Chasing a lie I thought I believed in

WHO: Kay and whoever stumbles upon her.

WHERE: Junkpile

WHEN: Today

WHAT: Kay's exploring the Junkpile for some items. If you cross her path and talk to her she'll most likely find an item for you.

WARNINGS: She's a little grumpy after being embarrassed in front of Alpha Trion. Feel like cheering her up?

There's nothing worse than being made a fool in front of your idol. And Kay had learned that all too quickly. Cliffjumper had not only pranked her into thinking he'd been turned into a guitar (a guitar that was now gone, whether by Trion's correction or her own disposal), but some things, like your own competence shouldn't be called out on. At least that's how Kay saw it. But bottling yourself up in your room was getting old, so she took it outside, trekking all the way to the Junkpile to relieve some teenage-girl steam. Although this didn't keep her from her promise to Kagerou either. She sent a text to the robot saying she'd meet him there if he was well enough to go.

From pile to pile she leapt, searching for anything and everything. There wasn't much to find that didn't get scavenged earlier, but it provided a great distraction from everything. She sat crouched, examining what looked to be a whisk before tossing it to the side, scanning this pile once more.

"Stupid."

Whether she was talking about the whisk or something else was to be debated. She flipped her hair out of the way, giving a big sigh before hoisting herself to her feet.

Maybe the next pile would have something.

"P-Put that down!!"

She really, really wants that sofa. And playing it cool is cutting it a little too close.

"All that's in there is wood and stuffing!"

He does stop tossing it, but he doesn't put it down. Instead, he looks over at her, smiling.

"What're going to do about it?"

He puts his free hand on his hip, pretending to be all sassy. Go on, show him what you got, Kay.

Oh bring it. At the very second he finishes saying that, she runs towards him, pulling her gloves up onto her hands vigorously. When she reaches him, she searches out for seams in that armor, attempting to climb it.

"Just you wait."

She's...rather speedy for a human, gotta give her credit.

All that makes him do is raise his eyebrow and chuckle. No, keep going. He'll just stand here and watch, holding the couch.

"HahaWhat do you think you're doing?"

He's pretty much humoring her, wanting to see how high she can go. Just as long as she doesn't pull anything, he's good.

Oh she will. There's a few slips, and she's hanging from her hands during them, but like a tough little bugger she pulls herself up and works her way to his waistline. There's no way she's giving this up without a fight, even if it is mostly one sided.

"Getting that sofa!"

She readies herself, leaping up and grabbing onto the 'headlights' that are just above his midsection.

"Well in that case I'll just make myself comfortable."

Does she mind if he sits down? Wait, he doesn't really care, he just does. Not that he isn't careful in making sure she doesn't get stuck in between any of that plating while he takes a seat.

He might be messing with her, but no matter how annoying Cliff thinks Kay is, human safety is a big deal. He wouldn't be able to live with himself if he ever actually hurt her.

She can work for that sofa, though, as he holds it outstretched as far as he can. He doesn't feel sorry about that in the least.

Sitting down does nothing for her, at least for her determination. She keeps that pout as she swings herself up, panting a moment to gain her breath. Okay.

Okay.

She was halfway there. All she had to do was get to that arm...

"Go for it! I could do this all day!

"I believe you, the panting confirms it."

He leans back a bit and continues to watch her climb. It amuses him so.

"But you know what? I bet I can do this all day longer than you can."

Those words just egg her on more, as she bends her knees a few times before trying to run up his chest armor. It was a long sheet of metal, so she had to reach and grab the top so she didn't become a Kay pancake. Thankfully, her hand caught it, and quickly scrambled her legs to scale up to his collarbone area.

"HA! Showed you!"

She still had an arm to climb up, but damn was she proud of this.

Good for you, but don't think the hard part's over. Did Kay really believe Cliffjumper would make this easier the closer she got? Nope. His arm starts to sway up and down as he holds onto that sofa. Almost like he's using it like a out of style weight.

...Not that it would be a very useful weight, holding it is a breeze for him.

And he doesn't have muscles to grow anyway.

"Keep going, you're not done yet."

Of course he'd make it harder. Cliffs always did. Not that it stops her, mind you. She rolls up her figurative sleeves and takes a few steps back, getting a running start before leaping after that arm, attempting to latch onto it.

Unfortunately, she slides along the thin part of the metal, giving a slight shriek before her fingers catch inside the seams of that armor.

Too close.

Woah, hey.

"Easy there, kiddo. Don't make me end the game early."

He's just going to...pick Kay up and place her on his arm himself. There. No more worries. But if she has another slip up, then he's calling this thing off. He may have given her too much credit and the last thing he wants to do is risk it and have her accidentally hurt herself.

...Where did this caring come from?

She really does appreciate it, but that relief turns into a slight pout.

"So when you worry about me it's okay, but when I worry it's dumb."

Her voice sounds really disgruntled at that, as she continues to climb that arm.

Oh, is that the game we're playing now?

"No. Try when I worry, it's because you're going to get yourself killed. I can take care of myself."

Minus...the whole dead thing, but he's still not sure if that counts since it never actually happened to him. Anyway, just for that attitude, he moves the sofa to the other hand.

She stamps her foot on that arm, angry that he switched it. Cliffjumper you just make her so angry-

"Don't you get it, you brick head? I was just as worried about you when you lied about the guitar thing!! A lot of crazy things happened during that time...People turned mean...some became really small...anything could have happened!"

"That's Mr. Brick Head to you."

He doesn't even comment on what she said, mostly because she has a point and he doesn't want to put the effort into arguing with her. Just get your stupid sofa, you strange hopping human thing.

She WILL. Sliding down that arm back to the shoulders, she starts climbing over his head, her hands gripping onto one of those horns as she tries to swing herself up.

"Fine. That's your new name."

"You call me that and I'm going to flick you."

Didn't you learn anything about the dangers of nicknames, Kay? You'd think she'd just call him Cliffjumper by now. Or does she just want terrible things to happen to him? Thanks, Kay. Glad to know where he stands with you now.

"You said it, not me."

She gets on top of his head, trying to scramble to the other side, although it's extremely clumsy and she slides a bit.

"Whoa!!"

With a roll of his eyes, Cliff reaches over for her and repositions her. It's a good thing she keeps climbing where he can actually reach or else this could get ugly pretty fast. In fact, he better make a note of that.

"Hey, watch where you're falling. Get too far and I won't be able to catch you."

While her face showed obvious signs of grump still, she seemed relieved that he put her on that opposite shoulder. The head was not a good place to climb. Better take note.

"You...you're really worried?"

"Now what kind of question is that? Of course I am. I don't know about you, but I'm not into the whole people getting hurt thing."

He pauses, then smirks a little.

"Well, except maybe for Decepticons. It's a good day when they get hurt."

"I..."

Okay, that was really sweet. It's not like he HAD to care about her.

"Thank you. That...that means a lot."

She tilts her head.

"But...some of the Decepticons are nice!"

Don't think too much into it, Kay. You're the equivalent of...like, how someone cares about a kitten to him. But hey, it's better than when he first met you! So...you're climbing the ladder, so to speak.

"Yeeah, I'm still not sure how much I buy into that.

"Well, Soundwave's a nice Decepticon. You should meet him..."

She forgets about that sofa for a second, sitting down on that shoulder.
