Say hello to my little friend [CLOSED]
Who: Deckard, Garrod
Where: Starting at the Hub
When: Backdated at least to before the current event
What: Deckard meets Garrod's Gundam (that's where the log's gonna head, anyway)
Warnings: CUTES?
Deckard's patrol was just about over and he found himself by the Hub. Well, might as well pop in to see who might be around.
He found himself hoping Garrod was there. He'd been trying really hard not to contact the boy "too often" (whatever that might actually be), but truth be told . . . the boy reminded him of Yuuta so much, it made his Super AI spark sometimes. He loved spending time with the boy, whenever they happened upon one another. Deckard was afraid he could very easily become smothering, trying to be around too much or something, but . . . if they happened to be in the same place, he could at least say HI, right?

"Oh, right! My room's that way!" Garrod pointed helpfully once he was settled comfortably. The room wasn't that far within, and once they were there, the door would admit him and his robot companion. Once inside, it would be difficult to miss the Gundam within, sitting at the edge of the Cybertronian-sized bed. What looked like a giant shield was laid out on the bed itself, as well as a large gun.
"Well, there it is! The Gundam X Divider!"

Garrod stood on Deckard's shoulder, looking fondly at the Gundam. "Originally, it was equipped with a beam cannon that was powered from a station on the moon. It did some pretty heavy damage, so it wasn't really practical for normal combat."
no subject
"Combat? You mean you've been in combat, or it was designed and modified before you got it?"
Maybe he shouldn't be too surprised –or worried –for Garrod at that. After all, his own J-Decker form had a cockpit for a human to ride in, and how many times had Yuuta done just that? Of course, while the boss of the Brave Police would travel so with the team to whatever site of their then-current mission, he always deboarded rather than go into battle with them, unless it was simply safer to stay within the armor.
Then again, Yuuta had also never actually been the pilot of J-Decker, either in or out of combat.

"...yeah. Well, both, actually. I found this mobile suit with Tifa's help, when we were trying to get away from these guys that were after her. I guess it was left over from the war, fifteen years ago. Since then, I've just been pulled into battle after battle."

He approached, getting a closer look. Even sitting, the massive suit was taller than he was. "Still, it's impressive. There were only a handful, maybe two or three, robots even back in my own world that were built on a scale like this. Does it have any kind of specializations, or is it for basic combat?"

Garrod swung his arms out to keep his balance as Deckard started towards the Gundam.
"Mobile suits of this size are pretty common in my world. I thought that all that was left were the ones scavenged and pieced together from whatever was left of the war, but there are people around building new ones. Earth's a big mess as it is, you'd think adults would get a clue."
Shaking his head, he folded his arms as he looked at the Divider. "I'd say it was built for basic combat, whatever that means. See that shield? It doubles as a weapon- there's eighteen beam guns hooked up, and it shoots all at once when it opens. There's also a couple of beam swords for close combat, or if I run out of shots."

'Earth's a big mess as it is, you'd think adults would get a clue.'
The comment made him chuckle softly. "Sometimes adults have lived and experienced so much that they become blinded to things because they think they already know, and it takes kids to be able to see a situation for what it is better than they can." After all, he should know. It was one of the reasons –though admittedly not the main one by any means –that a ten-year-old boy had been made the boss of the Brave Police, and more personally Deckard's partner.
"X Divider . . . is that its name or the model? Does it have any artificial intelligence to it?" As an AI himself, he couldn't help wondering how much potential it really had –if it really was just a vehicle, or if there was more to it that no one had discovered yet, as had been the case with Deckard himself once.

Garrod snorted, folding his arms again. "...and then they just pull us into things and expect us to understand."
Like with Tifa... All they saw her as was a means of power, or just a tool. It got him mad just thinking about it, if not a little depressed. He'd said he'd be there for her, after all, but how could he keep his promise when he was here?
"....huh? Oh. That's...the name, I guess. Originally it's model is the GX-9900, the Gundam X. After Kid made the improvements, we called it the Gundam X Divider. -ah, Gundams are one of the mobile suit types, but they're pretty rare." He tilted his head. "It's all piloted though, a giant robotic suit of armor."
