic species, actually. At least in mind and society.

You can pick one word from the bag, but not all of them. Choose wisely!

[personal profile] songofmypeople 2012-12-27 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
"That would depend on how you define 'obscure,' wouldn't it?"

Have you heard the one about the innermost energon?
heatsink: (well you see commander)

>8c thats a terrible rule

[personal profile] heatsink 2012-12-27 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
"So there is something.", pushing his luck with a giant tank robot? Eh. Maybe.

Surely he isn't against telling a simple story. Especially with such a jolly tone of voice.

~~He's a terrible person~~

"Do you know what a spark is?"

"Your people's... cores, right? Source of personality.", some sort of advanced kind of computer core, right?

Because Garrus is too much of a cynic to believe in souls.

"Hmm. Something like that." He's in no hurry to correct or deny those assumptions.

"Innermost energon surrounds a spark and there's a tradition where, to show certain sentiments, one might give a quart or so of it to a comrade. That ritual came about before my time and cultural symbolism has seen it endure the ages. It's really very quaint."

So pretty much to show they care (or maybe that someone is the next person on their shit list) these robots give each other jars of blood.

He's more intrigued by the fact that robots can love. That's actually.. rather unexpectedly sweet, in a weird robot blood jar kind of way.

"I've... got an old story.", he's picked up on your whole 4-million year Civil War thing by now, so he thought he'd toss up a little story of his own to follow up.

"When our species first started colonizing other star systems, some of the distant colonies tended to get a bit isolated and wary of others. They used facepaint to differentiate the different colonies.", he gestured to the markings on his own face.

"It eventually broke out into a war between colonies. The Hierarchy on our home world Palaven didn't really intervene until the smaller factions all wore themselves out. Then, all the colonies were forced to unify, rather quickly. But that didn't stop people from painting on the markings of their home colony to this day."

It's cute that you thought 'love' first, instead of, say, 'Hi, pal, here is a jar of blood just to let you know that sometime, when you least expect it, I'm going to remove your head via cannon blast. Wait for me~?'

"Hmm," Tarn says, more preoccupied with the thought of what it might feel like to crush Garrus's tiny skull between his fingers, than with the story of why turians wear makeup.

"Are there more of you here? Or are you all alone, alien?"

Don't hate on their stylish make-up Tarn. It's fabulous and you know it.

Garrus can tell when someone's only half paying attention, and gives him a raised brow at the question. It seems innocent enough, so he'll answer it.

"Our population's a bit lower than yours."

Obvious enough considering this was the synthetics' home planet. But he didn't want to specify a number.

"No chances of another war breaking out then, I take it?" The question is asked good-naturedly.
