[Open - Communal] Meet 'n' Greet!

WHO: Anyone! Hosted by Wing, Vectorians especially encouraged.
WHERE: One of the larger upper platforms in Vector Prime's Quadrant.
WHEN: Now
WHAT: Mixer for Vectorians and general social gathering for everyone.
WARNINGS: None yet. (But there's booze so...at the very least there might be bad karaoke)

Upon entering Vector Prime's domain it's obvious that things are a foot. The typically serene atmosphere is enlivened with notes of music and the murmur of voices punctuated by the occasional bubble of laughter that filters down from the upper heights, a soft glow of illuminating one of the larger platforms with a structure built on it. Colorful streamers fly from crystalline light poles, marking the way through the various crystal bridges and small platforms, until one reaches the large terrace on which the gathering is situated.

A large pavilion-like structure, enclosed on two sides but otherwise open to a majestic view of the gorge and beyond, shelters the bulk of the gathering. Its roof is several stories tall, enough to accommodate their First Forged benefactor should he choose to join them, and what could be considered a dance floor sprawls off to the side. The platform edges have been lined with a railing here unlike most of the others, to waylay any highgrade assisted trips into the gorge itself. Along another wall, nearest the open area, speakers and other equipment have been setup to provide music and other entertainment. One of Vector Prime's Acolytes greets newcomers with a simple nod, and may later be seen looking after the replenishent of refreshments as needed.

Tables of typical Cybertronian height line one wall, where tapped cylinders of softly glowing energon, both standard and highgrade, sit alongside cubes waiting to be filled. Various pieces of make-shift seating suitable to the average mech are scattered around. Central to the pavilion is a wide raised platform, about waist height to the average Cybertronian, designed to allow the shorter attendees to converse with their taller robotic fellows at eye level. Human scale ladders allow access to and from the floor, and occupying the platform is a buffet table accompanied by several mis-matched chairs.

The buffet table is covered with an eclectic assortment of refreshments and serving implements more suitable to organics, mostly non-perishable pantry type goods, (you can be certain there's Twinkies!) along with a odd collection of various alcohols including a bottle or two of whiskey. At the end of one table sits an old refrigerator on its back, now tasked with being a simple ice box, filled entirely with chunks of clean snow and ice from Liege Maximo's quadrant. Accompanying it are wax paper cups and a pitcher of fruity syrup that smells reminiscent of Kool-Aid. (make yourself a snow cone!)

The pavilion is attached to a larger building, two doors at the rear of the pavilion each lead to two separate rooms. One that appears to be in use for the storage of unused supplies and materials while the other is filled with makeshift seating of various sizes, creating a more relaxed atmosphere. To the rear there is access to a second floor, the rooms of which appear to be currently unused.

Barricade and Soundwave have agreed to provide musical entertainment for the evening.

Miko may play some guitar for us if we can find a way to power her amp.

Wing will perform a traditional narrative sword kata with some musical accompaniment.

Vector Prime himself may make an appearance at some point as well.

((---This is COMMUNAL log and designed to be a mixer, so post to note your attendance and then tag around!---))

((If you'd like to do a game, performance or other activity feel free to make a post for it and let me know, then I'll highlight it here.))

((I tried to set a foundation for the scene but leave a lot of stuff open, so feel free to embellish where you like. We have access to pretty much anything that's mundane though likely it comes from the Junk Pile. Feel free to have your character bring something if they want.))
angleofscience: (ttly explaining things - confused yet?)

Not really necessary, but he could see how she'd think so. The only reason he might have missed her talking to him would be if he assumed she wasn't talking to him. Now, since it was quite obvious she was, he first looked down... and then, with a small shake of his helm and a step closer, got down on one knee.

"It's part of my model-type function," Jetfire said, helm tilted and even kneeling down like this, there was a good difference between them. This might be the only reason to miss the size-reduction of the Keep; harder to interact with small organics.

It was probably just as well the energon in his cube was hardly touched as of yet...

"Well yeah, and you've got wings, so you must fly, are you a plane of some kind?" She doesn't seem to be bothered by the difference at all. Her face lit up even more in excitement.
angleofscience: (talking - science is relevant)

"A cybertronian fighter jet, support-class, yes," Jetfire chuckled. He then held his left arm out for her, a screen flipping up to show a slowly rotating image of a jet with large added boosters on the back, so she'd get an idea of what his altmode looked like without him having to transform.

It was obvious the square red ensemble on his back corresponded with the boosters on the jet's back, and this would have been even more visible had he had his back to her and the engine nozzles visible.

"I'm supposed to run interference and provide cover for lighter classes of fighter jets..." Jetfire continued mostly because she probably had no idea what he'd meant by "support-class", but then, that she might not even be interested didn't catch up to his processor...

Which might have something to do with even the small amount of spiked high-grade he'd had.
heavymetalgenkigirl: (What do you mean he already left?)

[personal profile] heavymetalgenkigirl 2012-08-01 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
She stares at the screen, her eyes glittering and shining as he talked, little 'oo's and 'ah's sounding as she watched the image go around.

"Can you fly all over the place then?" It's a good thing that she is completely enthralled with all then new Cybertronians she gets to meet, and learning what they can and do do is great to her.
angleofscience: (talking - what science is interesting)

[personal profile] angleofscience 2012-08-01 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
"I... don't have any restrictions in how far I could fly across a planet, and I'm capable of atmospheric exit and re-entry, if that's what you meant," Jetfire nodded slowly, closing the screen after he was sure she'd gotten a good view of the image displayed.
heavymetalgenkigirl: (What do you mean he already left?)

Miko pauses a moment, knowing that 'atmospheric exit and re-entry' meant something cool, but it look a little bit for it to click through, but once it did her face lit up. "Wow, so you can travel in space?! What is like out there? Is it true you can't see stars in space? Have you ever been to Earth?"
angleofscience: (Autobrand - no matter what (you say))

[personal profile] angleofscience 2012-08-05 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
He smiled, mostly due to Miko's enthusiasm, but also because it was kind of nice to actually have someone be enthusiastic at what he could offer... Even if it wasn't specifically his scientific knowledge she was in the least bit interested in.

"Ah, yes, I'm indeed capable of travelling in space, though it's very fuel consumptive." Jetfire paused and rubbed his chin slowly, but in the end (perhaps for the better) what came next was relatively simple.

"Cold, quiet, and unless you know what to look for and how to find it, seemingly empty. And, er, no, stars can definitely be seen in space," Jetfire said, shaking his helm and somewhat confused over that question, because why wouldn't they be?

He let that go in favour of internally pausing at her last question. It took about half a minute before he replied.

"... Yes, I have. Omega Supreme and I followed an energy signal to a planet that would later be shown to be Earth." It seemed... easiest to not go deeper into it than that.
heavymetalgenkigirl: (Still got it~!)

[personal profile] heavymetalgenkigirl 2012-08-05 09:21 am (UTC)(link)
Sorry Jetfire, but she wouldn't have the attention span to do the sciency things, but she does think the whole space travel thing is super neat.

"Wow..." She either noticed his confusion, or simply felt the need to qualify her question when she said "I read it somewhere that the only reason we see stars on Earth is cause of the atmosphere and without that you can't see stars in space." A classic case of 'don't believe everything you read on the internet."

Again she either notices not to go down the being on Earth subject or she just has moved focuses, it's a little hard to tell with her.
angleofscience: (Autobrand - no matter what (you say))

[personal profile] angleofscience 2012-08-07 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
He shook his helm as she explained where the question had come from and pointed to where a sliver of dark, starry sky could be seen between the edge of the pavilion roof and some other platform higher up.

"An atmosphere doesn't matter, as it's the fact that stars emit light which, while it takes a while to be recieved by an observer's... ah, eyes depending on the distance to said stars that decides a any given star's visibility." Jetfire shifted on his feet as he spoke, rubbing his chin.

This was very basic information, but he wasn't going to not explain it; knowledge started somewhere, after all.

"The difference to observing stars in space and on a planet with an atmosphere comes down to interference; in space, stars don't flicker as they do planetside."
heavymetalgenkigirl: (Hehehe)

[personal profile] heavymetalgenkigirl 2012-08-08 09:32 pm (UTC)(link)
She looks over at the stars he pointed out and nodded at his explanation. That made a whole lot more sense then if you couldn't see them in space. She gives him a bit of a sheepish grin. "I guess it's true you should believe everything you read on the internet."
angleofscience: (inquisitive - how much data?)

[personal profile] angleofscience 2012-08-09 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
"The internet..?" Jetfire frowned, curious, rather sure Starscream had mentioned it off-handedly but never explained it. Some sort of information network, perhaps, but the name didn't make it too obvious.

"However, most information should be verified either through certified sources, or by direct observation, not through third-party sources don't have an idea if they are correct," Jetfire said with a shake of his helm, since scientific integrity was important.
heavymetalgenkigirl: (What do you mean he already left?)

[personal profile] heavymetalgenkigirl 2012-08-10 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah." She paused for a moment before realizing they may not have that in his world. "Its a world wide data sharing program. People build sites out of data and then using a computer that has access to the internet servers you can view those sites and the information people put on them. It's also call the 'World Wide Web'." She explained.

"Not many humans get to make it out to space though... and even when they do... sometimes accidents happen and they never make it home." She explains.
angleofscience: (neutral - totally thinking of science)

[personal profile] angleofscience 2012-08-11 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
Truth was, he just hadn't been on Earth long enough to learn in any greater depth about humans.

"Mmm, useful. I wasn't on Earth long enough to learn if the humans there in my reality had it, but it wouldn't surprise me, if the dates and general events otherwise line up enough, since differences between dimensions seem to depend on Cybertron and it's inhabitants..." Jetfire trailed off, frowning and momentarily distracted by this thought.

It'd make sense; in any given dimension within the suggested greater multiverse where Cybertron and its inhabitants was the connecting factor and the unique feature, the differences wouldn't depend on any other species, but rather on Cybertron and the inhabitants themselves...

"Maybe in time," Jetfire murmured, shaking his helm.
heavymetalgenkigirl: (What do you mean he already left?)

[personal profile] heavymetalgenkigirl 2012-08-17 08:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Miko seemed oblivious to the fact that he was lots in thoughts. "I don't know, but maybe they do on that Earth, maybe they don't. Maybe they made up some other method to transfer data, or don't even use that either." She shrugs, since there is no way of knowing while they are here. She already likes Jetfire quite a bit, he may be one of those nerdy types, but at least he's willing to talk to her, and explain things.
angleofscience: (say what? - I did calculations!)

[personal profile] angleofscience 2012-08-18 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
"From what little I saw of the technology level on the Earth in my dimension, I don't think it'd be inconcievable at all that they've reached the level needed to create something like that."

Since, really, a data exchange network wasn't that hard to construct as long as your level of technology had achieved the digital.
heavymetalgenkigirl: (You think so huh?)

[personal profile] heavymetalgenkigirl 2012-08-18 08:33 pm (UTC)(link)
She shrugs again. She may be from Japan, but that didn't mean she knew everything there was to know about the internet and technology. "Possibly, hard to tell from here though, right?"
