too busy working out to
WHO: Kagerou & OPEN
WHERE: ALL AROUND HAVEN || Police Station || Trion's Temple
WHEN: From TFP!Ratchet's attack -- to now!
WHAT: After his outburst on the Network, Kagerou is rather desperate to prove himself as a capable police officer, hunting nonstop for a fugitive he probably has no hope of locating. It goes about as well as you can expect.
WARNINGS: None now.
Note: If you could put the date and location in the subject, that would be awesome!
[He's probably become a familiar sight around the Haven skies of late. A shadow ghosting across the stars, or lurking in the darker places behind buildings. Scans are running constantly. No part of the ground goes unseen. Guilt is driving him, mostly. He wants to make things right. Wants to make amends.]
[Make it up to the bot he thinks he's failed.]
[But there are some areas he won't visit. Some places etched in his mind as too terrible to return to. He won't be seen near Liege's temple. Nor Megatronus'. Everywhere else, he is a near-constant presence. Look up. You might see him!]
~
[Even so, he can't be everywhere. Every so often, he'll return to the police station. Make reports, they said. Check in, they said. And so, in between sweeps of the Haven, he'll stop at the station. Even if no one is inside, or present, he'll offer up his report via datapad, leaving it on a desk.]
[Nothing, it usually says. Nothing unusual reported.]
[And he treats every report of that nature, like a failure. His shoulders slump a little more, and he leaves the station looking more dejected, though his expression remains as closed and neutral as possible. If someone is present in the station, he'll stop to speak with them, of course. But otherwise, he's in and out in a matter of minutes.]
~
[Rarer still, he returns to Trion's temple. To the room he and Kay and now... now another... are sharing. It's usually late when he does drag himself back. He's always low on fuel, low on rest. He'll all but stumble through the temple, nodding to passersby, or whoever happens to be on his way.]
[He will return to the room for only as long as it takes for him to refuel. To make certain Kay is all right. To make certain nothing terrible has happened.]
[And then he's gone again. Weary, frustrated, and wracked with too much guilt. But pushing onward all the same.]

"She won't be harmed." You can't know that, Kagerou.
Understanding and remembering aren't enough.
He sighs. He's said his piece. He's afraid any more will only be counterproductive. Kagerou's not going to listen to him as it is, no point pushing.
He just nods, then shifts back around his desk to settle in the chair, catching his computer before it could to sleep on him and possibly lose the progress he'd made on his own report. "Speaking of Kay, what did she say? About having someone else help look after her." He's not assuming Kagerou ever did talk to her, but he can hope.

He'd like to go back to simple conversations without feeling the need to be defensive. That had been nice... he'd felt accepted...
Thinking it's time to return to work, he turns, taking a few silent steps before the question comes. He halts, his back turned. And despite himself, his wings flick.
"I'm speaking with her tonight," he says, truthfully. She'd been busy running around to see to others, as he had. He's proud of her, for that. One more thing he needs to tell her.
Whoa, hello BOLDTYPE where'd you come from? >,o Sorry about that...
Deckard watches as Kagerou pauses without turning, and he catches the flick of the wings.
He didn't overstep something, did he?
No . . . no, he can't worry about that. This is too important. And it's for both their sakes. All he wants is to make sure they're both safe. The ninja-bot does understand that, right?
"Thank you. I look forward to hearing how that goes.
...take care, Kagerou."
no subject
And it's stuck.
"Right."
He glances back for a moment, waiting to see if anything else is coming.
"As you wish."
no subject
Deckard shakes his head, a small grin on his face. "Not for my sake. You're part of the team. I just want to see the best for you, that's all."
no subject
"I... appreciate the sentiment."
He manages to keep it from sounding like a question, but only barely.
no subject
Deckard thinks he hears the question in that even if Kagerou doesn't quite voice it as one. There's also the ninja-bot's body language. He stands from his desk again, approaching –slowly, giving Kagerou more than enough time to register him doing so and react if he's going to –and lays a hand softly on his shoulder, trying to shift to catch the other's optics.
"You're wondering why?" He wasn't sure, but that seemed the most logical guess. Even if he couldn't see how or why the other would even wonder that.
no subject
"Why what?"
no subject
Deckard offers a small grin, meeting that one rich green optic. "You said that you appreciate the sentiment. It seemed you were wondering why, though. Will you tell me what you were thinking?" His grin widened a little as he tries to tease lightly, "I never did learn mind-reading, so…"
no subject
"That I don't know how to handle this," he says, at length. "I'm not good with these conversations."
no subject
That draws a mild frown, confused and a little concerned.
"'These conversations'? I'm afraid I don't follow."
no subject
An awkward shrug. He looked down at his hands, as if they could answer the questions better than he could.
Erf, thought I'd replied to this...
