WHO: Ambulon, Elita One, Solus Prime
WHERE: Solus Prime's temple/HQ
WHEN: A reasonable amount of time after this post (backdating this kind of to Saturday haha)
WHAT: Ambulon takes Elita with him to consult Solus in regards to getting a nice new alt mode, with kibbles and bits and all!
WARNINGS: N/A
Ambulon had, admittedly, been a little hesitant to follow up with Elita's suggestion about meeting with Solus Prime. He wasn't quite sure why. Maybe he believed Solus would be too busy; she was pretty much a demi-god in his book. And yet... Hmm. Well, he had sat on this for some time before finally making a decision.
Yup, he was gonna do it.
In fact, any sort of hesitation or apprehension Ambulon had faded the moment he was forced to, as always, walk to Solus's temple. Sure, he could call for a ride, but... Well, he was in no hurry, really. Solus might not even see them, though he did leave notice some days prior, hoping she wouldn't be too busy by then. While Ambulon wasn't exactly ashamed of needing to hitch rides, there was a certain discomfort and embarrassment that came with it depending on the circumstances. When you need to get to a patient fast, when you're in the middle of an emergency, having to wait on someone else to get you there was not only inconvenient but damn annoying.
Hopefully, that would all change today. Or at least sometime soon.
Besides, the walk helped him sort out any remnants of second thoughts and cold feet. It was a nice day - in that no one was killing each other and there wasn't some sort of monster or strange virus popping out of the wood works. Tarn was... Well, he figured he'd be okay. Though he did regret not bringing the weapon Perceptor had made him along about half-way into his walk... Oh, well.
When Ambulon was in a half-mile of Solus's temple, he comm'd Elita, informing her of his arrival soon, and asked her to meet him out front. He had been inside the temple before - helped at the clinic - but figured it'd be faster if they went straight to Solus from the get go. Not long after, he was heading for the main entrance, optics scanning for his company.

Reaching out, she rested a hand on Ambulon's shoulder, squeezing briefly before she turned around towards the entrance of the temple.
"I don't mind at all. It's a good idea, as long as it's something you want to do." And he wouldn't probably have to decide immediately anyway. She wasn't sure, exactly, how it worked with getting new altmodes in his reality, since in hers it could be either scanning directly, or downloading blueprints scanned by something else... The latter, then, accomodating mashing up several different vehicles' details if one wished.
"Probably not. Ready to go?"
no subject
Ambulon frowned. "The second is full body overhaul. It's... a complicated surgery in my universe. Changing one body out for another isn't so simple. Is it like that in your universe?" He sighed. "Either way, I wonder if the risk would be worth it. Hell, I wonder if Solus would even care to take the time to build me a new chassis." He laughed, softly. "I'm hoping she likes option number one, personally."
no subject
"Lack... what? A transformation cog? And if that's not it, what else would be needed? But I suppose integrating some extra pieces manually ought to work..." Trailing off, Elita rubbed her upper arms and shook her helm.
"Nothing so... complicated. Just download new schematics and your cog and processor takes care of it automatically, though only a few people have the innate flexibility to want or be able to switch between something completely different like a ground alt and flight-capable altmode. It's not impossible, though." The ideas of all those restrictions and rules around changing was so very odd.
no subject
He shrugged, half-smiled. "But I guess we'll find out today which works best. I really am hoping it's not so complicated. And that if she has to make any new parts, they'll be compatible. Which is also an issue, too."
no subject
Had the method of combiners been so experimental that it'd been detrimental? Well, besides the fact that even modern combiners usually had more or less issue with the intellect part of the gestalt...
"But if nothing else, given who we're approaching, I think compability won't be an issue." Another smile.
no subject
He smiled, just slightly again. "Right," he said. Ambulon didn't want to get his hopes up, but he was pretty sure Solus could do something. He looked ahead again. "How much farther, do you think?"
no subject
She shook her helm and looked around.
"Ah, no, not much farther at all, since we're not meeting her close to her forge or something similar." That would, probably, be quite impossible actually, given the probable heat.
no subject
Ambulon looked up. Yeah, that heat... "Wonder how hot it'll be when we're actually inside?" he conversed. "I can't imagine living nearby is very much fun for the organics here."
no subject
"Think so?" She looked aside, to Ambulon and back to the corridor in front of them. "Decepticon or Autobot, all members of the various combiners had altmodes... I think most of the issues with the technology came from the combiner not being particularly... intelligent."
Pausing in front of a door, Elita shrugged, a small smile on her faceplates.
"We'll all protected from the heat by the distance to the forge, I think... And this should be it." She paused, looking over at Ambulon again. "Ready?"
no subject
When they arrived, he felt his spark skip a pulse in his chest. It was warm and it was foreboding and for just a second, he felt like turning back. Would Solus be able to help him? Would she want to? Was this a waste of time? Was he only embarrassing himself? Was he wasting Elita's time, too?
Ambulon turned to Elita. "I'm ready," he said.
no subject
She knew. But unannounced visitors were not her favorite, even if one of them was one of her marked. She had projects to do, after all.
The way is shut. They can knock.
Or more accurately, use the inlaid comm to announce themselves.
no subject
::Aplogise if we took a bit too long in coming down here. Do you still have time?::
no subject
"If she's busy," he murmured, "I can come back later. A few days, if need be." While hopeful in getting a new alt mode, he was in no rush.
Ambulon just... hoped they hadn't disturbed the Prime at work.
no subject
Solus perked up from her work, checking her message queue. Sure enough, a message from days ago, given the standard auto-response.
...Those dratted acolytes.
Taking a moment to finish a bit of delicate detail work, Solus tossed aside her glowing-hot tongs to release the door lock.
::Elita One. I am wrapping up some of my own work, but I will be along shortly. Feel free to come inside.::
No sense in letting them know it wasn't intentional.
The massive circular doors baring the duo's path began to open; if it was warm before, the wave of heat that follows the doors is a few dozen degrees hotter.
The workshop within, tables covered with a scattered collection of all variety of projects in various states of completion, glows with both electric lighting - and the distinctive orange glow of lava, far away in the back.
no subject
"No, seems she's ready now. Wrapping something up, apparently..." She trailed off as the heat hit and her cooling systems kicked into higher gear. She gave Ambulon a little grin and gestured at the now-open doorway.
"After you."
no subject
He looked upon Solus, a little awed. It was his first time meeting face to face with one of the Firstforged. And the previous times he'd spoken to the others were not exactly on the best occasions.
Ambulon waited until Solus seemed finished with her work before speaking. "Solus Prime," he said, not sure if she preferred being addressed by name or rank, "I am Ambulon." He was sure, however, she knew that much, but better to be courteous. "Thank you for taking the time out to see me."
no subject
"Of course. Elita, good to see you again." She nods at them both, though the glance she gives Elita - familiar, and one of her own - has more obvious warmth.
"Ambulon, then. I recently received you message," more recently than she would like; "and am intrigued. But I still need more information."
She stares down at the pair of them, irritation at the unexpected interruption fading under her curiosity.
"What exactly is it that you seek?"
no subject
Elita stepped back a little to let Ambulon and Solus speak, though she couldn't help looking around curiously; it was both her training and her natural inclinations that made her want to have an idea of what the room looked like, and what was in here.
no subject
He stepped forward. "The reformatting on my body into a gestalt unit has made it difficult for me to scan different alt modes," Ambulon continued. "Most combiners have a second form, but I... can only manage one, it seems." He felt a little embarrassed. "I'm not sure what you can do, but I figure if anyone can do anything, it'd be you. There's no one here qualified to do any major body modifications or reconstruction. And in my universe, it is... was already a dangerous procedure."
Ambulon hesitated. "And perhaps that's how it can be done," he said. "A complete overhaul of my body, maybe even my systems..." He looked up again. "Or perhaps there's surface modifications without intensive surgery you could preform or create?"
no subject
As soon as Ambulon started, Solus gave the femme a wry glance.
Advertising her services around, Elita?
It only lasted a moment though; once the nature of Ambulon's (rather unbelievable) dilemma became clear, she gave the medic her full and rather startled attention.
"...A leg." Solus said incredulously, stooping down to look him over and give the mech a cursory scan. No wheels, thrusters, hover-jets, fans, or treads. On a mech that size, it was...odd. His alt-arrangement was obviously useless on it's own, which was worse.
No wonder his alignment was with Nexus.
"Even I am not going to be able to do anything until I learn more about the process used and what, exactly, it did to your coding. When I fix something, I fix it completely and expect it to stay fixed. Surface modifications would not deal with the actual problem."
She stood up again, glancing between the two of them.
"And then there is the fact that I hardly work for charity. Even if you are tied to Nexus."
no subject
It wasn't as if she'd drag anyone and everyone before Solus if they expressed the desire, since usually changing altmode wasn't impossible.
Elita was quite as she listened to Solus, nodding thoughtfully at the second glance.
"If both of us should assist with the recompense, I don't mind, and even if it's not necessary, I wouldn't mind helping either way." Ambulon did deserve something more usable on its own, whether in addition to his leg mode or instead of it.
no subject
Take him apart, Solus, so long as, you know, you put him back together in something nicer.
Ambulon looked to Elita. "You don't have to. You've helped me tremendously already." His gaze shifted to Solus again. "What would you have of me?"
no subject
"Or you," she added, glancing toward Elita as she jacked into the pad directly.
If her scans of Ambulon were a proper precursor to the official records, she expected to find a chaotic mess. Had Nexus seen the mangling of his Marked?
"However, I find your situation...intriguing. Should I accept, a promise of a future boon from one or both of you should suffice."
She raised a brow. She's fair, but that isn't always a bargain everyone is willing to make...
no subject
And it was indeed somewhat... questionable, if probably fair, what Solus asked for, though the unknown quality was a bit... daunting.
Even if she might not even be involved in that.
"I'd be willing to help, Am, but that's your call, though I wouldn't quantify my help as 'enough' already. That's not how it works," said Elita with a brief grin and a shrug, but she wouldn't put her foot down more than that; if Ambulon felt he needed to pay it all on his own, that was his right, given this was about him.
She could always - hopefully - give assistance if he needed it later.
no subject
He smiled slightly back at Elita. "Well, I can't stop you then, I guess," he said. "But allow me to do most of what will be expected of me - or of us."
no subject
But it was not a mess she couldn't handle.
And with Ambulon's open agreement...
"Very well." Solus allowed a brief smile to flicker across her faceplates. "Given the unique challenge your data presents, I have decided to accept your request."
She passes the datapad back down, files already downloaded.
"It will not be immediate or easy, but I can undo what was done."
no subject
Partly because she didn't want to pry too much, interesting or mundane things on display or not - it'd just be rude, but she couldn't help indulging in the curiosity either.
She was quiet then, but a smile curled around her lips as Solus agreed and said it could be done.

"I will have to look over your systems myself to prepare, of course. Living metal requires a more...delicate touch than my usual methods."
'Hitting it with her Forge' is all well and good for non-sentient weapons and blades, but Ambulon would not likely enjoy the pain involved in a hammer reforging.
Even if it would be far quicker.
"We can do that now and get it over with."
