Training!

WHO: Cheetor and Drift
WHERE: Vector's place atop one of the platforms
WHEN: Yesterday
WHAT: Drift is going to give Cheetor a little extra training
WARNINGS: Nuthin'

Now this was exciting! Cheetor found himself a teacher (quite unexpectedly too) and he was determined to do a good job. He even showed up at their designated spot early, just to show how eager he was to get started.

Nightmares about dying and never waking up again have haunted him for the past while, and this was what drove Cheetor to want to train harder. He had failed himself by dying, and failed Ultra Magnus by not being able to do what he said he could do. Hopefully some combat training would help him avoid that dying thing again. Cheetor did promise Kay after all.

Cheetor grinned and walked over to the edge of the platform and looked out over Cybertron. It still made him uneasy by how different it was to his Cybertron, but he decided that it was growing on him a little...

Drift couldn't do much here, without anything to fight. He couldn't build anything, he couldn't heal anything. All he could do was kill, and that didn't feel like enough.

But this was something useful, he thinks, as he rolls over the bridges that connect Vector's stronghold. Sometimes how to fight, how to protect yourself, was the right thing. And if he could teach someone something that would keep them alive, it would be a big tick indeed.

He transforms as he crosses onto the platform. "Cheetor. Sorry if I kept you waiting."

Cheetor is determined to be the best student: Drift only hopes he can be a competent instructor. He's never really done this before.

It's also a bit unusual to not be the smallest mech. He's never actually looked down on anyone before. It's...weird.

....wow that is like all the words ever. "I thought, well, we could start with hand to hand. Because your enemy can, you know, get you unarmed. It's important to know how to fight that way." He gives a nervous grin. "Drift's fine."

Drift steps back, to the center of the space, taking a relaxed stance. "Like, all right. You're trying to arrest me." Come at him, Cheetor. He wants to see what the other mech has.

Yes. Yes he does come. And a grounder really, Drift figures, try not to give up his advantage--the ground--so easily.

Drift hooks one arm around whatever limb comes at him first, using the mech's own falling speed as momentum. He plants his own feet, attempting to swing Cheetor down, using his speed and momentum against him.

Time to see if he remembered anything Wing had taught him.

"That's the spirit!" Drift pivots as Cheetor flips up, keeping his guard up. Speed was definitely this one's strong suit. The down side of that was that he telegraphed everything: Drift can see the swipe at his legs coming from miles away.

"Good thought," Drift said, managing--barely--to leap out of the way. "We need to harness that speed, though."
