Failure
WHO: Rung, Open~
WHERE: He's wandered into Alpha Trion's Quadrant.
WHEN Sometime after the bad session with Fortress Maximus.
WHAT: He failed at the only thing he's ever truly been good at and he feels miserable because of it.
WARNINGS: N/A
Rung felt like a failure; an absolute failure in what he was supposed to be good at. He was supposed to help Fortress Maximus, do what he could because that's what his function was, and yet he'd completely fallen apart when the other had gotten upset and instead of helping he'd probably caused more harm than good. He'd lost his composure, let his emotions come through too much, and hadn't been able to keep his own haunting memories at bay.
It was everything that therapist wasn't supposed to do.
A small voice in the back of his head reminded him, as he walked along lost in thought, that the incident was still fairly fresh--recent enough that at times he could still feel the sting of the blow to his head--but a larger voice, the more stubborn one that Rung was letting have control at the moment, argued that it didn't matter. He should have been able to put it all aside and not let it get to him. He should have been able to calm Fortress Maximus down and helped him instead of freaking out.
He'd thought about retracting his offer for the time being, since he didn't feel like he was a good enough doctor to help anyone now, but he'd already made steps with several and he couldn't--wouldn't back out on them now.
But he'd never really felt more worthless in all of his existence really.
Rung had been so lost in thought that he didn't really realize where he'd ended up until he finally caught sight of a lake, the therapist's optics flickering as he slowed to a stop, staring out over the waters before finally looking around. It was very serene in a way, peaceful in a way that reminded him of what Blurr had said.
This must be Alpha Trion's quadrant.
Hesitating for a moment more, Rung's vents cycled softly as he pushed forward, heading down closer to the lake to just sit and..stew some more. Berate himself some more? Something like that...

Hesitating for a moment more, Rung's vents cycled softly as he pushed forward, heading down closer to the lake to just sit and..stew some more. Berate himself some more? Something like that...
But that's what makes Prime so special. C:
"...You weren't interrupting, sir, not at all," Rung replied finally, offering a faint smile as he settled back down on the ground, relaxing a bit into the same position he'd been in before with a foot in the water. "I was just thinking. This seems to be the place for that sort of thing."
;3;
"This does seem like the perfect place for contemplation. Though it is still somewhat hard to believe that this specific area is actually on Cybertron rather than elsewhere."
He glanced out toward the lake and surrounding area, worries momentarily forgotten. It was nice, and he could see why the mech might have sought out the area to be alone with his thoughts. ...He may have avoided Rung in the past, but that was simply because he was never particularly fond of sessions himself, no matter how practical in the unending war situation they were.
It was a very minor abuse of his rank to avoid them when possible, but one that was often unneeded anyway, given how often an attack or hurried meeting forced them to reschedule.
But this was no session, and he had no reason to avoid the mech unless Rung wanted him to leave.
"How have you been doing? I know being here is something of a sharp adjustment."
...Though if he wasn't careful, he'd end up turning this into a session himself. Whoops?
no subject
Like with Drift, the silence that came with being in Optimus' presence was a comfortable one--though it wasn't surprising giving who the mech was. Rung found himself zoning out a bit again as he too looked out over the lake, thinking about everything that had been said to him today, all the things he'd talked with others with..
It was strange to know that he had people looking out for him now. Not that he didn't before, just never in such masses really. Blurr. Soundwave. Starscream. Drift. Just a few names in the many that had gone out of their way to cheer him up today.
His optics flickered as the prime spoke and his gaze snapped back to the taller mech, a faint smile appearing before he chuckled.
"Yes it has been a bit of an interesting change in scenery and pace, but it..hasn't been horrible, not at all." Minus the confrontation with Fort Max. "It's rather nice here, in a way."
-wow time got away from me again :c
"Agreed. This place has it's own problems - and I am sure there are others we have yet to discover - but there are far worse places to be trapped."
He chuckled dryly. "I've been to a few of them. At least this place has some of the more pleasant of Earth-like ecosystems to enjoy. The frozen areas on that world were rather uncomfortable."
For him, he's never been trapped on Earth, so it didn't count as an entirely unpleasant memory. Yet. Other places, like Axiom Nexus, however...
Different story entirely.
No worries~ I've been slow responding to stuff too BD;;
"Frozen areas?" he repeated, optics flickering as he looked back up at Optimus. "That..doesn't sound all that pleasant at all. But I agree, it is nice that there are the Earth-like elements, especially since there seems to be so many organics here amongst us."
He isn't really sure what they would have done had there not been those organic touches to Cybertron. Honestly, the therapist isn't sure they would have lasted long but that's a rather dark thought and he pushes that to the back of his mind.
Sounds familiar... :x
"Thankfully we seem to be spared that so far. But I agree. We are terribly fortunate that this Cybertron is more hospitable, and can handle the organics as well. I hate to think about what might have happened without the various bits of debris from their worlds finding it's way here to provide them with fuel. I doubt we could have replicated it."
And that is a depressing thought. He shakes his head, managing a smile.
"Unlikely as it is, I am glad that is not something we had to face."
