There's a moment where it feels likes Rung's returning the kiss, and that moment - as brief as it is - makes him think that maybe, just maybe the universe doesn't hate him as much as he thinks.

But then Rung's pulling away and it's like a punch to the face. No. No the universe still hates him. He would ruin things, wouldn't he.

Almost immediately as the kiss is broken, Dead End is sliding off the berth with a wince, looking nervous more than ever before. What part of his processor thought that was a good idea?
