WHO: Mordin, Open!
WHERE: Liege's Quadrant - Mountain caves~
WHEN: Late evening-ish
WHAT: Bored, a certain Salarian scientist is out and about
WARNINGS: N/A--well, mentions of death I guess?
Sinking down onto a rather well placed and appropriately sized boulder, Mordin exhaled softly as he closed his eyes for a moment. He'd been out for a couple hours now just exploring and observing the area, needing to do something because frankly he felt useless here. Without purpose. Back in his proper time stream he'd had goals, projects, things to assist with.
And then had come his ultimate sacrifice and accomplishment, one that he'd been prepared to die for. Had accepted that his death was inevitable.
But then he'd woken up here in Haven and he was at a loss. Wrex didn't know him, Garrus was illusive, and Shepard was out of her element. Sure he'd met several interesting individuals and there were plenty of new species but what was the point of it all outside of learning, which he did enjoy but he felt so...
Useless.
It probably didn't help that he wasn't in his prime anymore and he couldn't keep up like he should. But resting--sitting still--was hard and not something Mordin was fond of.
Eyes opening again as he exhaled, Mordin glanced down at his omni-tool, tapping in a quick sequence before looking over some scan results from the surrounding area. The cave system was intriguing and he wanted to explore it more...though he knew in the back of his mind he should ask someone to go with him.
Ah, but that would mean bothering the others with something trivial.
He pushed himself up off his perch and started to walk again, heading for the caves with the intent of doing a full scale survey.
Because why not.

Fortunately, she knew that voice and relaxed a little, staying on her pile of junk to look down at the strange creature. He was way bigger than any human she had ever seen, but lankier as well. His limbs were so thin she was persuaded she could break them in one bite!
"Ah, yes. Mordin, isn't it?The one that talked about planets." Shira carefully sniffed the air, trying to get his scent. It would be a good thing to know. "I am always in the Junk Pile, dear. Temples are a little too ominous for my taste."

"Correct," he said with a slight nod before a thoughtful hum escaped him. "Understood. Temples are very imposing in a way. Prefer to be outside or in a ship myself. No ship though so alternative is being outside. Lots to study and explore though. Curious place."
He glances towards the caves he was making his way too, activating his omni-tool again as he types in something--probably a passing thought.
"Didn't mean to startle you, by the way. Apologies for that. Just wanted a proper introduction."

Thankfully, Shira snapped out off it just in time to answer the Salarian, tilting her head on the side.
"Don't worry about that. I am sure there will be plenty of other people waiting in line to scare me out of my fur. It's fine."
"So you are exploring? Would you mind if I joined you? I got nothing else to do, unfortunately."

Plus, she was an interesting enough creature that having her along would give him more time to study her up close.
He started walking, figuring the feline would follow, omni-tool appearing again as he looked over their current coordinates and the makeshift map he was putting together.
"Entrance should be close. Seems rather large. Accessible, which is good. Not sure how far caves go though. Could take awhile."

"I never saw anything looking like wildlife here, well, except the giant centipedes. Maybe the cave will be empty then, which would be great because I really don't want to meet their equivalent of a bear."
Just thinking about that made her fur puff.

Which...honestly wasn't all that different from his normal look but he thinks it is!
"Haven't picked up life signs either. Most of Haven vacant outside of residents of the temples. Badlands seems to have lifesigns though. Very curious about that," he muses as he starts into the cave, activating a lighting function on his omni-tool to give himself a clear view of things.

And she can run very fast anyway.
"I heard that the Badlands were very bad news. Lots of people disappearing in there. So let's just say it's not very wise to go too close to them, even by curiosity?"
The feline frowned, ears flattening on her skull when the sudden light hurt her eyes already adapted to the darkness. Yeouch! Oh, well, many persons couldn't see in the dark like she did, but it didn't mean you could blind her on the first occasion!

"Makes it all the more intriguing," Mordin said without missing a beat as he paused to look over some rocks he'd picked up, turning them over in his hands before letting them drop. He glanced at the feline, looking quite pleased. "Nothing was ever discovered without some danger involved. Done many things. Have no time for hesitation and worry about potential threats."
He continued on then, motioning for her to follow as they headed further into the cave, Mordin absently starting to hum a bit.

"I wonder if you did not forget your survival instincts on your... planet." She simply looked around as the Salarian studied some rocks, sniffing the air. No strange scent, or at least no stranger scent than usual. No trace of blood, which was too bad because Shira was all for a snack.
The feline followed Mordin, senses in alert but otherwise no particularly worried. Nothing caught her eyes as they wandered in the cave, and since exploration wasn't exactly her thing, it didn't bother her more than that. She left the science to Mordin, thank you very much!

And he would. If something happened that required him to act he would, quite swiftly.
