WHO: Saber (
pendragon) and Ventus (
happyduckbutt)
WHERE: Alpha Trion's Quadrant, Lakeside
WHEN: Now's as good as any
WHAT: Getting in a little magic practice
WARNINGS: --
With all the reports of attacks happening of late, Ventus was concerned about what the implications could be. He'd heard from Cliffjumper that once creatures had streamed in from the Badlands, unmarked by Glyphs and attacking anything in their path. Was this going to be the same?
He didn't like it, but he knew it wouldn't do any good to hope that such wasn't the case. It was better to prepare for it, and he knew Aqua and Terra would do the same.
Thus was why the boy decided to contact Saber. She'd mentioned she was a fighter, and Ventus just had the feeling that she was probably pretty good at it. Saber just came off as a strong person to him in general, so he was curious to see what she was capable of.
"-that is, if you're not busy, of course..." he added as he spoke over the Link. "I'll be out by the lake."

She closed her eyes before she spoke, as the topic caused her to think about it briefly.
"My entire life has been centered around my blade."
The knight had never quite thought of that before; she would mostly say it revolved around being a knight and then king, but the basis of all of that was her sword, was it not?

It hadn't been long before it was decided that he'd join Terra and Aqua in their training to become a Keyblade Master, however. That was the only thing that seemed to fit.

She was guessing sixteen approximately. As she asked, Saber looked at him curiously.
"I suppose it is rude to ask without offering the information. I was twenty-four when I died."
She had spent some time in the Grail Wars and now here, but not enough for it to be a year to consider herself twenty-five. Besides, she wouldn't physically age. Really, there was no point in counting days for her anymore.
What a sad thought.

Saber's further words brought his attention back to her instantly. He blinked, wondering if he'd heard right.
"-when you...died? What do you mean?"

There was no harm in sharing this considering no one on Cybertron had anything to do with any Grail Wars, and she was here without the assistance of the Grail. Still, it was somewhat.. strange to be able to explain that to someone. Or have to. In the Wars, everyone knew what a Heroic Spirit was.

"...wow..." he said, although he wondered if that was the right thing to say. But it did sound a little impressive. A Heroic Spirit, huh. A tiny smile flickered on his face, as though not sure whether it was supposed to be there or not. "No wonder you're so strong. I...I'm sorry to hear you died, but if you were brought back, then you must really have been needed."
no subject
"Do you believe so? That was .. nice to hear; thank you, Ventus."
During the Grail Wars, she knew she had been summoned due to all who knew of her even after her death, but she had thought nothing of it. Only the goals and the battles had been in her mind. So to be reminded that she was summoned because she had been needed, even if passively.. it was pleasant.
"If I remember correctly, you said you were also chosen by your blade. I was chosen by mine when I was alive. Would you be able to tell me .. about that?"
She couldn't help but be curious; after all, how many other people did she know had been chosen by their weapon, someway or another? Or perhaps he was chosen by something else and the weapon went along with it? That was still close.

"Ah, that's right. I actually can't remember how I got chosen. ...just like a lot of other things." He only knew that he probably wouldn't have been taken to Master Eraqus and the others if he hadn't been able to use one. Even his earliest memories of his arrival in the Land of Departure were fuzzy at best. "
I think Keyblade wielders can sort of be chosen by previous masters. Terra always used to quote some kind of oath, anyway."

She was well aware he had lost her memory ever since he told her, but it seemed most things she wished to ask were behind that veil of things he had forgotten. After all, he was young, and it seemed he lost his memories of most of his life.
She didn't feel sorry for him, especially since he seemed to have no negativity towards that anymore, but she did feel it was quite inconvenient for the lad. And something that was better if it hadn't happened.
"You call it a keyblade. I know you also mentioned the Keyblades having to do with light. ..Ah, silly question I suppose, but does it.. act as a key somehow, too?"
Whoa what happened to my quotes back there, whoops xD;
Ventus smiled weakly, turning his gaze towards he lake again. He listened as Saber spoke up once more, nodding slowly in response.
"It does," he replied, looking back at her. "It can open most locks on anything. I was even surprised to find it worked on the doors around here, and they don't have visible locks either."

Although she was being serious, there was a slight softness in her voice. She highly doubted he was the type, but such a key would be quite handy to get into places you likely didn't belong.
