Meet and Greet and Everything Else

What: This is the general meet and greet for Glyphless as Wing and Drift invited everyone to the bar for some R&R, shelter, fuel and medical attention.
Warnings: None at the moment!

Well it certainly is buzzing with activity, the new surge of glyphless wanderers has certainly made work, but it's not too gloom and doom. People are getting fed, and getting repairs if needed. And spirits seem decent if not a little tense for obvious reasons.

"A major one, yes. Someone really ought t'teach him to keep his cables to himself, before someone takes offense." And removes them from him he doesn't add. He waves one clawed hand after a moment.

"He ain't here, though. Luckily."

"For that I am grateful. He is one who would not simply cast aside the Decepticon cause, moreso if Megatron were here."

A thought he hopes doesn't happen. Megatron wouldn't agree on a truce just because of inter-dimensional transportation.

"He hardly needs a Megatron around; seems more like the mech is just a convenient excuse f'r him."

His Do-Anything-And-Get-Away-With-It Badge, as it were. And Megatrons agreeing to the truces... really all depended on the Megatrons, and just how inconvenienced they would be by not agreeing. In Barricade's experience.

That was true, although he often seemed more in control with someone in charge, now that he thought about it. Even Starscream seemed to have him at least obedient.

"He is...relentless in his goals. Efficient."

Putting it nicely.

"Now you're just being tactful, Prime."

Which he supposes is kind of just what Optimus Primes do; he certainly can't be bothered with it. At least not on this subject.

"It is difficult to find any other redeeming qualities in him."

Okay, so he can be a little blunt.

"Eh, he's clever. And driven. Not that that's necessarily a good thing."

Because it isn't. It really isn't.

"Qualities that can be skewed towards deviousness and cunning."

Each good quality has a mirrored bad quality.

"Cunning ain't always bad. Known plenty'a cunning folks on both sides of the line, and they don't say 'cunning strategist' for nothing."

He can't say anything about deviousness, though.

"Perhaps you are correct. However, it is still not a desirable trait in a Decepticon."

You weren't ever like that, were you Barricade? Pinning children to cars and asking for their Ebay name?

"Not desirable when you're fighting against them, no. Just makes 'em harder t'get rid of."

Now that was just overeager brutality... though Barricade has his devious moments. Like that whole being a fake cop thing he does.

He gives a nod, turning his head to look at the conversationalists on the other side of the room. Some were Decepticon...some were Autobot...

"Would it not be simple if things could be like this in our respective dimensions?"

He glances that direction himself, shifting to settle on his feet a little differently.

"If only it were that easy. But there's old grudges back home that can be avoided in places like this. Folks may have the same names but they look different. Fight different wars."

And maybe the TransTechs were right; maybe it is easier to keep the peace without Primes and Megatrons and their old rivalries.

There's a nod. He knows its too fargone to see reconciliation in the near future, but... the thought is often on his mind. He had always hoped Megatron would see the error of his ways...

"If neutral ground was achieved, such as this place...perhaps amends could be made...if both factions were present."

"Maybe. Only ever seen temporary truces, myself. Held up as long as one could tolerate the other. Even a mech like me has their limits, though."

He'll never get on with his Autobots, really. Mirage has been an exception to the norm, only because he's young. He missed the start of it all. Barricade can let him slide a little.

Besides, he's fun to play with.

"We were joined once. There was a period where war had not started."

Where they were all one. No factions.

"Perhaps it is too ambitious to request."

Mirage heard that.

"Don't get me wrong, we had peace too, once. But now? Afraid I wouldn't make peace with my own Autobots even on threat of death. Other ones, like you? Are a different story."

He's just gotten a touch pessimistic about the whole thing since Chicago.

To hear that reconciliation in Barricade's world was impossible...that saddened his spark slightly, eyes cast down, only looking up at the last moment.

"There is no one you would discuss it with?"

~~Why does he feel like he just kicked a puppy.~~ Barricade huffs low out of his engine. He doesn't enjoy considering this, he'd much rather just get back to killing all his Autobots or dying in the attempt.

"If some of the younger ones were willing, maybe; the older generation are a bunch of war dogs." Like him, admittedly. "But my Optimus Prime has made it very clear; they'll kill us to the last mech."

~~Because you just did congrats, Barricade~~ He didn't really like to hear that another universe of his showed him more...bloodthirsty than necessary. But...he didn't know the circumstances. So he won't make too much of a comment on that.

"With no chance of redemption."

"We've gone too far f'r that. All of us."

There wasn't much difference between his Autobots and Decepticons, in his mind. Just their policies on humans, though his have admittedly changed since he started ending up in places like this.

"Wish I could tell you different. But I can't."

"I apologize for the state of things in your world. Had I any control, perhaps things would have been different."

It's hard enough accepting another version of you as violent as Barricade is describing, but...maybe it's just being played up. Ex-Decepticon and all.

He hated to doubt others...especially when judgement should be reserved, but...

Could you blame him?

"Eh. Just don't end up like we did, all right? Ain't something I'd wish I'd another dimension."

He does wish he could say something better. That things eventually worked out. But he was half-dead when he left his world the last time and he can't see it getting any better.

Because it looked like it was only going to get worse. Something he couldn't abide any longer.

"I will take your words to Spark, Barricade."

Which is something he never thought he'd say about a once-Decepticon.

"If you try to place faith back in Autobots, if only a little."

He shutters his optics, top pair and then bottom pair, then grins and chuckles.

"It's always the deal that gets you, isn't it?"

Barricade throws in a little drama, heaving a sigh.

"All right. I will... attempt it."
