[closed] how do i shot gun
WHO: Cliffjumper and Sentinel
WHERE: Junk Pile
WHEN: Not long after the Pillar's destruction
WHAT: Sentinel got a gun. CJ is teaching him how to not be a moron when using it
WARNINGS: Sentinel being a dumbass haha oh wait that's normal
So accepting the gift from the Pillar might not have been a fantastic idea, but it seemed like the appropriate thing to do in the heat of the moment. Sentinel had yet to see which Decepticon he'd allegedly hurt and honestly? He didn't care. This gun was sweet as HELL and as long as no-one knows just how he'd gotten it, then who cares?
He was gonna stick to the story of finding it in the Junk Pile and not taking it down to the Pillar due to not knowing how to use it. It was easy to explain away to those from the other universes who had weapons themselves, but those from his own universe might take a bit more convincing. They wouldn't think a Prime would accept a gift from a force of darkness, right?
Man, he sure was going to have to think about his story to get it straight! Lying never really was something he was particularly good at or enjoyed doing.
Regardless, he had made it to the Junk Pile and was now waiting for Cliffjumper, as they'd agreed. He pushed the negative thoughts out of his processor and decided he'd focus on being able to use the thing properly so it wasn't just a waste of space in his systems.

"Sure, whatever." Cliffjumper waved a hand in the air, even if he still wasn't sure about Sentinel's whole story for where this thing came from. On the other hand, he really likes this 'weapons integrated' thing as the shield is shown off.
"Right, so try shootin' with it, why don't ya? First step's gonna be figurin' out how to control it and use it, not just wave it around like an oversized rust stick." Pause as Cliffjumper looked from Sentinel to the junk around them. "... Away from both of us, that is."
no subject
If he was inclined to tell the truth, he'd also tell CJ how much he enjoys the weapons being integrated into his systems as well. Sure does make everything a lot easier!
As opposed to pulling his shield and lance out of hammerspace. Or his ass.Sentinel has somewhat picked up on people not believing him, and it's worrying. Annoying, too. But mostly worrying. Hopefully soon they'll just forget all about it.
He nods at Cliff's suggestion to actually shoot the gun and points his arm at a random pile of junk, away from both of them. There was a quip about discharging it in Cliff's face somewhere in the situation, but Sentinel just. Couldn't be bothered with him inevitably taking it the wrong way then refusing to help - so he opts to keep it to himself. For once.
The 'trigger' was apparently simply willing it to fire, so he concentrated for a few seconds and... there it is! A small energy disk hits the corner of the pile. Almost missed it, well done there bro.
...He really hopes Cliff doesn't pick up on the ammo looking almost identical to his shield.

And subspace is amazingly useful!"Just gotta work on hittin' things, but at least the recoil didn't bowl you over. Most people ain't prepared for it." Tilting his helm as he eyed the singed corner, Cliffjumper narrowed his optics. "Does it only got one strength, or can ya adjust it?"
does the thing
It was good Cliff hadn't made the connection, or if he had then he didn't think it important enough to mention. Also good!
"Yeah, the basic laws of motion were covered in the academy." OPTIC ROLL
Sentinel frowns and stares at the gun for a good minute or so. Is it obvious he literally has no idea what the hell this thing on his arm is?
"Not that I'm aware of. Let me just..."
Yeah, what just happened? He held it up to optic level and accidentally fired it. Fortunately, the barrel hadn't been pointed at either of them so the disk flies away harmlessly. The recoil Cliff had mentioned, though?
Sentinel just hit himself in the face with his own gun. Hard. There's a lot of swearing.
XDD sorry about Cliffjumper Sentinel
"Ffft---" This is Cliffjumper trying very hard not to laugh. Very, very hard as his vocaliser sort of feedbacks as he doubles over. "You--- ahaaa, erm. Ya all right?" Steadying himself where he was squatting on the ground, Cliffjumper looked up at Sentinel with a shake of his helm.
"Never do what ya just did." Another deep, rattling vent and resetting his vocaliser. "Even if you think the safety's on or whatever, and who the slag knows with a gun like that..."
somewhere, rose sheds a single tear of joy
Give him a minute.
...
Ok, he's done.
"Fine. And yes, that was a rather steep learning curve, apparently it fires if the thought even so much as edges on my processor."
He points it at the ground and even holds his arm down with his other hand. "...I really hope it can't fire while it's inside my arm."
laughing at someone else's pain~
"While we don't got weaponry like that, I doubt it, 'cause you gotta have good safeties on a weapon you're not just always carryin', but that's always sorta 'on'." Standing up, Cliffjumper eyed Sentinel's faceplates, but he seemed to have escaped any true damage, like he said.
"If it couldn't actually be made to not fire while, uh... stored away? I doubt it'd be a viable technology... Though I could see Decepticons usin' it either way," Cliffjumper said with a snort and a shake of his helm.

He shook his head. God, he'll be so fucking angry if it goes off and blows his hand off. So angry.
Regardless, he raises it again and fires it off a few more times, still missing his target every time. This is gonna need a lot of practice.
"With something like this the only way I'll find out is the hard way. Whatever, I guess I can just... tear it off if it gets too bad."
There's a pause. It's fun, shooting at things in the Junk Pile! When he gets the hang of it-- missed again- he'll be able to experiment with it. However you can experiment with a gun with one power setting, he's not that great with them, ok.
Oop, actually hit the pile that time.
"Allspark, it's going to take a while to get used to this. I've never really used a gun before."

Miss them a lot.
"'Cause unless you did, that oughta mean it's safe. And you gotta lock your wrist, otherwise, even if you don't get knocked back with each shot, your wrist still is, and that knocks the shot off course." He waved a hand at all the (missed) shot junk around them and shrugged.
"It's why you're shootin' as ya are."
I LAUGHED
"Nope. Just being paranoid."
He nods and does as he's told (for once). It helps, but not much because of his inexperience with live weaponry.
Miss miss miss miss, they're gonna be here all night at this rate. Miss. Sentinel is starting to look annoyed, why isn't he good at it already?
"How do I... not miss?"
;D SORRY SENTINEL
"Oughta be fine then." Another wave of a hand, and Cliffjumper manages not to snort or anything else as Sentinel keeps missing even if it gets a bit better.
It's really obvious he hasn't dealt with projectile weapons before.
"Trainin'." A shrug. "Besides that? Lock the wrist, concentrate on the target; ya can't just shoot in the general direction of what you're intendin' or want to hit, you actually have to focus and aim at it."
As he talks, Cliffjumper pulls out one of his normal blasters and hefts it up, shooting - and that's a pretty spectacular miss if he'd intended to hit the pole the shot went wild of. With a shrug, Cliffjumper looks over at Sentinel.
"Even trainin' won't help you if you ain't focusing or keeping the gun steady."
no subject
He concentrates and takes a minute to actually aim and... wow, he wasn't too far off that time.
"Great! I suppose I'll be spending a lot of my time down here now, then."
Small sideglance at one of the piles. It's really gross down here man it would be great if there was a target range in the police force headquarters as well. He'll be sitting in the washracks for like three hours when they're done here.
...What's a non awkward way of demanding CJ be his teacher until he's perfect at it.
no subject
"So there ain't no need to be out here and have somethin' fall on your head or whatever." A vague wave around them because yeah, while the junkpile has some useful things, it's not the most fun place to stay around for any length of time in.
At least the pillar is gone now.
no subject
He says, while kicking away a small, nondescript item that was near where they were standing. Grody.
Have a scowl at the mention of Megatronus, Cliff. Is any elaboration needed on why that option won't even be considered?
Really, he should be spending more time at the Police Force HQ anyway. Ambulon sure did pick a really bad time to almost kill him. What an induction that was! At least he can stand now. Transforming is still a bit of a bitch, though.
"Plus, that Pillar stump is kiiind of creeping me out. Maybe we should've gone to the Police Force hq first - even if there's nothing there it's definitely... safer than this place."
Awkward back of the head rubs, guess who's a bit nervous now!
no subject
At the mention of the pillar, Cliffjumper glances to the stump that's left, frowning.
"I hope that thing disappears on its own, like the part under the surface did... Otherwise I suppose we're gonna have to blow it up." With a shrug, Cliffjumper looked around them and the junk spread about.
"Oughta get some trainin' at a real targeting range anyway, so if ya want to, we could get over there and try. Might make it easier for you to focus on what you're supposed to hit, too."
Because starting with cluttered piles of junk and trying to focus on one specific thing probably wasn't the best way to start out training shooting with a gun.
no subject
"No doubt the Haven scientists will be swarming all over it in due time. Though, I'd rather they just leave it alone in case they reactivate it or something. Blowing it up might be an idea as well."
Going to the Police Force headquarters probably should have been their first destination, but due to never having a gun before, Sentinel hadn't even bothered to check if they had a firing range.
"Good idea. I have some datapads to read there, anyway."
THANKS, ROSE.
no subject
"Yeah, though given the trouble it caused when people first touched it, and the mess we had underground, hopefully they'd at least be careful." Cliffjumper's snort and the angled expression implies he knows that might not happen, though.
Scientists.
"Hopin' it does work to blow it up by now, too..." Frowning over at it and then shaking his helm, Cliffjumper started to walk, absently rubbing the shoulder of his newly reattached arm.
"Some more trainin' before ya get to go back doin' more normal things. Can't have ya be completely useless with it." That wasn't a smirk at all, no.
At least his back is to Sentinel?
no subject
"Ha, funny. I wasn't planning to just give up already. I'm almost glad to have something I need to spend a few cycles on every day. It's... weird having so much free time."
That's not a frown at CJ's smirk either, or a huff. Sentinel does follow, though, albeit slightly slower because of his leg. Man, this injury sure is making him feel about a million years older than he actually is!
no subject
"You never know." The grin is utterly shameless, but friendly as it's tossed over Cliffjumper's shoulder before he shakes his helm.
"I know what ya mean. Sure, before I got here I was somewhere else outta of normal-reality, a nexus like this, so I got kinda used to it... But four million plus years of slaging war doesn't lend itself to fraggin' relaxin'." And even so, between Axiom and here, he knows he was back in the negative polarity even if it feels distant with how long it seems to have been by now.
no subject
"Wait, you've been in one of these places before? I think Barricade said he had as well. I didn't know it was such a regular occurrence."
Truth be told, it's actually kind of terrifying as well. At the very least, maybe that'll mean he'll actually get one of his friends drop through? Jazz hasn't been around much, and he does miss the Jettwins and Cliffjumper from his own universe.
Ultra Magnus would be an acceptable substitute, even if they're not friends. More, like minded people.
no subject
"Yeah, I have." Reflexively, Cliffjumper grimaces at Barricade's name but nods. "We were even at the same place, though not at the same time, Axiom Nexus. You'd think it wouldn't be but given the out-of-universe population at Axiom it's like a fraggin' deluge of people bein' pulled outta their own realities."
Engine grumbling, Cliffjumper's optics narrowed and he gestured sharply through the air.
"'Course, not all of us in Axiom were there on accident. Some of us were there 'cause that reality's fraggin' creepy Shockwave couldn't keep his rustin' science outta the rest of us. He was doin' experiments."
Cliffjumper both wanted, and didn't, others that he knew that weren't here already. It'd be nice, but at the same time no one belonged out of their own reality...
Of course, then he'd have to say the same about himself and his assistance to the negative polarity Decepticons, which he wouldn't.
It was complicated.
