Meet and Greet and Everything Else

What: This is the general meet and greet for Glyphless as Wing and Drift invited everyone to the bar for some R&R, shelter, fuel and medical attention.
Warnings: None at the moment!

Well it certainly is buzzing with activity, the new surge of glyphless wanderers has certainly made work, but it's not too gloom and doom. People are getting fed, and getting repairs if needed. And spirits seem decent if not a little tense for obvious reasons.

He stares at Sissel for a moment, shuffling in his corner.

"Don't you humans need to eat?"

Couldn't say he'd paid attention to the ones here, but they had to sustain themselves right?

"Most do. I guess I'm just a special case. Death'll do that."

Way to just say that like you took a trip to WalMart.

[dinnerdate]

What?

He must have heard that wrong. Had to. No way that could be right.

"How are you dead?"

[youdiedagain]

"I was shot."

And...that's really all he knows!

"I'm just as confused as you are on why I have a body here."

[dinnerdate]

He was shot. Shot and he still had a body. Was still alive to walk around, go to parties, and talk to people.

Some people had all the luck.

"Must be nice."

[youdiedagain]

"It could be better. Back home I wasn't so lucky with the situation.

And I'll cease to exist at dawn, whether I get my memories back or not."

[dinnerdate]

Okay, you lost him. He may talk a lot about death, but he's hardly an expert. Especially when it comes to living after death.

"You're allergic to light? ...Get your memories back?"

[youdiedagain]

Oh, right. He forgets that not everyone is all up to speed on DEATH.

"Sorry...I forget it makes no sense if you're not used to it." He puts a hand to his chin, thinking.

"Back home, when you die, you're a ghost until the next dawn. And when you die, you lose all your memories. You have until dawn to figure out how you died, who you loved, things like that. But when dawn comes, you cease to exist."

So...

"You die twice?"

Well that sucks.

[youdiedagain]

"I guess you could call it that. Only the second time there's no way you could even prevent it."

[dinnerdate]

"You can't prevent the first time either." Not really anyway, or at least not in Dead End's mind.

His wings flutter a moment as he adjusts himself to better look down at the human.

"We all die eventually."

[youdiedagain]

...

"Sometimes you can. I have."

[dinnerdate]

"But you're dead now."

Unless he's completely misunderstood this entire conversation.

[youdiedagain]

"Well yeah, I'M dead...but I've prevented other deaths."

That might...be confusing.

"You see, some ghosts get...powers."

[dinnerdate]

Okay, he's lost. Who knew dying was so confusing.

"Powers?"

[youdiedagain]

"To put it simply, some ghosts can...manipulate objects. Inanimate objects. Like for example...shooting a gun."

It really wasn't all that simple after all. He tried.

"And some can even travel back in time and...alter someone's fate. Possibly to even save their life."

[dinnerdate]

Ghosts controlling things and altering time. Well if that kind of thing existed here he was truly doomed more than he was before. There was enough to worry about already, now ghosts being out to kill him was possible too.

"Why would you do that?"

[youdiedagain]

"To be honest, I was told it was the only way to get my memories back."

Don't worry, Dead End, once he learns he can still do that stuff, he'll totally watch your back.

[dinnerdate]

"That's the only way? ... What happens when you get them back?"

That'll be nice. Have someone on his side for once.

[youdiedagain]

...

"I guess we just...disappear. For good."

He gives a shrug, leaning against the wall.

"Better to go out knowing who you'll miss."

[dinnerdate]

"So. You get them back and you die, and you don't and you still die?"

Sounds like a scrap deal honestly.

[youdiedagain]

"Thems the breaks, from what I've heard. I guess the rest of the night is given to us for unfinished business before we...you know. Disappear for good."

It could be a more ideal situation but...then again, if we're going big, he'd rather be alive.

[dinnerdate]

"I guess that's something."

Not much of something, but unfinished business being dealt with wasn't too bad. More than he'd get when he finally died.

"Doesn't sound like much fun."

[youdiedagain]

"I have to agree. Then again, I don't think dying is really a good time anyway."

From what he's seen, they can all be pretty painful.

"But you take what you can get, right?"

[dinnerdate]

Dead End nods, "I wouldn't think it would be."

Unless you really wanted to die, and who wanted that? Not him or anyone he knew. Especially not the bots he ate, unfortunately. Would save a lot of struggle. The screaming he never really minded, but the struggling when he wanted to eat? Not a fan of that.

But back on track.

"I don't think that really counts when what you get is death."
