digging through the trash.
WHO: Saber, Ventus, and anyone who wants to join in.
WHERE: The junk pile!
WHEN: A few days or so.
WHAT: Simply looking for things of value/use in the junk pile.
WARNINGS: None!
It seemed to be the only way to find what she was looking for.
Walking between the giant piles of.. miscellaneous items, Saber found herself wondering how long these items had been dropping here, and what rate. When people had mentioned junk pile, she was expecting a few small piles and maybe holes filled. Not this.
Since she had been here for an hour or so, she had started a small pile of canned food she planned on carrying back to the Rec Center when she decided she had enough. She'd come back to the small pile, drop off a few more items, and then go explore in another direction.
At first, she had hardly been touching anything, but now her armored gloves were proving useful in ways she hadn't thought of before; it helped her sift through things without the risk of her hands being harmed.
Well, she wouldn't keep doing this too much longer. The more she searched, the less likely she figured she'd find what she wanted.

He was mindful of where he stepped, remembering all too well that he'd seen someone fall through around the piles while looking for something. True, they'd been a heavy metal robot, but one could never be too sure.
Still, tromping up and down the uneven mounds of assorted odds and ends was tiring after a while. So it was with a huff that the boy sat down on something that looked suitably stable, the patched up sack he was using to tote bits and pieces he'd found laid to rest beside him.

"Hello," she welcomed as she walked closer to the boy sitting down. As she was able to see him better, she frowned slightly. He looked.. fairly young. Was someone like that plucked from their home world? Unfortunate.
The knight looked as old as he did, and may have been shorter, even. Standing at 5'0", Saber was easy to mistake as a younger boy.
..Oh, that was interesting. He was sitting on something that looked like a pouch to carry things in. Now, why hadn't she thought of that? Maybe she could find one of those, too.
"That was a wise idea. I need to find some type of container."
She was making small talk. Asides from Miss Martha, she had no contact with other humans. And she had little in person contact on this planet. If he was busy, however, she'd leave him be.
no subject
"Hey..."
There were surprisingly few humans the boy had spoken to since his arrival, but even less that he'd actually come into contact with personally. Seeing other people around was always a reminder of just how few humans actually were around here. It was a sad thing, but relieving to know you really weren't alone.
As the stranger continued to speak, Ventus looked down at the sack he brought. "Oh, this. It's not much, but definitely handy," he nodded. Looking back at the other blond, he tilted his head at all that she carried in her arms. "What're all those?"
no subject
"While searching, I decided to collect canned goods to take back to the Rec Center with me."
Looking behind her shoulder, Saber glanced back to her pile that was growing. If she found too much more, it'd be difficult to carry, and thus her remark on the sac being a good idea.
Leaning over, she set the food down. A brief rest seemed like a good idea, and she assumed that's what this boy was doing, as well. Saber decided to sit down, so she lowered herself into a seiza-style sitting position. It was a bit difficult to do so in her armor, but she was able to as her battlegown settled around her in a large circle.
"I am called Saber. May I ask for your name?"
no subject
Watching as she seated herself, the boy grinned. "Saber- it's nice to meet you. My name's Ventus- or you can call me Ven." Now that she was closer, he could get a better look at her. She definitely wore interesting clothing, and the armor suggested she did a bit of fighting herself. She certainly wore more armor than Ventus himself, it seemed.
"Have you been around here long?" he asked.
no subject
"It's a pleasure to meet you. Ventus, as in wind? Interesting name. As far as being here long.. I was about to ask you that," she returned with a nod. "I am new. I have only been to the Rec Center, and now to this.. junk pile."
Saber was still feeling the culture shock; when she had been brought to other ages in her own world, she came with the knowledge of the current times. This wasn't the case here, and it was hard to take everything in. Instead of listening to the Link that day and being overwhelmed, as she had been doing, she had come to the junk pile to search for things instead.
no subject
"Ah, I see. I didn't want to assume- this place is pretty big, and I know there's a few humans around but I don't think I've spoken to or met them all over the Link." He tilted his head. "I...think I've been around here for a little over two months now. It's kind of hard to keep track." Considering there's a lack of a sun and a moon...
Ventus had taken things in stride upon his own arrival- after all, it wasn't the first world he'd ever visited, although it was by way of method of arrival. Things were very different from what he was used to and what he'd seen in the few other worlds he'd traversed, but he had to admit, huge and overwhelming as Cybertron was, it did have some interesting things and people. It was just the part about not being able to leave when you wanted that was a little upsetting.
He was a little concerned to hear she'd only been to the rec center and the junk pile. After all, wasn't the latter where all those that didn't have any Glyphs showed up, recently? "...so you didn't wake up in any of the temples around Haven?"
no subject
Two months..
"Oh, pardon me. Yes, I had awoken in Vector Prime's temple. When I first arrived, I assumed everyone was brought to a temple. I've only learned recently that there are exceptions."
The only other human she had met was as new as her, so she had not been able to draw the information she had wanted to out of Martha.
"Ventus, would you tell me how difficult it is to live here? Does one need to expect to defend themselves? I seem to have come during a somewhat chaotic time, and fighting appears eminent."
Saber was not worried about herself, of course. She was worried about the other humans and them not being able to defend themselves against such larger beings.
As she sat, Saber sat rigidly still and kept her hands in her lap. Her manner of carrying herself was always regal, but some could find it somewhat awkward. She was speaking to him with warmth in her voice and facial expressions, however.
This had been the first time she had just "talked" with someone, .. at least in person.

"Ah, okay," the boy replied, seeming a little relieved to hear it. His smile didn't quite hold up as Saber mentioned the exceptions. "...yeah, I'm not sure what's going on with that, but it's pretty concerning. The Firstforged aren't even sure what to do about it either." That was a little upsetting too.
Propping an elbow over a knee, Ventus dropped his chin into the upraised palm. "It's...not impossible to live here. And although it's supposed to be safer here than out near the Badlands, you still have to be careful. I've been told not everyone that gets brought here is exactly friendly." He hadn't yet run into trouble himself, but he'd received warnings, not to mention...
"...some time ago, this guy called Overlord or something made some threats and so others went to go take care of him. They did end up catching him, but not without some of them...dying." It was a difficult matter to relate, even if things worked out all right in the end, strange as even that had been. "-but the ones that died came back. I...don't know how, but they did."
no subject
What would be the point of having death if one could come back to life, without any sacrifices?
..Overlord. She was sure she had heard that mentioned that very day when she had been briefly checking on the Link. It'd be a topic she was sure would still be there when she checked in once again.
"Are you able to defend yourself?" Saber asked suddenly. Her tone was rather matter-of-fact, but she wasn't intending to offend. She simply wanted to know if he could protect himself. From how he spoke, it sounded as if he had managed to avoid any situation that would have him fight.
She had already volunteered to help with Tarn, and would likely become somewhat involved with this Overlord situation. With that, Saber was waiting for review from the Police Force and Law Committee. She couldn't stand idly by while innocent people could be harmed, but she also had the ability and experience to take these situations on.
The knight was sure some of the humans could protect themselves, but would they be able to against the Cybertronians? Many of the Cybertronians were friendly, but one couldn't rely on another for protection all of the time.
It was a troubling situation, and was more so the more Saber thought about it.

He'd completely forgotten to ask Alpha Trion about it, but the conversation had drifted more towards matters of the Glyphless and the Lambda for all that had been recently happening. He wasn't sure it would be a good time to ask again as he suspected the Firstforged might have their hands full trying to figure out what was going on with that.
"-huh?" Almost missing the question, it took him a moment before he replied. "Oh, well yeah. Um, I don't know how I'd do against any of the Cybertronians if it came down to it, but I do know how to fight." He'd been considering asking around if any of the robots would be willing to spar with him.
no subject
"If you would ever be interested in training with someone, let me know," Saber responded, nodding solemnly as she said it. "And.. if you ever need help otherwise.. I am here."
She understood some people would not easily accept offers of help, but she gave it regardless. No human would really have the capacity to take on a Cybertronian, unless they were extremely gifted someway or another. And it was unreasonable to expect that of everyone.
no subject
"I'd like that. And you let me know if you need any help too, okay?"
Ventus was the sort that appreciated an offer for help, and just as quickly was willing to offer right back. He was one chosen by a Keyblade, after all. It was his job to help and protect people.

Saber knew how to only use swords, but when it came to sparring, it mattered little what weapons were involved. Still, if he also used a sword, they could at least exchange techniques.
"I use a sword, exclusively."
Although shields were often a trademark of the knight, Saber had started training at a young age and had been able to barely a wield a sword at first. For her to be able to properly wield her large blade, there was no room for a shield.
no subject
"Well... I use a weapon called a Keyblade. So I guess you could say it's used kind of like a sword." From the reaction others had had every time he'd made mention of it, he figured perhaps it wouldn't hurt to provide a visual as well. "Here- I'll show you."
The boy held out his hand to the side to summon Wayward Wind. Light coalesced into a vague form before flashing into a solidified weapon of dark gray and gold metal tones. It indeed bore a stylized key-shaped form, its length having a slight curve to it.
no subject
"I see. Is that linked to magic or..?"
Unless he wasn't truly human, just being able to summon a weapon to your side was special in itself. In this type of environment, it made Saber thankful she could simply summon her weapon at will, instead of having to carry it around as she had to in her normal lifetime.
no subject
"It's... kind of? It's linked to me, anyway. There's only a few of us chosen to be Keyblade wielders. My friends and I have been training together, but only Aqua's become a Keyblade master so far."
A wistful smile touched his face as he mentioned his friends. There was no denying that he missed them. Sighing, the boy dismissed the weapon, keyblade vanishing just as it had appeared.
no subject
"I was chosen to wield my blade, as well."
The knight stood, a gentle smile on her face as she looked at the boy.
"I will be returning to the Rec Center with my finds. I do not doubt the possibility I will be back frequently to this location, as I have yet to find what I was seeking."
Saber turned towards her pile of cans. Yes, this was definitely a good time to retreat to the Rec Center. She'd be unable to easily carry anymore than her current find.
"I will be awaiting communication from you on the Link about a practice meet. It was a pleasure speaking with you, Ventus."
no subject
"Likewise, Saber." He smiled again, offering a nod at her. The boy definitely looked forward to what a sparring session would bring.
"I'm not sure what you were looking for around here exactly, but maybe I can help you next time?"
Ventus looked back towards the pile of cans that the knight had already gathered, hopping to his feet then. "Actually, need help right now? I don't mind, and it'll save you a return trip."
no subject
As she took a few steps, she stopped, and looked sheepishly to the side.
"I do not entirely expect to be able to find what I am looking for here. I'm seeking for.. a suit to fit to my size."
With her living in modern times, she had disliked wearing civilian clothing, at first. It, however, grew on her, and she wouldn't mind the choice here. As Saber mentioned, she wasn't expecting to find it, so she had also turned her searching into something more productive, like finding canned goods.
no subject
He set the bag down again once they were by Saber's can stacks, shoving aside some things in the sack to make room for a few cans.
"A suit? Oh... Well Kay told me she found stuff for curtains around here, and now and then you might find some stray clothes of some kind. I don't know about anything specific like that." Ventus tilted his head, pausing a moment before he eased another can into his sack.
"But maybe someone around here can make you one? I have...a little experience in sewing but I've never actually pieced together something from scratch." Only altered a dress, which was an interesting experience, especially when you were only about several inches tall at the time.
no subject
As Ventus was moving cans into his sack, Saber was stacking cans in her arms. Once she was finished stacking to the point that she was concerned they'd fall over if she attempted to stack one more, she'd stop and allow him the last few. She had taken the majority.
"If you would lead the way, I'd appreciate it."
After all, she couldn't see in front of her feet.
no subject
Ventus glanced over his shoulder, just getting a good look at Saber's own load. Lips quirking, he nodded before speaking up- right, she probably wouldn't be able to see.
"Okay, sure," he said, turning to start along, looking for the most level path to take.
