The Worst Field Trip of All Time
WHO: Megatronus & the Badlands volunteers
WHERE: At the edge of Haven, then onwards to the center of the Badlands offshoot.
WHEN: Sunday/Monday
WHAT: Now that they have their assault team, it's time to put an end to the recent influx of monsters.
WARNINGS: Violence against robotic centipedes.
Whether they hear it from Megatronus himself or through one of his Acolytes, all of the volunteer fighters are offered the same information: a time, a place, and instructions on what to expect from the Badlands. More of the monsters, surely, and the Call of the darkness is an ever-present threat. Stay within sight of the group at all times or risk being lost forever.
The only thing left to do now is make it to the rendez-vous point.
[[OOC note: tag in under the two sub-threads already provided: a more relaxed one for pre-fight chatter, and the actual fight thread. You can participate in both, or just do one and handwave your character's involvement in the other.]]

"I-it doesn't matter what I want: this place needs to be protected." Therefore, her duty was clear.
But she can't hide her curiosity. "What kinds of dangers? Have you been there before?"
no subject
"It matters. What you want. It does."
It did. Even Marin always said so. If he had to do something away from her, he just promised to come back to show that she mattered.
"Monsters. Lots of them. And a voice that 'call' you. I never experienced it but I was warned about it." The Knight explained, landing close. "Do you have a way to get here? Do you fly?"
no subject
"I just want to help others." She just hadn't known which side when she'd arrived.
"Monsters? Like the centipedes here?" She'd finally gotten over her fear of them. She hopes. She can take them. She can at least try.
"I, uh," she looks around, as if just realizing that everyone here was very different. "I was just going to run...?" Now she's not so sure.

Don't let his serious face fool you, Hinata! Melan is quite the sweetheart, and he wasn't about to let a young human go alone to fight giant monsters. He kneeled down to be somewhat at eye level with her, trying to be as reassuring as he could.
"Like the centipedes and other things, too. They can be quite different from each other, but I think today we will have to fight only centipedes. The other monsters should been hiding from them as well."
"You can't run there. You will be tired before the fight. I can take you with me. If you want. I won't mind."
no subject
"We'll do our best." She always tried to, including not looking scared in front of strangers. What would Neji think if he saw her acting afraid? No, she would just tell herself it was training and the centipedes were Shino's.
"You can take me?" She looks at him, openly curious.
no subject
"I can fly with you, yes. Do you want me to show you?" The Knight stood up, towering above the young ninja. "Have you ever flown before?"
no subject
"I've...never flown. I've only been out of my village on missions." And those were travel on foot.
no subject
The Knight deployed his wings with the usual "Whoosh" sound, allowing Hinata to look at them. He wouldn't even mind if she tried to touch them!
"It's a good experience. But I heard it can be scary at first."
Marin had certainly hit him enough on their first meeting to get this point across, thank you.
"But it's safe. With me at least."
no subject
She starts back as the wings deploy, openmouthed. "I-I'm not afraid." Well, she is, but it wouldn't be the first time. She manages a smile. "I trust you."
no subject
Err... It was a little complicated to explain. Brigadoon was... Unique, in many ways.
"It is okay to be afraid at first. If I understood well, humans don't usually fly." Even though here, some could, like Ventus and his 'glider'. "But I am honored by your trust. I will not betray it."
And with that he deployed two of his tentacles to gently catch Hinata by her middle and lifted her slowly. He didn't want to startle her, bt he had no other way to carry her while flying. Once the young human was securely held against him, her back against his waist, the Knight took off, not to fast, for once. Since nobody was trying to kill him this time, he could make Hinata's first flight an agreeable one, unlike Marin's.
no subject
She gives a startled yelp as the tentacles wrap around her, but she forces herself calm. He wouldn't hurt her, not after being so nice.
Her hands clutched at them as he took off, two small grips which may have seemed stronger than normal, taking reassurance in the presence at her back.
no subject
The Knight allowed himself to fly just a tad faster, but still relatively close to the ground. He certainly didn't want to scare her by going too high too fast: she might try to hit him like Marin had tried to do, and Melan had that sneaky suspicion that Hinata would hit a lot harder than his Marin.
With a slight frown at that though, the GunSwordman looked down at his "passenger".
"Are you alright? Do you want me to slow down?"
no subject
When she sees him look down, she looks back at him, beaming. "Can you go higher?"
no subject
With a graceful motion, Melan gained some altitude. The occasion to see the Cybertronians from above was rare, so enjoy the show, Hinata.
He flew this way a few minutes before turning to face the sky, Hinata resting on his stomach. Marin and Moe had liked to fly like that, looking at the stars.
"Do you like it?"
