A day off

WHO: Drift and Vandal
WHERE: The lake out near... somewhere. I forget where, but I know it's there.
WHEN Monday to Wednesday
WHAT: Camping! And drinking. Vandal and Drift go on a vacation.
WARNINGS: Vandal's mouth.

"So it should be a ways ahead."

Maybe she'd over-packed, but it's easy when you have a holo-inventory. So they had firewood, food, even high-grade for Drift, and whiskey for her. They were going to have a hell of a time, damn it. If she has anything to do with it. Drift needs it, and so does she. After everything that had happened?

A little R&R will do them both good. So she sinks back into Drift's passenger seat and chews on a piece of very dry jerky.

"Are you excited? I'm excited. We're gonna drunk. And maybe hang out and it's gonna be fuckin' great. I've never been camping. Have you? I've read about it. I always wanted to when I was a kid but. Space. Kinda lacks proper forests and wilderness."

"Pssshhh. Me? I can take much more. Buuuut you did give me a run for my money." She pushes his door and climbs out, taking a breath of the crisp air in and looking over the landscape and water appraisingly before kicking off her shoes.

"You have a point there. Maybe we should play a game. Or explore. I'm kinda all about getting a few drinks in first though. Makes things more lively don't you think?"

Yeah. Already opening up that holo-inventory and offloading some high grade and whiskey.

"I'll have to try harder." Not really. But he can't just take that sort of thing lying down.

Well, in alt mode.

Right. That's a terrible expression.

"Drinks are a good place to start." He waits till she's exited, before straightening, panels sliding into his robot mode.

"Bring it on, tough guy."

No matter how many times she sees it, it's still fucking awesome. Watching a car stand up. She scoots a cube of high grade toward him.

"Drink up."

Because everything is better when you're hammered.

"Big talk from someone with two feet on the ground." He says, also with two feet on the ground, as he reaches for the cube. He waits to see if she takes a drink for herself.

"Aren't we supposed to toast or something? Something inspiring?"

"I could always sit on your shoulders and say it." She maturely sticks her tongue out at him and uncaps her bottle, lifting it slightly.

"Uhh. Yeah. To us? Here's to best friends."

Yeah. Best friends. She tips the bottle back a little quickly, because there's a part of her deep down, that is starting to realize...

"You could try." He's grinning when he says it. It would certainly be better than all the time he spent as a human slung over her shoulders.

That's a good toast. "Best friends." He smiles, raising his cube. "The best friend I've had."

"Likewise," She says as she finishes a long drink, hissing at the burn in her throat.

Padding over, she sits on the small rocky outcropping and dangles her feet in the water. It's cold, to say the least. Shallow enough that she doesn't feel uncomfortable hanging out near the edge. She can see the bottom... swimming wasn't a thing she leaned.

"Feels pretty damn good to get the hell away from 'civilization', doesn't it?"

He moves to the water's edge, wading in and sitting down on the ground next to her. He takes a more moderate sip, grinning over at her.

"It does." He gives a sage nod, adding. "It's weird. Good, but weird. Like maybe I can, I don't know, sort things out."

Well if he's going to be there she'll just help herself to leaning against him comfortably. Not an unusual thing for them, she typically has the approach of climbing on/sitting on/lounging inside of him anyways,

"Yeah. It's supposed to help clear your head and 'put things in perspective' supposedly, so maybe it's working. Either way, I like it so far."

She takes another drink and kicks a little water in his general direction, too lazy to really make it count.

"Though I could go anywhere with you and still be happy."

Ah. Did she just say that? Another drink, then.

He looks at her as she leans, smiling. He's still not really used to anyone wanting to be around him. It's a good feeling.

"It feels nice. Like a chance to concentrate on something that matters." Or someone. Uh. Wow. He's suddenly eminently grateful for the splash of water.

He cocks his head in mock threat. "You sure you want to start that?"

Yeah. More high grade would be good. Definitely.

"Exactly. You're a natural at this, Drift. I knew this was a good idea."

She snorts through another swig of whiskey and gives him a challenging shake of her head.

"Maybe I wanna finish it too. I can take you any day of the week."

Haha.

No she cant.

Liquid ~~judgement impairment~~ courage.

"I am?" He doesn't feel very natural at any of this. But he does feel relaxed around Vandal.

"Really." He's about to put that to the test, but stops himself, just for a klik. "Do you have a change of clothes?" Because if he's going to get you soaked, you're going to need them.

"You are." She confirms.

"Several." Fortunately. She kind of expected to get dirty or wet, so she had come prepared. So nice of him to consider it, though.

She kind of expects what's about to happen and grins in spite of herself.

"All right." He cants his helm. "You asked for it." 'It' being a sweeping foot through the water, sending a long wave at Vandal. He can't help but grin, even though he suspects this is probably not a nice thing.

Welp. She did ask fr it. It's cold as fuck, it makes her gasp, but well. This is the kind of shit she came here to do. So she's not terribly upset.

It does stick her hair to her face and make her clothes hang off her, dripping.

"You know what you're asking for?"

...oh frag. She means tickling, doesn't she?

Drift hastily places the cube down, hopefully at a safe distance. "You wouldn't dare," he says, knowing entirely well...she likely does.

"Ohoho... wouldn't I?" She gives him a false start, acting like she might try to jump on him, but then sits back and takes a drink of whiskey.

"Be on your guard. I'll get you when you least expect it."

Smirk.

"But for now, drink."

Drift gives an entirely unmanly squeak, flinching backward from her feint, frowning at her laugh. "Yeah? What if I always expect it?" Because he could do that. Or try.

He gives her a mock-suspicious look. See? He's expecting it right now, so no tickling. Got it? He's onto you.

He keeps his optics on her as he takes another sip of energon, watching the water drip off the lengths of her hair.

"You'll let your guard down eventually. And when you do? Ohhhh you will rue the day. Rue it." She flashes him a wicked grin.

"You'll see."

She flops on her back in a puddle, finishing the bottle.

"Just don't, you know, make me rue it in front of Wing." That's the energon unlocking a little inhibition there. Wing already thinks Drift's sort of a dork.

He watches her down the bottle. That's...wow. Maybe she's really thirsty? Well, he has to hold his own. He tips the cube back, trying to catch up.

"I told him you were ticklish," She admits, "He then proceeded me to give me the talk."

She needs more booze to talk about that, though. She feels distinctly like a third wheel when it comes to them, and though she adores them both, she can't help but feel as though perhaps she's getting in the way with how much time she spends with Drift. She wonders if it bothers either of them.

"Why would you even tell him that?" Wing knew he was ticklish? That could only end horribly, with lots of squeaking and flailing. Vandal, that's just mean.

Blink. "...what talk?"

"It'd be cute to see," She's just tipsy enough to admit to that, "Besides, I wouldn't get away with it if you weren't gentle as fuck and trying not to hurt me."

She turns over, drawing lines in the puddle that's dripping off of her.

"The 'be careful when you play you could potentially molest him' talk."

Yep.

"Cute for you, maybe." Not cute for Drift. Though Wing would probably love it, too.

The high grade is sending him into a warm, glowy kind of fuzz, so he can't even pretend to sound irritated. Just tipsily grumpy.

But that penetrates through his happy fog. "....oh." Wow. "You, uh, talked about that. With Wing. About me." Yeah nothing weird here at all.

"Yes, cute for me. You're cute when you're happy." She'll blame that on the whiskey later, of course.

"Yeah. It was pretty awkward. But hey, I mean. He really cares about you, so I don't really blame him for wanting to protect. Uh. That..."
