Waiting For A Ride In the Dark

WHO: Garrod Ran & Prowl
WHERE: Nexus Prime's Neighborhood
WHEN: ...Now?!
WHAT: In a land of giants, getting around is going to be a pain. Thankfully! there's a lot of free rides around!
WARNINGS: N/A

If this was a dream, then he was sure taking his sweet time waking up! He'd already woken up once though, and nearly fell off of some ridiculously high ledge, only to be caught by some funky looking mobile suit. He still wasn't quite sure what this was all about, only partially listening to what explanations the Acolyte gave, not that it seemed that the Acolyte was paying much attention either as it sounded like it was going by some well-rehearsed script.

Fine. Whatever. So he was in some place called Cybertron because he fell into some rift or something. Right. Okay. Yeah. So somehow he got separated from the Freeden, which admittedly was cause for some concern, but hey, the obvious thing to do was to figure out how to get back to them. Since it seemed like the big mobile suit didn't have anything by way of answers for that part, Garrod figured he was on his own.

     Nothing new there, right?

Of course, once he stepped outside, it was hard to hold back that sinking feeling that maybe...just maybe it wouldn't be as easy as he thought it would be. The sky looked nothing like anything he'd ever seen before, the landscape looked completely different from that of a world trying to get back on its feet after a devastating war whose colony drops had left countries pocked with holes and craters. It was...different.

And huge to boot. It hadn't taken him long to realize that things were definitely not built to scale for humans. Was this some secret mobile suit facility? If that was the case, his Gundam would have been a handy thing to have. Garrod had the control unit, but a lot of good that was going to do him without the robotic armor itself.

He stared out at the vast expanse that lacked any sort of familiar features. In the distance he could make out some unbelievably tall structure that seemed to reach straight through the heavens itself. It was at that moment that he finally had to admit to himself: "...this...really isn't earth, is it?"

     ....crrrraaaaaap.

"-no, don't panic. There's a way out of this, there's gotta be. Um...um, what did that guy say back there... something about a...about a rift in the Lambda. That thing?" Eyes lifted towards the bright blue tear in the sky. If they fell through, and that...pillar-thing seemed to reach up towards it, then maybe... Maybe? There was only one way to find out, but that involved actually getting over there. Ugh, walking was going to suck, but at the moment, the boy saw no other options.

Near the foot of the temple was, lo and behold, a black and white emergency-light bearing vehicle! It was completely empty and everything. Who in this large-scaled land would drive a car that size anyway? It must have been left there for him.

In reality, Prowl was parked and in wait. If was nothing major. Small mischief he needed to address. But first, he was waiting for the perpetrator (most likely Skids) show his face so he could begin pursuit.

As it were, he probably wasn't expecting a human to approach him. Organic species were so rare on this Cybertron he didn't often encounter them in person. Well, aside from Cody, but he was an exception.

apologies for the delay

Unfortunately for him, the door is locked.

Quite locked, in fact.

Prowl is annoyed at being approached, but figures whoever this individual is will leave him alone if he just keeps quiet and doesn't give him any access.

So the car doesn't talk back. It just stays in place. Being obtuse and an inanimate object.

The entire window instantly seems to shatter as the handgun is fired - but the bullet gets caught in the window. Wow. Figures the one car on this entire planet was locked and had bulletproof glass. Prowl is just momentarily stunned that shooting him had been the next logical course of action for this guy.

Sorry Garrod, looks like this car may just have to be left alone - or, no. Wait. There's the sound of something clicking open. Could it be the door?

Just kidding. That's a transformation sequence. Both doors pop open, but then so does the rest of the pieces of the car in what appears to be some sort of shifting mess of metal parts. It was almost abstract in shape before the hood, trunk, doors, and cab frame all rearrange themselves to form a bipedal robot.

"I was certain humans had more common sense until just now!" Oh no he's grumpy.

There's a long pause as Prowl finds himself locking eyes with Garrod. It all immediately becomes clear why he attempted to shoot him when he gets a confused look back, and his anger is almost immediately defused.

Prowl covers his face with his hand in annoyance, resting the other on his hip. This.

This.

Okay. He's done this before. The hand lifts off his face and points at pilot.

"You didn't get the introduction."

"This some iteration of Cybertron. It's a home planet for beings like me.", he gestures to himself,"Cybertronians. Autonomous mechanical life forms."

"Most of us have secondary anatomy that forms a vehicle mode. Like the one you just shot."

At that, his optics narrow as he takes a second look at Garrod. He's been to Earth, and he can recognize when a human is only in it's adolescent stage in life.

"You're too young to be handling firearms."

"I was assuming you'd leave and use your legs.", the Autobot replies irritably. He stretches slightly, as if to work out the annoying tickle of having a bullet lodged in his body somewhere. It's only mildly successful.

"I'd suggest avoiding the handgun. A Decepticon would have attempted to kill you for that."

Prowl is certainly not entirely convinced. That said, he's obligated to help the adolescent human as a member of law enforcement there. As cold as he was, he didn't act cruel to someone who doesn't deserve it, and this individual was clearly just lost.

"You can call me Prowl."

Prowl has seen humanity at its worst, it isn't so difficult for him to believe that this boy could have been in an equally bad if not worse situation than post Decepticon-attack Earth. It's for that reason his expression actually softens a little as he sees Garrod flick the safety on and holster his weapon.

"It's fine."

He glances back at the area he'd been surveying just a few moments earlier. The task he'd been given was fairly minor. Someone else could pick it up for him. He really didn't have to be here.

"I can escort you to your location, Garrod.", and explain what a Decepticon was along the way.

"If you do get lost, the comm network can help you get to where you'd like to go, Garrod.", he states rather matter-of-factly,"Through directions or direct assistance."

He goes down on one knee so that they can speak more eye-to-eye level, "Where are you headed?"
