Remedy
WHO: Wing and First Aid (as Wing wakes up), then anyone who decides to come by...
WHERE: Ratchet's Medibay
WHEN: Now. After this, and this, this, this.
WHAT: Wing wakes up in medibay, mostly recovered from the accident with Soundwave.
WARNINGS: None yet. Probably lots of FEELS though?
The accident with Soundwave's nightmare had taken them all by surprise, none more than Wing himself of course. He'd been out for a few days, and though he'd woken long enough for the medics to determine there was no permanent damage, the ache in his cortex was such that returning to blissful unconsciousness during recovery was better all around.
The anomalous activity of Wing's spark had been quiet for a few days now, the readings more within normal range, and the spike in brain activity also gone now that his own set of nightmares had ceased.
When the repair status of his systems reached certain tolerances, he's coaxed back to the waking world. Wing comes online slowly, step by step, diagnostics held in temporary check thanks to treatment protocols, to be run manually later after full system boot.
Amber light flickered from behind the shuttered optics, opening slowly to take in his surroundings. A groan as he put a hand to his helm instinctively. He raised up onto an elbow, trying to push through the disorientation and get his bearings.
~~~
A short time later, he'll be sitting on the med berth, still achy, disorientated and perhaps a touch distressed, but capable enough to carry on a conversation with anyone who comes by.
The hug is nice and he definitely leans into it; Soundwave holds on, squeezing him fiercely for a moment before he relaxes his embrace.
"...I don't know if there's anyone else who... does that. D'you think I should ask? I'd... I'd have to tell everyone." He sounds very uncertain about this. He doesn't foresee that ending well.
"I....don't think it's something I should really burden others with... I--"
He passes a hand over his face, searching for that smile he had a moment ago.
"No, broadcasting it wouldn't go well." He sighs. "But perhaps approaching individuals whom we know have mental exercise training would be a different way to start? ...maybe Korra?" He tilts his head, searchingly, trying to think of others.
"That sounds like somethin' I would say. An' if I know me, I know that's usually when I need t'share. I won't make you spill it, but you can trust me. I can take info, but I don't give it."
Suffice it to say, Wing's secrets are safe with Soundwave.
"Korra? Does she meditate?" Soundwave tilts his head. "Though I guess you got a point. Bombshell used t'have me meditate to even myself out. ... Been bad about that."
He tucks the crest of his helm into the other mech's shoulder, willing the flashbacks away.
"I was...in a battle, just before being pulled here. We were fighting to save our city. I gained the attention of their leader, who joined the battle against me. I...failed."
He draws back a bit, his head bowed. "I'm dealing with that part, the fact that he bested me, but... the memory of the event haunts me. Like my memory core keeps trying to purge it...and can't."
"Ratchet tells me there's a scar on my spark casing where it was lanced." He shudders, one hand clutched tight over his chassis and chamber. His words go tight and quiet. "The memory of certain death is one I'd like very much to forget."
Wing shakes his head, as if that would help banish it all.
"I... don't know of Korra meditates. But I believe her abilities require both physical and mental discipline? It might be a place to start." He shrugs, wishing he hasdmore to offer. "I meditate, but for far more mundane reasons."
There's a concerned flutter in his ember at the explanation. That Wing had been killed prior to being here, that it remains both physically and mentally. He can't imagine what that must feel like. Soundwave's been through plenty, but never actual death... then to be revived from it.
He debates fleetingly if he could remove the memory for Wing, but immediately decides against the suggestion. Not only has he done enough damage on Wing, but he isn't sure how safe that would be. But, what he could do instead...
"I, um. When you sleep again... what I used t'do sometimes is help give better dreams to my teammates. Like, I'd upload a scenario and it'd be easier to recharge." Soundwave rubs his hand down Wing's back lightly. "I don't wanna do somethin' like that now, not until I get a better handle on myself again, but... think about it sometime, Wingthing. I can only imagine what yer feelin', an' I'm sorry. ... But if I can totally help make it less bogus for ya, I will."
He smiles a little. "I'll ask Korra, see if she can help. Anyhow, it's a start, like y'said, dude."
Here, have the creepy icon
It's times like this that Wing misses his friends and companions from Crystal City the most. In times past, when his strength wavered, Axe had always been a steadying hand, a gentle bulwark against what challenged Wing.
Here though, he's thankful to have Drift, and Blurr, and Vandal and Soundwave... He's glad he's not alone with this.
Wing pulls back slightly, contemplating Soundwave's offer, his silver face lacking its usual luster. "I..." He hesitates, because it feels a little like running from the problem, but in the end if it helped him cope... "That...might be nice. But you're right. Later, when we're confident in your abilities."
"And yeah, the important part is that you're trying right? And going forward."
He pulls back enough to look Soundwave in the face now. "Thank you."
SOBBB WIIIING /feels
Gently, he bumps his forehead against Wing's. "Give it some thought. An' I'll let you know when I got myself together again, yeah?"
A light thump goes to Wing's back. "Slaggin' right. You never give up. Even when things look bad, you just keep on' walkin', dude." That's something he has to live by. Things can get pretty grim, but the important part is to keep moving.
At the gratitude, Soundwave smiles brightly in return. "You're welcome. An' thank you for understandin'."
Re: SOBBB WIIIING /feels
That bump gets a weak but very genuine smile from Wing, and he gently gives a return nudge with his helm. "I will. It's kind of you to offer 'Wave. Thanks."
The thump on his back doesn't startle Wing so much as wake him from his tenebrous mood. Some of the luster returns his optics and his head bobs in agreement. "You're right. We persist, which is more than we might have. We can't reach better paths if we fall down upon our current ones."
Wing is happy to give it. "You deserve no less Soundwave. You're a good mech and I count myself lucky to know you."
