A day off
WHO: Drift and Vandal
WHERE: The lake out near... somewhere. I forget where, but I know it's there.
WHEN Monday to Wednesday
WHAT: Camping! And drinking. Vandal and Drift go on a vacation.
WARNINGS: Vandal's mouth.
"So it should be a ways ahead."
Maybe she'd over-packed, but it's easy when you have a holo-inventory. So they had firewood, food, even high-grade for Drift, and whiskey for her. They were going to have a hell of a time, damn it. If she has anything to do with it. Drift needs it, and so does she. After everything that had happened?
A little R&R will do them both good. So she sinks back into Drift's passenger seat and chews on a piece of very dry jerky.
"Are you excited? I'm excited. We're gonna drunk. And maybe hang out and it's gonna be fuckin' great. I've never been camping. Have you? I've read about it. I always wanted to when I was a kid but. Space. Kinda lacks proper forests and wilderness."

Yeah so she feels a little bad.
"I figured you would. And yeah, likewise. You don't ever fight back, so I don't think it's much of an issue." She offers him a challenging smile.
no subject
"I'd fight back if you did something wrong." He grins. "But you wouldn't."
no subject
She smiles into her new bottle.
"You're very forgiving."
A brief pause follows and she sends him a lopsided grin.
"Hey. You wanna play a drinking game or something?"
no subject
"I don't know any drinking games, but why not?" That's what they were here for, right? To have fun?
no subject
She taps his arm with her foot.
"Sure is. Now let me see... Uhh. We could play 'never have I ever'? One of us says 'never have I ever' followed by something thy have never done, and if the other person has done it, they take a drink. The point is to get the other person to admit to silly hit and get totally smashed."
no subject
He's not sure this is a good idea, but, well...when has he been known for good ideas? "You first."
no subject
There. She gives Drift an expectant look.
no subject
Oh right. His turn. "Uh. Never have I ever...." Aha. "...told anyone I loved them." Cheating? Maybe. All's fair in love, war, and drinking games.
no subject
Well. She tips her bottle back at that. Yeah, she'd said it.
"Really? What about Wing?" She won't pry too much, but- well.
"Ah. Never have I ever... had sex in a public place." Fine then. No holds barred.
no subject
"Uh. No. I...haven't told him yet." You and the little number guy, riding him about this.
....Fine. "Uh." He'll just give her a frown, before taking a sip.
Going to be like that, huh? "Never have I ever.......you know, this is really hard, Vandal." Because he's done a lot and things he's never done are kind of hard to figure out.
no subject
"Well. I'm sure you'll find the right time." Because he said 'yet'.
His drink is followed by her, barking a laugh.
"Wowwwwww. Little adventurous then? If this game is so hard for you. If you really cant think of something you haven't done, you can always pass." And she can get him very, very drunk. Though now she's more curious about his uh...
Life. Experiences.
no subject
He sighs. "I don't know how. I mean, just...blurt it out? And I don't...I put enough of a burden on Wing. Maybe I shouldn't." Especially since this game is reminding him how much he's done.
"Uh. Pass." Because other than things like 'I've never kissed a butterfly on the nose', he's running out of ideas.
no subject
She chuckles, shrugging at the question. She's starting to get used to offering him advice on things she really has no place to do. It's not like she's the love expert. She just knows what the ideal should be, not that she's ever had it.
"I think he'd be more happy to hear it than not. There's never really a good moment. People tell you there is, but it's always gonna be a little awkward the first time..."
Honestly for some reason this line of discussion makes me kind of melancholy. She has no idea why.
"Hmm. You know, why don't we just skip the middleman and drink."
no subject
He gives a sheepish shrug, because she'd said it to him. And he knew what a precious weight it was to him. And then it hits him.
"Vandal, it's not, I mean it doesn't mean anything against you. I care for you. Deeply. I just." He frowns. "Yeah, drinking." Let's do that.
no subject
She takes another long drink and gives him an odd look.
"What do you mean? What's not against me? Sorry, I guess I'm not really all that good for love advice or whatever."
More drinking. She tips her bottle back because frankly she doesn't like the fact that she's starting to question weather or not he's 'best friend' status to her and that's just.
Just weird and wrong or something. More so that he and Wing belong together than the fact that they're different species, sizes and she's just plain sub-par as a person.
no subject
"Wing, during that thing with the pages. He wasn't opposite, you know? He was himself, just twisted. Like you and me. He cared about us, but the 'care' was just obsessive and ugly. And that means...." He exvents. No this is stupid.
"Nothing, Vandal. I just, I don't want you to feel I'm, I don't know, not still your...uh, whatever I am."
now with correct account
"That would mean he probably still cares for us, or rather you. If that's what you're worried about. Do yourself a big favor and don't overthink it. The more you think about this shit, the farther you get from the truth.
She takes another drink.
"My bestie? Why wouldn't you still be? You fuckin better be, you bitch. Someone says they love you. That shit isn't easy you know." She gives him a playful elbow to the arm, grinning.
i had wondered but i figured i was stupid
Can someone love you when they want someone else? When it's clear you're not enough?
The answer is: high grade. Lots of it. He takes a long drink, pausing, head tilted up to let it burn its way down his throat.
"You're braver than I am," he managed.
/hugs sorry about that
She nudges him slightly with her foot.
"Ahaha... I really don't think so." Then gain these days she doesn't know what else she is but scared witless. She's just good at hiding it. Or rather, drinking so much she doesn't feel much of anything.
"Hey. Lie down. I wanna sit."
lol no apology just been that sort of brainscrambling day
Drift shrugs. "Been in a lot of fights, Vandal. I know what takes courage and what doesn't." There. Yes. He's going to drop that kind of dime on you about this. Because he knows he's right.
Some mechs might protest about being ordered around by something a bare third of their height. But Drift enjoys the fact she's so comfortable with him: everyone from his world, always in the back of their mind, has that wariness about him, of who he was and what he'd done. Vandal didn't see him as an ex-Decepticon or a killer. Just as...Drift. So instead, he grins, downs the rest of his high grade, and settles down onto his back, wriggling his shoulders against the ground.
I hear that
She readily climbs over onto his chest. The plating cool against her feet. She settles down and then lies back with him, mirroring him so held like a larger outline.
"I think Wing is flirtatious, that's just his nature. But I also think you are the most important thing to him. You worry so much, you'll miss all the good parts, Drift. Just enjoy being in love so one of us can."
no subject
"It's more than flirtatious. But...it's probably me. My fault. It's just that the last thing I want to do is make him feel like he can't do what he wants because I'll be jealous." Because he will be. But that's him, too.
And then her last words hit him, really hit him. "....you're not happy?"
no subject
"Juat try not to dwell, yeah? There's a song about it. By the Beatles? He loves you, yeah, yeah yeah, he loves you yeah, yeah, yeah and you know you that can't be bad! He loves you! And you know you should be glad!" She promptly downs another drink.
"I am happy. I mean... as much as I can be for being a fucking nutjob. Love doesn't necessarily mean you're happy. I guess it's a byproduct but. Ah. I dunno. I'm kinda ruined now, you know? I mean objectively, nobody wants to date a crazy murderer. And it's all cybertronians here, anyways. I doubt you guys look at a dirty human that way."
no subject
"Sp because there's a song, it's true?" He's teasing, watching her take another long swallow of her drink.
"Vandal." He's going to stare at her until he gets her attention. "You're not ruined. Or any of that. Don't talk like that."
no subject
He does get her attention, she rolls over onto her front to rest her head on her arms and stare at him from his chest.
"Sweet of you to say, but it's seriously the truth. Fortunately I have a lot of good friends to keep me company."
