WHO: DW Starscream and DW Jetfire
WHERE: Jetfire's room!
WHEN: Valentines Day
WHAT: Presents!
WARNINGS: Starscream being Starscream?
Human holidays were rather pointless in Starscream's general opinion. He didn't understand why some Cybertronians decided to adopt the tradition -- or rather, why they chose to adopt any of their traditions.
Which is why he was questioning his own sanity while he lounged in a chair and waited for Jetfire to come back to his room. He was probably lost in some science thing, but eventually he'd come back. If he didn't, Starscream would just go find him and throw something at the back of his head.
He glanced over at the box that was now sitting on Jetfire's desk and wondered if the information he looked up was even correct. And why he was doing this in the first place. Ah, well, he'd figure it out eventually.

At least he didn't end up being out the whole day. Mostly because he found a pure piece of metal in so deep purple it was nearly black, with the wavery, buttery light from the light from Prima's temple creating highlights in brighter purple and even red.
For some reason it reminded him of Starscream, and as he tucked the piece away, he decided he could be done for the day.
So while finding Starscream in his room, sitting sprawled out in the chair by the desk wasn't unusual at all, the box on the desk beside the Seeker drew his optics.
"Sorry if I kept you waiting, Starscream..?"
no subject
He did not, however, make any sort of acknowledgement of the box. That could wait. And besides, he wanted to see how long it'd take before Jetfire would ask about it.
"So I assume you were out doing something scientific and mostly boring?"
He idly tilted his head at Jetfire and his expression crept to a small smirk. Which wasn't suspicious at all. Not one bit.
"At least you didn't get yourself lost again."
And yes, he had to add that bit.
no subject
"It's hard to get lost inside the Haven, Starscream." Ah, so he'd gotten over the whole thing enough to start needling him about it instead. Jetfire wasn't sure if he should frown or smile at the obnoxious behaviour, and instead solved it by taking out the piece of metal he'd found.
"Technically I wasn't lost, since I knew where I was in relation to Cybertron," Jetfire said said he turned the piece of metal over in his hands, giving Starscream a glance from under the edge of his helm. "And I suppose you would consider it 'boring'; I was surveying the ores and metals in some of the craters in Nexus Prime's quadrant, attempting some comparisons and seeing if there was anything interesting..."
That box was sort of annoying to ignore, though, but he'd hold out a few moments more, yet.
no subject
He just eyed Jetfire instead.
"I doubt I would consider what you find 'interesting' as interesting, but indulge me. Find anything in the big holes?"
In reality, Starscream either took an extremely long time to get over something, or he would quickly get over it, but taunt the other person repeatedly about whatever it was that happened.
It really depended on how personal the event was and just what.
As annoyed as he was by Jetfire's actions, he really hadn't been gone for long. And that, in itself, helped ease off the resentment.
no subject
"As a matter of fact, I did. A few industrial-grade precious stones, a few clumps of ore which seems to have a reasonable amount of frame-grade metal ore in it, and this." He tossed the pure piece of metal he'd been fiddling with to Starscream just as he said it, easy about it.
He could always get it back later, after all. And for the moment, the thought of the box dropped down lower in the conversational queue sine Jetfire was certainly interested in what Starscream would think.
Sure, it was just a fist-large single piece of metal, and Starscream had never really been overly interested in metallurgy, but that didn't mean he didn't share his opinions.
no subject
"So you've resorted to collecting shiny objects. I believe there's a bird on Earth you'd relate to," he responded rather dryly as he flipped the piece around in his hand.
Starscream couldn't really talk despite what he said. Because when Jetfire wasn't looking? The shiny metal piece was so going missing. What belongs to Jetfire actually belongs to Starscream.
"Does this mean you're going to have a rock collection set up in here after awhile?"
no subject
"Oh? In what way?" He wasn't sure how picking up necessary ore pieces would relate to a bird.
"And since I do need samples if I'm going to be able to research the particular minerals and ores available here, and how they might, and might not compare, yes, there's going to be a... collection." Standing up, Jetfire wandered over to Starscream, absently holding his hand out for his piece of metal.
If Starscream wanted that piece to disappear, he'd have to wait until Jetfire had put it somewhere...
"But, they don't need to be in this room, no," said Jetfire and then, finally, laid a finger on the box. "Starscream, what is this?" Glancing down at the Seeker from the edge of his vision, Jetfire finally gave in, because he doubted it had been placed there so very conspiciously if Starscream didn't want it to be seen.
The question was just if him questioning it would lead to Starscream brushing him off to be obnoxious, or if it'd meant the content would be revealed. It was hard to know, as always, and unfortunately if he didn't ask and test, he wouldn't know.
no subject
He, of course, made no move to hand it back. If Jetfire wanted it, he would have to forcefully take it from him. And in attempt to fully change the subject he went on to answer the question about the box.
"Oh, that? That is for you."
He offered no further explanation and stood up to move towards the berth where he intended to plop down. Starscream had a hard time sitting in one place for too long -- unless he was recharging, which almost seemed like a good idea.
And yes, he intended to take the piece of metal with him.
no subject
And yes, he'd certainly noticed Starscream hadn't handed the piece of metal back. Seemed he'd have to do some convincing later.
For now, this box.
"Should I be worried?" Said dryly, it wasn't really a question as he picked it up, found it was unlocked and opened it.
And then had stare. Well, he should probably have expected something like this, but he wasn't sure, precisely, what the significance... Wait.
Picking his... gift... out of the box, Jetfire looked it over and compared with what he'd picked up from cursory scans and...
"Starscream... why does this look like a human heart?" He made no effort at hiding his confusion. He could compliment the workmanship later, even if it was made from what looked like parts of the mechanoid centipedes.
no subject
"Ask the humans, it's from their holiday."
Organics were strange creatures. They also gave each other dying foliage -- and he didn't exactly look too deeply into the meaning of why they did what.
Jetfire could go ask for himself.
"Pretty accurate representation though, isn't it?"
no subject
"I might, then. It's an... er, interesting choice for a gift." He'd meant it from a human point of view, though the were undoubtedly subtelties that were missing from the vague reasons he could think up just considering it in general. "It certainly is. Very well done." Holding it up for a better view, Jetfire smiled.
While it may be somewhat morbid to be complimenting Starscream for a gift that accurately represented a very important part of human anatomy, it was well-done and would have taken some effort and attetion.
"Thank you." Putting the heart back in the box it had come in, Jetfire walked back to the berth, leaned down, and, after briefly trailing his fingers down the blue armour on Starscream's lower arm, gently grasped Starscream's chin, and kissed him.
no subject
"Now, don't get all stupidly sentimental on me. I hate that, you know," he huffed and settled back into the berth.
Starscream really didn't like all the mushy, lovey-dovey, garbage, because honestly? Ick.
He could appreciate some things though -- thus Jetfire's gift -- but that didn't mean there would be any more nice-niceness from him.
no subject
"You're going to have to work harder than that, you know," he said with a shake of his helm and then the grin broke out. "But I might give it to you later." Might, unless he found some use for it... or Starscream managed to take it, of course, because if he really got it into his processor he'd continue to try and weasel it away.
Walking back to the desk and putting the metal piece down beside the box, Jetfire turned around and leaned back against the desk, the small smile he still sported rather shameless.
