Meet and Greet and Everything Else
Who: Anyone near the Rec Center/Bar
Where: Haven's Hub and Rec Center
When: The first week of November
What: This is the general meet and greet for Glyphless as Wing and Drift invited everyone to the bar for some R&R, shelter, fuel and medical attention.
Warnings: None at the moment!
Tag in your own threads and tag anyone else you want to meet! Anyone is welcome, not just Glyphless.
Well it certainly is buzzing with activity, the new surge of glyphless wanderers has certainly made work, but it's not too gloom and doom. People are getting fed, and getting repairs if needed. And spirits seem decent if not a little tense for obvious reasons.

... I'd never thought of it that way before ...
He looks up, after a long moment of silence, studying the unfamiliar face. "There was someone back home, where I was taken from, who was also based on my design. He... is very important to me."
His shoulders square. "And now there's you. I don't know what to make of this."

He's not sure what he means. But... it isn't that. He knows as much. Mostly, he's confused by this entire business, and lacks the words to properly explain it.
"They told me you were made for war," he says, at length. "So, why aren't you trying to fight me?"
no subject
"The one who commissioned the build of me and the others, he wanted us for war, our Super A.I.s were... what we did was our own actions but we weren't aware of another way of acting." He didn't want to excuse his own actions with a simple statement like 'we didn't know better'.
"Something happened, when the kid, Yuuta Tomonaga, was in dire danger. We all saw something like a memory, it was a part of our Super A.I.s but it was a memory from Deckerd." He thought back to the memory, the feeling of 'lonely' that first feeling given a name. It was funny that he hadn't know that feeling before the resonance, but now it seemed all too familiar.
"When it was done something had changed, I didn't want to just fight and kill, I wanted to feel happy, feel at peace. I felt shame for things I had done, and I felt a new kinship with Deckerd, the same kind I had always felt for the others of my model type."
It felt good to explain this stuff, things he hadn't had much time to say after he had gotten damaged. It felt good to tell someone about those feeling and have the time to struggle with them himself.
no subject
It didn't make sense. How could AI be changed so easily? Just by a memory... The corner of his mouth twitched. And all the others were so sure memories weren't as valuable has he claimed. Look what they could do.
His head canted to the side.
"And now? What is it you want... now?"
no subject
The next question made him think a bit, his head cocking to the side as he considered it. "I guess learn. Live my life now that I'm free to do so. I really... would like to be allowed around the kid, he's... important."
no subject
When are those words going to stop ringing so strongly through his head? He'll never forget them -- he'll never forget any moment of the one who'd spoken them. But they refuse to fade, dogging his steps at every turn.
He lifts his head, staring upward in silence for a long moment.
"I don't know as much as some. I... barely know how this world works. But you... you are based on my design."
And then his gaze lowers again, his hands curling.
"I... have a directive to look after those who came after me. To train them, test them." The corners of his mouth twitch. "It is my purpose. Do you understand?"
no subject
"I think so. Yes that sounds... right."
He mulls over the new information, about this BP looking after the ones that came after him. "I... think I do. The other Chieftains... something always felt wrong, hurt, when one of them died, I wonder if that comes from you too." He didn't really understand anything beyond that of what the other might be saying though.
no subject
Was it possible, though, for a phrase to remain, when all other data was, apparently, wiped clean? It didn't seem like it should be.
He steps forward.
"It means... my purpose was to teach and train someone who came after me. He passed beyond that. I became obsolete. But now..." His gaze tracks upward, to the Chieftain's face. "Now you've arrived. Also based on my design."
Meaning a new purpose. Not a better one -- nothing could ever compare to what he'd had. He didn't want to compare anything to it. But after so long of feeling lost -- now there was something.
"I would show you what I know of living. If you choose."
Not that there was a whole lot, but still.
no subject
He hasn't been directly excluded since he arrived, but Gunmax's greeting had proven to be a deterrent from trying to go find any of the other Brave Police that might be here. Being accepted by this other was comforting, deep down very soothing to know he wasn't alone any more.
"What is your name?"
no subject
He's made up his mind now. Has a purpose he understood. It feels... better, all of the sudden. As if he weren't simply spinning his wheels -- literally and metaphorically -- all over the place. With no direction.
"I am Kagerou."
He inclines his head.
no subject
He is genuinely happy to have something connecting him to another again, and it shows in his smile.
"It's nice to meet you."
no subject
So where do they begin?
"Tell me what it is you wish to learn. I'll do what I can."
That should work. Right?
no subject
Learn how to live, that was an answer, but what does it even mean to live? Is it something that can be learned, something that can be taught?
"I... I guess I want to learn how to live. It's something big... but it's all I can really think of."
no subject
That didn't really narrow it down. At all. He frowns briefly, folding his arms. Where did they even begin?
"Are you capable of flight?" he asks, at length. Wing had started there, with him. Maybe it was a good point for others, too.
no subject
no subject
Because he had to go inside. There were people he wanted to check in on.
"I'll... I will contact you. After this. Be watching for it."
no subject
He nodded and smiled softly.
"Thank you, Kagerou."
no subject
But he will call. Probably hungover and hating his life, but -- the call will come. He prefers keeping his promises, after all.
