too busy working out to

WHO: Kagerou & OPEN
WHERE: ALL AROUND HAVEN || Police Station || Trion's Temple
WHEN: From TFP!Ratchet's attack -- to now!
WHAT: After his outburst on the Network, Kagerou is rather desperate to prove himself as a capable police officer, hunting nonstop for a fugitive he probably has no hope of locating. It goes about as well as you can expect.
WARNINGS: None now.
Note: If you could put the date and location in the subject, that would be awesome!

[He's probably become a familiar sight around the Haven skies of late. A shadow ghosting across the stars, or lurking in the darker places behind buildings. Scans are running constantly. No part of the ground goes unseen. Guilt is driving him, mostly. He wants to make things right. Wants to make amends.]

[Make it up to the bot he thinks he's failed.]

[But there are some areas he won't visit. Some places etched in his mind as too terrible to return to. He won't be seen near Liege's temple. Nor Megatronus'. Everywhere else, he is a near-constant presence. Look up. You might see him!]

~

[Even so, he can't be everywhere. Every so often, he'll return to the police station. Make reports, they said. Check in, they said. And so, in between sweeps of the Haven, he'll stop at the station. Even if no one is inside, or present, he'll offer up his report via datapad, leaving it on a desk.]

[Nothing, it usually says. Nothing unusual reported.]

[And he treats every report of that nature, like a failure. His shoulders slump a little more, and he leaves the station looking more dejected, though his expression remains as closed and neutral as possible. If someone is present in the station, he'll stop to speak with them, of course. But otherwise, he's in and out in a matter of minutes.]

~

[Rarer still, he returns to Trion's temple. To the room he and Kay and now... now another... are sharing. It's usually late when he does drag himself back. He's always low on fuel, low on rest. He'll all but stumble through the temple, nodding to passersby, or whoever happens to be on his way.]

[He will return to the room for only as long as it takes for him to refuel. To make certain Kay is all right. To make certain nothing terrible has happened.]

[And then he's gone again. Weary, frustrated, and wracked with too much guilt. But pushing onward all the same.]

The Seeker's wings twitch at the first comment, riding high on his back.  But he studies the other mech, thinking he recognizes what the problem is.  He's seen it enough times in some of the lower-ranking Decepticons, especially those who were tricked or bullied into the faction against their will.

  He's been abused…is that it?

He certainly knew what that felt like and what that did to a mech.  Unless he trusted the one who got close enough to even try, he himself was apt to answer an unexpected or unwanted touch with his rifles as often as not.  Huh.  He'd keep that in mind.

So it's your job you're trying to prove?  Hmn.  Something else to note and file for later, perhaps.

The question catches him a bit off-guard, but he supposes it shouldn't surprise him, even after so long.  Being what he is and all.

"…I know I'm not a decent mech, but still, it's the decent thing to do, right?  We're both police officers, both have a job to do.  I assume it's that twisted Ratchet that you're hunting?  I have been too.  Two can cover more ground than one, and we'd avoid needless overlap if we coordinate."

…frag, when he start sounding like a slagging Autobot?  Talking about coordination and teamwork and the like…

"Have to?"  He's not challenging it.  Just a little surprised.  "Fragger get someone you care about?"

The medic hadn't attacked anyone he felt particularly protective of.  Yet.  It's one of the reasons he's been searching as hard as he has himself, to make sure he doesn't.  If that glitched piece of slag ever gets to any of "his" –like McCrane, Blurr, Ravage, any of the road crew, or Primus-forbid one of his more fragile organic friends like Rose –he knows he'd go ballistic in his mech-hunt.

He nods.  "Not saying not to.  Just that if you let someone fly at your flank, you're less likely to get blindsided.  Tell me where your patterns are, and make sure other quadrants are covered.  That way no one of us is trying to cover everything."

Thundercracker just stared back for a moment. He really wasn't getting anywhere with the kid, was he? Well, McCrane couldn't accuse him of not trying not that he thought the soft-spoken mech would accuse him of anything.

He shook his head. Whatever.

"Right. Well, I'm heading back out. Don't neglect to get some kind of recharge before too much longer. You look ready to slip into stasis any astro-second."

If not stopped, he'll turn and head back down the hall the way he came.
