Chasing a lie I thought I believed in

WHO: Kay and whoever stumbles upon her.

WHERE: Junkpile

WHEN: Today

WHAT: Kay's exploring the Junkpile for some items. If you cross her path and talk to her she'll most likely find an item for you.

WARNINGS: She's a little grumpy after being embarrassed in front of Alpha Trion. Feel like cheering her up?

There's nothing worse than being made a fool in front of your idol. And Kay had learned that all too quickly. Cliffjumper had not only pranked her into thinking he'd been turned into a guitar (a guitar that was now gone, whether by Trion's correction or her own disposal), but some things, like your own competence shouldn't be called out on. At least that's how Kay saw it. But bottling yourself up in your room was getting old, so she took it outside, trekking all the way to the Junkpile to relieve some teenage-girl steam. Although this didn't keep her from her promise to Kagerou either. She sent a text to the robot saying she'd meet him there if he was well enough to go.

From pile to pile she leapt, searching for anything and everything. There wasn't much to find that didn't get scavenged earlier, but it provided a great distraction from everything. She sat crouched, examining what looked to be a whisk before tossing it to the side, scanning this pile once more.

"Stupid."

Whether she was talking about the whisk or something else was to be debated. She flipped her hair out of the way, giving a big sigh before hoisting herself to her feet.

Maybe the next pile would have something.

With a roll of his eyes, Cliff reaches over for her and repositions her. It's a good thing she keeps climbing where he can actually reach or else this could get ugly pretty fast. In fact, he better make a note of that.

"Hey, watch where you're falling. Get too far and I won't be able to catch you."

While her face showed obvious signs of grump still, she seemed relieved that he put her on that opposite shoulder. The head was not a good place to climb. Better take note.

"You...you're really worried?"

"Now what kind of question is that? Of course I am. I don't know about you, but I'm not into the whole people getting hurt thing."

He pauses, then smirks a little.

"Well, except maybe for Decepticons. It's a good day when they get hurt."

"I..."

Okay, that was really sweet. It's not like he HAD to care about her.

"Thank you. That...that means a lot."

She tilts her head.

"But...some of the Decepticons are nice!"

Don't think too much into it, Kay. You're the equivalent of...like, how someone cares about a kitten to him. But hey, it's better than when he first met you! So...you're climbing the ladder, so to speak.

"Yeeah, I'm still not sure how much I buy into that.

"Well, Soundwave's a nice Decepticon. You should meet him..."

She forgets about that sofa for a second, sitting down on that shoulder.

Cliff hasn't forgotten about the sofa, but he has decided he doesn't want to hold onto it anymore and sets it down. Whatever, that game was getting boring.

"Yeah, I met that guy. Said he wanted to get some high grade with me. Still not sure what to think about him. I mean, I got a Soundwave 'back home'. Nasty piece of work that guy. Could say Soundwaves left a bad impression on me. I might not punch his face in right away, but there's no way I'm putting my guard down."

At least he didn't shoot it...She leans against the side of Cliff's head, listening to the bot tell his story. It...didn't seem real. That didn't sound anything like the Soundwave she knew.

"The Soundwave from your world is bad... That's...weird..."

He chuckles.

"Funny, because the idea of 'nice Soundwave' is weird to me. Guess I'm just too used to 'mine'. And woo boy, is that guy freaky looking. Doesn't say a word, either, which really isn't helping his case. Complete opposite of the bot walking around here. Almost wonder what it'd be like if they met up with each other."

By the way, he likes to talk.

She doesn't mind it, really. Which is surprising, because she was SUPPOSED to be angry at him. But something about him just made her want to listen to what he had to say, no matter how chatty he was.

"He's freaky looking, huh. What, you mean like he's got a weird face, creeping up on you in alleyways and stuff? Cause that IS the opposite of Soundwave that's here..."

Another chuckle.

"Wouldn't know! Haven't seen the guy's face, he's got some sort of screen over it."

He waves his hand in front of his face to emphasize his point.

"He looks like the kind of thing that'd hang around an alley, though. Hate to run into that. ...Hate to run into that anywhere, really. It's the freakishly long arms that do it for me. Just something about them that makes my platting itch."

"Oh wow...he sounds like a really creepy TV..."

She didn't like the sound of this...Soundwave. And it shows in her awkward shuffles on his shoulder.

"Did you ever fight him?"

"Strangely, no. I know he can fight, but I've never seen it. He's more like the guy taking orders, Megatron's little pet. And if he isn't with Megatron, he's babysitting his pal, Starscream. None of those bots are any good, especially Megatron. You hear someone call themselves that, you best book it, short stuff."

If it isn't obvious yet, Cliffjumper has yet to meet the nice Megatron.

"Everything's so weird in other worlds...

I met a Starscream, a Soundwave, AND a Megatron. They all seem to be pretty okay...!"

Well, Starscream technically was snarkier than the other two, but he wasn't killing her. That was...something?

Really? A pretty okay Megatron? Kay's right, other worlds are weird.

"Okay, well this is hurting my head. Let's talk about something else."

He's really making himself comfortable at this point, totally okay with having someone to talk to. Or 'talk at' as some people like to put it. Whatever, he'll take who he can get.

A new topic...okay, that could work. Her legs swing idly, rubbing her arm slightly as she tries not to directly meet Cliffjumper's giant stare. Something's obviously on her mind.

"I'm sorry...about the cow thing. I was...freaking out at the time."

The idea of Guitarjumper really worried her.

"That's... not exactly what I wanted to talk about, either."

Really, he'd love to forget the whole thing ever happened.

"Don't worry about it, okay?"

...

That smile of his made it hard to stay mad at him, even if he did kind of call her out in front of a FirstForged. Her own face starts to crack, but she hides it under her scarf as best she can. No way she's letting him see that.

"M-Maybe you better pick the topic then."

What's hilarious is he's not really sure what Kay's doing. He just assumes it's some kind of weird human thing.

"Oh, uh, well... I don't know. Kind of funny since usually I always know what to talk about. So... what do humans do, anyway?"

"What do you mean 'what do we do'? We do the same things you guys do, except with less metal and guns."

Good explaining, Kay. Maybe you should elaborate on that slightly.

"Well...I mean, we like things, we don't like things. We listen to music, we write stories, we watch things for entertainment..."

Yeah...that, uh. That didn't help at all. But you know what? He'll bounce off the 'same things you guys do' and see where that goes.

"You miss anybody?"

Oh, now we're getting into that territory. Her eyes drift off, not quite as spirited as they had been a moment before.

"Mmhmm. Someone really important."

"And that would be?"

Come now, Kay, tell your good pal Cliffjumper all about it. Even if he probably won't understand. He just really likes conversation, okay?

"My dad. He's been gone for about...ten years."

That may not seem like a long time to Cliffjumper, but she doesn't know that.

Yeah... that's seriously not that long at all. Don't even get him started on how little he realizes about dads and how important they are.

"Oh yeah? So where did he go?"
