Who: Cliffjumper and Starscream
Where: Trion's library
When: Night
What: Blurr's playing matchmaker.
Warnings: Probably really flustered robots.
Observing others was something Blurr was more than passing familiar with. He was a spy and most of his missions involved a lot of long days doing nothing but reading body languages, studying speech patters and paying close attention to conversations.
Some behaviours were more familiar than others and he noticed the way Cliffjumper and Starscream bantered, chatted and looked after each other. It almost seemed like they were the only ones who didn't see what was in front of them. He didn't know Starscream all that much yet but he liked to think that he knew Cliffjumper well enough to tell when the mech needed a little push.
And thus a plan was set. Blurr asked each one of them to meet him at Trion's library. Blurr told Starscream he wanted to show him some science books he had found. Cliffjumper received the message that Blurr wanted to practice his powers some more.
He wouldn't be there when they arrived but one of Blurr's firelizards would make sure to lock them inside once they were in the same room. Blurr hopped that Trion wouldn't be too bothered by the fact he used one of the tables to set a dinner for them.
On the table there were also two envelopes with their names written on the outside. Inside, there was a small note. Starscream's one read 'Say yes' while Cliffjumper's had 'Ask him out' written on it.

[ he rubs at his chin in thought. it's true that Blurr isn't the type that he'd think would be up for these sorts of shenanigans.
hearing the huff, Starscream looks at Cliffjumper once more. ]
There's no need for yelling. You'll only be showing how embarrassed you really are that way.
[ someone had to say it. ]
no subject
... fine. [Beating his flexing field into submission, Cliffjumper crossed his arms over his chestplates and totally didn't pout.] He still deserves to be yelled at.
[And Cliffjumper wasn't sure he could keep from yelling at Blurr, at least to start with.]
no subject
after a moment, it passes and Starscream just simply relaxes, smile intact. ]
Oh, he does need to be told that it is, ah, perhaps not wise to trap a mech with a short temper in a building where he can be easily flustered.
[ another chuckle and back to drinking his energon. because teasing his keeping his processor from going to other places - like thinking about why he can't completely calm down or what Blurr sees is going on. ]
Besides... No one really has to know outside of we three, right?
no subject
I'm not that easily--- I may have a short temper, but it ain't that easy to embarrass me! [He's yelling and he's blushing, optics fight and field flickering as he scowls, and he's just basically contradicting himself and he knows it.]
Ugh, fine, whatever. I ain't alone in this. [With a huffy snort, Cliffjumper does toss the decoration and then slumps back into his seat, rolling his optics. He knows he's being silly.]
... True. [Doesn't make it less embarrassing or make him less flustered, but true.]
no subject
I was going to say -
[ but then the decoration hits him and rolls right down. he looks at it then to Cliffjumper. then starts with a static laced sigh as if he's judging. ]
That was effective.
[ but yeah. he can't hold that expression and just goes to chuckle some more, debating on if he should retaliate or not. ]
Really, it could be worse. You could have been trapped here with the other Starscream.
[ ha! ]
no subject
... Starscream! That's--- [There's a groan and something like a muffled choked noise.] I'd be punching him within a klik! [Pause.] Or have thrown the energon on the fragger.
Ain't the Starscream I know, obviously, but from what I've seen it's close enough. [And he's just going to scrunch his nasal ridge and grimace. What a disgusting suggestion!]
no subject
well...
and okay, no. Starscream isn't holding back now. he's just laughing. the way that Cliffjumper contorts those face plates... ]
no subject
[Look at the mini being offended, Starscream. Just look at him scowl at you and considering throwing another decoration and then sitting back with a snort and arms crossed over his chestplates.]
It wasn't that fraggin' funny.
[Cliffjumper huffs and rolls his optics, even if he's vaguely amused because Starscream's laughing, even if it's at, or because of, him.]
no subject
[ Starscream gives a half smile as his chuckles ebb and he finishes his cube. ]
Though you know I don't really mean to offend.
no subject
Yeah, I know. If ya actually did, there'd be more to be of an urge to punch you. Right now it's nonexistent.
[His grin sharpens a bit before he busies himself with the cube.]
no subject
[ please say no. he doesn't want to think that Cliffjumper would want to. he's SEEN the damage that little build can do. ]
no subject
Uh--- towards you? No. [He sobers up relatively quickly, but is still grinning as he shakes his helm.] You ain't annoyin' enough. [And then, despite that that was a perfectly normal statement, his optics brighten.
This stupid situation and fragging Blurr.]
no subject
Cliffjumper...
[ but he hears the rest of what he says and sighs. what a load off his shoulders then. ]
That's... That's a relief.
[ it'd be horrible if he got on his friend's nerves. that's all. nothing more than that! ]
no subject
I sometimes get the urge to shake ya, or yell at you or lock you in a room with Ravage sometimes, but I ain't ever gotten the urge to punch you.
[Then he paused a shrugged, sliding a finger along the rim of the cube.]
... Well, except at the beginnin', when I wasn't sure all of you were what it seemed to be. ... And--- [He grimaces and grunts.] And a few other times when somethin' just... seems like it's back where I came from, ya know?
But not normally, no.
no subject
[ at least it's only shaking or yelling. truthfully, Starscream likely deserved it. without Cliffjumper being one of the few that would openly confront him about things, Starscream is sure that things would not be going as "smoothly" as they had for them. ]
Well, I can understand when you first joined us. It's disorienting.
[ he pauses, looking at the other with a critical optic. ]
When something seems like it's back where you're from?
[ might need to elaborate on that. ]
no subject
Yeah, it was. And it's... Sometimes I just... Doesn't happen at all any more, really, but sometimes the voices would sound like [Another gesture in the air.] got me on edge when it happened.
[Something he'd only very reluctantly admitted to Bombshell, and at length at that.]
no subject
[ Starscream can be a little dramatic. he puts a hand to his cockpit in mock shock.
but then he sobers. just a little. ]
We startle you, you mean.
[ he figures... and truthfully he can understand. just a little... hearing a voice that should sound familiar to him but doesn't match what he knows... it's jarring. ]
I'm sorry.
no subject
[Cliffjumper smirked as he admitted it, even if he was grinning at the cube instead of at Starscream, and then grimaced.]
Hey, nothin' to fraggin' be sorry for, ain't like you can help it. Like I said, doesn't happen anymore, so it doesn't matter now.
[He hadn't liked realising it back then, or admitting it to Bombshell, or admitting it now - it felt too much like vulnerability. And it was a bit embarrassing, too.]
Promise I can keep all of ya apart now.
[Cliffjumper gave another faint grin as he gave Starscream a glance from slightly under the edge of his helm, tilting it up slightly.]
no subject
[ he feels sorry about it, especially after having met some of the opposites here - not that anything horrible has happened, but there is some appreciation for the adjustment that CJ had to go through.
but that's in the past now. he gives a little wave, as if to dismiss it. ]
I hope so. I would prefer not to be mistaken for the other Starscream, thank you kindly.
[ and he'll give a quirk of a smile back. ]
no subject
Yeah, don't worry 'bout it. You ain't the least bit like him. Either... any of him.
[Snickering, Cliffjumper threw a glance at the door.]
... Should we see if we can get Blurr to open the door now?
[Not embarrassed or flustered, no. Definitely not. Don't think about that, just the conversation now and getting out.]
no subject
[ that's his opinion of the other Screamer and that's how it is likely going to stay, especially after his conversation with Jetfire.
he casts a glance to the door. hmm... have they been here long enough? ]
Can you talk to him without yelling?
[ tease tease. ]
no subject
I--- ahhh, suppose that's kinda, pft, what he sounds like sometimes. [He then manages to mostly sober up to reply to the rest, but there's still laughter underlaying his voice with static.] And I can. Now anyway, but I ain't makin' any slaggin' promises for later.
no subject
Go ahead and contact him then. When you do decide to yell at him for this - if it's really necessary - then please do so where I can see or hear.
[ Starscream really doesn't see what the issue is now. ]
no subject
[Cliffjumper smirked and waved a hand, then muttered mostly to himself that maybe he should, before he opened the comm again to try and get ahold of Blurr.]
no subject
[ which is a possibility. the mental image is kind of amusing too. :) ]
