You're Gonna Let It Eat You Away
WHO: Ventus (
happyduckbutt) and OPEN
WHERE: Lakeside, Alpha Trion's Quadrant
WHEN A couple of days after the resolving of the Glyphless
WHAT: Restlessness, reflection, and slight disturbing of the peace.
WARNINGS: --
Several splashes marked the passing of the first stone, the ripples marring the smoothness of the lake's usual surface before the offending object was swallowed into its depths by common laws of physics. From the water's edge, the blond-haired keyblade wielder watched as the ripples spread slowly until they seemed to vanish back into its original stillness, at least so far as he could see. He looked down at his hand, tossing the flattish rock that he held before taking a step back to counter his balance as he pulled his arm back to skim the rock across the water's surface, just as the first.
This one didn't go as far, making only a couple of sloppy skips across the water before disappearing with a plop. It kind of reminded him of how he was feeling. It hadn't been a week since everything had happened, and it wasn't anything he could forget any time soon, if ever. Things here hadn't stopped, the injured were being tended to, and here he was, feeling a little lost.
Thinking about the things Saber had told him, Ventus still didn't feel satisfied for the things that had to be done, even though such seemed the only way to resolve things. He wondered if talking to any of the Firstforged would help either, but he'd been hesitant to try. They were probably busy with things too, and he figured they had a lot of things to consider as well.
With a sigh, the boy stooped down to pick up another rock to toss. He rubbed his thumb over its flat surface before he looked out at the lake again. Drawing a deep breath, he swung his hand back and then hurled the rock forward, a series of plips and splashes following.

"It's a nice place," he agreed as he looked out towards the lake waters again. "If I'm not looking from Prima's temple, I like being here in person." It reminded him of home, if only vaguely. The Land of Departure was full of ponds, lakes and fountains.
Feeling that familiar ache that he'd figured was probably homesickness, Ventus quickly grasped for other things to talk about. He turned, pointing off in another direction. "There's a little area that people have started farming. It's nice to know that things can grow around here at all." The place in general could do with a lot more greenery, but he supposed if it was made for giant men of metal, they had little use for plants.
no subject
"Farming.. that's wise. That will help us .. organics, as they call us .. on this planet."
Looking in the direction he pointed, Saber paused for a good moment before speaking once again.
"I am visiting the new graveyard to ensure Blurr is not there. He seems to have collapsed. Another has likely helped him already, but I want to be certain. Would you like to accompany me?"
no subject
"What, collapsed?" He looked a little worried at that. Blurr- he hadn't spoken to him before, but he was pretty sure he'd heard the name mentioned before. "Um, sure. I don't mind."
no subject
Saber was sure she could find it, but he'd likely recognize it much easier than she did. Really, Blurr was ridiculous for not asking help for that kind of task.
no subject
"Well the lake's pretty big..." The boy gave a look around to see if he could spy anything from where they were. "Ah- I know!"
It would make their search easier looking from above rather than at ground level. Holding out his hand, he summoned his keyblade into his grasp. He twirled it around before tossing it straight up into the air where it flashed brightly, but rather than coming straight down, it curved around in its descent, floating parallel to the ground. It's shape was much different but it definitely appeared to be a transport of sorts while still bearing hints of the original keyblade's appearance. It was probably what the boy was using back when he was seeking help for Megatron.
Ventus grinned briefly at Saber, gesturing towards his glider. "Come on!" he said, hopping aboard and shuffling forward to leave space behind him before he held his hand out to her.
oh my.
There was no point in asking if this was safe when she trusted the lad, but that didn't mean she was 100% confident in this, either.
:]a
Ventus led her hand to rest on his shoulder. "Here, this would probably be better. How's your balance?" He didn't want to take off if she wasn't ready, after all.
no subject
"Oh, yes. I'm fine," Saber returned, perhaps feeling a little silly about her own actions now. Her had being on his shoulder was just fine. She had seen a flying device like this before, which was maybe why she was anticipating falling over or something similar. She seemed much more at ease now, even though she looked downwards occasionally without lowering her head to do so.
no subject
The boy seemed comfortable in the air despite the fact that there was nothing to hold on to. He glanced around as they made to circle the water's edge.
"See anything?" he asked, glancing over his shoulder at his passenger.
no subject
Despite her uncertainty, Saber had spotted the makeshift graveyard. Pointing towards it, it was undoubtedly to the west where Blurr had mentioned.
Once actually in the air, Saber seemed pretty confident on her feet and with her balance, but her hand didn't leave his shoulder.
no subject
It didn't take them long to get across, and once they were near the site, down he took them. The boy stopped the glider about a foot from the ground.
no subject
"We'll quickly scout the area?" she asked, looking to Ventus for his confirmation. It wouldn't take long to ensure Blurr was no longer there, and she highly doubted he was. Better safe than sorry, however.
no subject
"Sounds good to me," he replied. He didn't think it would take long to see whether or not a giant robot was still about either, but his thoughts went along the same line as Saber's.
slight time skip, hope that's okay!
"I can say with 100% confidence he's not here. To be expected, but not a waste of time," the knight confirmed as she set a hand on her hip. Looking across the graveyard, Saber took in the surroundings. It was definitely a makeshift graveyard, but definitely a graveyard. Having been through a warring state most of her life, Saber had seen few actual graveyards. There was no time to bury the dead when the battlefield was covered in them and more were coming.
.. That was not exactly the happiest train of thought. Looking to Ventus, she paused before voicing a trend she had noticed with him. In particular, his usage of the Link.
"You do not listen to most transmissions that come in, do you? Sometimes I wish to turn them off, but then I fear I may miss something that is important."
She now had a few responsibilities, but sometimes, she did wish she could leave that device shut off.
's fine! :D
Forcing himself to turn away from them, the boy looked back at Saber. "Ah... I'm usually better at it. I just kind of..." He trailed off, unsure of how to explain himself. He just didn't want to hear about the results from what had become of the unmarked, and hearing few had been more than enough.
"I should probably try to keep it on again."
no subject
"Thank you for accompanying me. Now that I am finished here, would you mind taking me elsewhere on your flying device?"
Saber didn't care where; she'd be back at the Rec Center, eventually. However, there was much of the Haven she hadn't seen, and perhaps he could show her somewhere new.
no subject
It didn't take him long to summon his glider once again. He didn't realize that Saber hadn't given him a specific destination until he'd already hopped back atop the thing.
"Uh... Where to, exactly?" he asked sheepishly as he glanced over his shoulder.
no subject
"I have not done much exploring. Would you show me somewhere that you enjoy being?"
Was Saber trying to cheer him up? Perhaps. She did realize she brought him to a graveyard, of all things, when he was not feeling his best. Besides, she was curious what types of areas this lad enjoyed. And a little relaxation time always helped.
no subject
"Well, the lakeside is one of them. But if you haven't seen it yet, I know just the place to start. You ready?" He didn't want to take off if she wasn't prepared, after all.
no subject
"Yes, go ahead," the knight responded. She was standing with her legs slightly more apart than usual to take the initial movement of the flying device with ease.
Saber had not relaxed much since arriving, and somewhere to sit and think and recollect herself would be grand. She'd trust Ventus with his choice in locations.
no subject
Nodding, Ventus took them up as soon as he'd received Saber's go-ahead. He directed the glider up towards the beacon that stood as the Haven's main source of light.
Prima's temple was located south of Alpha Trion's lake, but rose high above the rest of the area. He brought them down just in front of the temple's entry, pointing out towards the magnificent view of the Haven that stretched beyond its edge.
no subject
"Yes, this is lovely, Ventus. Thank you."
Walking over to the side of the entry so she would not be in the way, she looked towards the lad for a moment before nodding.
"I think I will meditate to clear my mind. Feel to leave if you have other places to be."
Lowering herself to sit in seiza-style, her dress gathered around her as she brought her hands into her lap. After a few moments of looking around, she'd close her eyes and fall into a meditated state for as long as she needed to. Maybe a few hours.
After all, she had experienced much since arriving that perhaps she hadn't fully absorbed yet.
no subject
"...I don't have anywhere in particular that I need to go. If you don't mind, I'll stick around."
He watched the girl sit down, remaining standing for the moment himself. It was all too easy to be alone in this place, so Ventus wanted to enjoy what company he could find. After a while, he sat down, leaning back on his hands as he looked out thoughtfully at the rest of the strange, cold-looking landscape.
